  About 3:20, received a call from unknown caller. I did not recognize the number so I let the answer machine get the message. A female left a message that this was the final notice and the IRS was filing a lawsuit against you. There was no name given to who the lawsuit was against. It stated that the a call should be made immediately today to get the case number and more information. A call back was made but the phone just kept ringing. I hung up and  googled this number to find out that others had received the same call. It is apparently a scam.

I also recieved a call this morning.  I did call back out of curiosity.  They... agent Edward Brown badge #41065.. told me that agent Jackson Browne.. no relation...had left me a yellow piece of paper taped to my door on April 10th at 12:30 EST because I wasn't home.  Agent Ed, said I owed an under payment of taxes in the amount of $5680.93 for the years 2008 thru 2013. I told him it took them long enough to decide I had underpaid. Whereupon he said the IRS has 5 years to file and collect and I should just trust them and pay. He also said I had been using outdated tax information...I told him I would mention that to TurboTax.  I told him when I saw it in writing I would respond thru my TurboTax attorney.  I asked for a copy of my information they were using for the collection and Agent Ed, said they couldn't give me any printed documents because my paperwork was all ready at the court house in DC.  So I told them to come and pick me up. We did have a very" colorful" conversation where he informed me that we were being recorded. I told him it would be a good thing to use as a training tape and I'd be looking for a call from either Mick Jagger or Gladys Knight.

I  called the 202 number about 40 times yesterday just to screw around and harass them. They may not speak very good English, but most of the operators are perfect with obscene language. I'm calling back today to use a bullhorn and canned air horn. I have nothing better to do...

Believe this is a scam/hoax call from IRS that they are suing me.  Laughable.  They don't sue, they audit and collect

I got the robot voicemail & called them back 3 times & all 3 men had English names with Indian accents. They hung up on me when I asked for specific information.  When I determined it was fraud. The guy said he wanted to f*** me in the a**. How horrible!

I got a call from this number. Not recognizing the number, I did not answer the call. On the voicemail, like all other comments here, the IRS was going to sue me. I looked up the number on the internet, I read the comments here. I got interested and called the number back.
Some guy with an Indian accent provided his name as Edward Burns with a badge #IRM61095. He had to spell his name several times before I could understand what he was saying. He asked what phone number I was calling from. I did not give my number but instead asked why the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me. He said that the IRS is auditing my tax returns from 2008 to 2013. Then he asked for my phone number again. I decided to tease him and kept on asking why they were auditing my returns. He kept on saying they are auditing my tax returns and asked what number I was calling from. Then he got frustrated and he hung up.
He did not know my name nor my phone number, but he expected me to believe that the IRS is auditing my tax returns and/or filing a lawsuit against me.

Was called about 5:30pm EDST. Robotic female voice say The IRS was suing me & I should call them immediately.
I might call just to screw with them & tie up their phone line for a bit. I know this is a scam because IRS sends MAIL, not phone calls, & that only after many other communications. I received the exact same message today at 5:10 pm central time. I called back, the man who answered had a thick Indian accent which was hard to understand. He gave his name as Officer Alex Anderson with a referral # as 1RN(or M) 6264. He said that it concerned "a miscalculation" on my 2013 taxes and  that I still owed approx. $3,000. He said that notice was given to me on Jan. 25 and no one was home to receive the letter. I called him out and said I never got any such notice, and I wanted another copy or some other written notification. He got very short tempered with me and said that "it was too late, the IRS had already filed suit against me and would be issuing an arrest warrant." and "it was my problem, not his." I told him he was full of it, and he said "well, enjoy being arrested then."  I hung up on him.

I had my tax ID stolen this year (I'm still waiting for my $3,000 refund--interesting coincidence?!), so I wonder if that has anything to do with it. It wouldn't surprise me.

I am definitely reporting this the FTC and IRS, and as many consumer alerts as I can. This is just ridiculous!

This phone number called me almost everyday, and I hope government can arrest those people who tried to ripe people off by scaring them.  They should be sued for the mental harassment compensation to all the people who received this phone call.

Today i am getting a busy signal and last night i got the female with the British accent saying that noone was available. Really?? Don't these people have anything better to do???

Just received a call from the number   202-684-6848   claiming that the IRS has filed a lawsuit against me & to call that number back.

I received the same calls, they called three days in a row.  I did not answer because caller ID said unknown number.  First of all the robo voice says internal revenue services not service.  My husband googled it as soon as we heard and saw it was a fraud.  Apparently they have hit San Antonio, TX heavy enough that the scam was mentioned on the local news last night.  I hope more cities publicize this so vulnerable people do not fall prey.
