I may be old but I am not stupid. Got the same robo call and checked the IRS.gov website. Looked like a scam so I listened to the message again and wrote down the number. That got me here so I could confirm it was a scam. Monday I will call Treasury at 800-366-4484 to report this number. Hopefully that will stop this abuse but that may be wishful thinking.

Unfortunately no it won't Granny! The majority of these calls are coming out of India and Pakistan - we have no jurisdiction in those country's.  Your best bet it to invest in a call blocking device or phone.   You can google them, most are around 40.00.

I received the call this morning, it was partially cut off on the recorder, only heard the CALL BACK number of
202-684-6848, female voice, then the hung up. It was a recorded message.

This company has been calling my house about a IRS claim they are filing against me. My husband called the back and they asked for our attorney's number. My husband asked him a question and he hung up.

This number called my uncle this morning, saying they have his name, number, and addreas. Saying he owes 4 in back taxes from 2008. They said they have a county sheriff will be there in 15 minutes and they will seize everything. I contacted the local police department and the lady I talked to at the police department said they have numerous calls like this. IT IS ALL A BIG FRAUD.

I received a call from this number and they said I owe IRS $2000.00 from 2008 and that they were going to file a lawsuit.  I asked why I hadn't received anything in the mail and was told the Sherrif had been to my home to serve papers, but no one was home.  My husband is home most days and when I told him I never received anything in the mail, he said I was going to be arrested and asked if I wanted to settle this with him.  I told him he was lying and that the IRS would send something in the mail first.

I just received this phony IRS call from 202-684-6848. What caused me to even pick up the phone was that I recognized it as a Washington DC area code since I've lived and worked in the area for over 40 years. It too was a robo-call with a female voice.

had a voice msg  left sometime over the weekend. telling me I was being sued by the IRS and to call this number back. Don't think so!!

Received the call twice in one day.  Picked up the first time, but did not call the number back.  The second time there was a voicemail left by the robo female.  I've now blocked the caller.

Recieved three calls from 202-684-6848. The first time was a hang up, then they left a message and the last time I answered it - without looking at the number first and got a robo call. I thought it sounded fishy...I mean why would the IRS call me directly about a lawsuit? Plus, we have a tax attorney and if we had issues, I think we would have heard from him first.

Anyway, the first thing I did was a google search and came across this site.  Next - for fun- I called the number back and got Officer Nathan Brown - RM919776. He did have a heavy Indian accent and told me that I owed taxes for 2008-2014. According to "Officer Brown," I owed 35,000 dollars. A warrant was out for my arrest, my bank funds would be seized, my license would be revoked, and I could face federal imprisonment. He provided my old address (which the IRS would have my new address since we've been there for at least two years), and told me the sherriff would be coming there now that I've been notified of my debt. What did I want to do to resolve this issue.  I asked, "what are my options?" He said, "don't worry, I'll walk you through the process." So again I asked, "what are my options." He said, "do you have $35,000?" I told him NO. He said so can you pay anything on this debt to the IRS?  I said no, I will have my attorney contact the IRS about this call.  He hung up.

I feel sorry for any elderly or naive people that may get this call and try to pay these criminals.  I've warned my grandparents, parents and in-laws. And I will be reporting them.

Got a recorded message from them 6/27/2015. Took down the number, called back today from work. It's the Indian/Pakistan call center pretending to be IRS agents. It's a complete scam - they called me a few months back and the whole routine was laughable, if it wasn't designed to scam people!!!

I got a voicemail this morning to call the same number as everyone else.  They called again this afternoon and I answered.  Got the same voicemail everyone else did about the IRS.  What made me call them back was that this morning I had sent the IRS a payment on a small 2013 error on my part.

An Indian sounding man answered and identified himself as Daniel Martin, an agent of the IRS.  I asked what he wanted, never identifying myself.  He said the IRS had been trying to reach me since January for a errors they found in an audit from 2008-2013.  I told him a mailed a check today for 2013 and he said no, that was for 2014.  That started my suspicion and one hell of an argument on the phone.  He told me I can be arrested in 15 minutes, house seized, bank account seized, etc.  I calmed down and asked for verification.  He said he would connect me to his supervisor.  I waited 30 seconds and a man identified himself as David Green.  This man new my name and a address.  But he asked for my phone number which they obviously had.  He was more pleasant and explained that I had to pay at least $1500 now of a bill for $3967.23 or face arrest immediately.  He also told me the payment I mailed earlier was for 2014, not 2013 and that was a separate issue.  I knew this was a crock for sure now.  Any debt owed to the IRS will be pulled by them from your yearly filings or returns.  I told this man I wanted to call the IRS for verification and he gave me a bogus phone number and told me to call him back in 30 minutes after I confirm.

I found this forum in minutes of hanging up and just hope they call me back because I will be ready.  I should just block them I suppose.

Received call which left message stating I was being sued by the IRS and for me to return the call. I called the number back only to be greeted by a Indian sounding man who asked for my home phone number. I proceeded to tell him if the IRS indeed intended to sue me then they could contact me by mail, the gentleman immediately hung up on me!!!  BIG SCAM!

I received the same phone call on Saturday, 6/27/15 and again today, 6/29/15.  I have not been home either time the call was made so I did not pick up the call.  The number comes in as a Washington, DC number.

Same thing.  Incoming call this am, 11:15 EDT, female robotic voice states we've been trying to reach you, this is the final attempt, IRS is going to sue you and call 202-684-6848.

Robo call, "We've been trying to reach you, this is our final attempt.  Please contact 202-684-6848."

Researched this number, came across this web site.  If they're trying to reach me, send an agent to my home with ID in hand.  Otherwise, stop the robocalls.

I just received the same robotic call, with a Washington DC area code, which stated that the IRS had been trying to reach me and was filing a lawsuit against me.  The robo-call said to call 202-684-6848, which I did.  I am a lawyer.  The call was answered by a man with a heavy Indian or Pakistani accent with the background noise of a jam packed telecenter.  After a few questions from me (what is my case number, what is your name, who is your supervisor, what court will the case be filed in?)  my operator, "Paul Smith" fell apart.

This is a scam.  Beware.  Do not give them any personal information.  If you believe you may actually have trouble with the IRS, call 1 800-829-1040.

Received call on home land line. They left message as follows: Notice from the irs the internal revenue services. The reason for this call is to inform you that I R S is filing lawsuit against you to get more information about this case file.  Please call immediately on our department number (202) 684-6848. I repeat (202) 684-6848. Thank you.
