Recieved a bogus irs call from 203-701-1071 saying we were going to be arrested for tax evasion. When we called the number back and refused to give our name they hung up on us twice.

•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

I also got a phone call twice today from this gentlemen.  I am still shaking, as it did scare me!  He rambled on about allegations, etc.  just like the above posters.  Then asked me if I did it intentionally or was it a mistake.  I told him I did not know what he was talking about and that we were not aware of any wrongdoing.  He said thank you, have a nice day and hung up.  Ugh!  Glad to see that it a scam.  He was saying it was about $5900 that we underpaid in taxes.  It was interesting that things kept interupting while he was talking.  

Got the call from Melvin as noted above with the threatening message- clearly a thug.  In my past communications with the IRS, their employees are much more professional, helpful, and any correspondence comes via US mail not by telephone.  Got another call from a woman with an Indian accent who said my name and then promptly hung up.

I got the same message from Melvin Betzick (?) on 8/13 claiming he was from IRS Tax Audit office and to call back before I was arrested by the local authorities.  Glad to confirm what I assumed was a scam.

Same as other calls, probably from India.  The IRS never calls!!!!!

Got the same call this morning at 9am. Heavy accented woman "from the IRS" (some branch I could not make out), threatening with me being arrested and ending the message with "have a nice day". LOL

We received the call at about 9:15 in the morning.  The caller had a heavy South Asian accent and he said we should call back before local authorities initiate proceedings against us.  We received a similar call about a year ago, from someplace in New Jersey.  I just hope nobody is naïve enough to get involved in this scam.

I received same "IRS" call this morning.  Foreign accent.  Told me the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me.  I said, "Send the paperwork."  He replied, "We've already sent 2 registered letters and you were not home either time."  I hung up on him because I knew it was bs, but someone like my 84 year old mother probably would have given him her information!!!

Called my dad asking for me this morning. Said there was a problem with my tax return. My dad asked for IRS identification number and he immediately hung up.  

My husband received a call from this number this morning at 10AM - she said her name was Lisa Isaac with the IRS Audit Dept. - my husband wasn't home, so I asked for a number where he could return her call.  This is the number she gave me - heavy Indian accent - difficult to understand - unnerving until I looked up this number and saw all these posts.  How can I report this to the authorities?  I am so tired of getting scam calls!

Same thing, 18 August mid-afternoon, same number, same thick accent.

IRS would not contact by phone, would not begin with a threatening demand, would have a case number.

Got the same call several times now, guy gives different name each time but same heavy accent. I have pretended to be worried about a case going to federal court. He then asked if I have an attorney to represent me. I replied Of course I do. Do you want his number?  the guy said That's very good & hangs up.  LOL

Received the same VM from Melvin.  I ignored it and then immediately looked up the number online and found these posts.  So glad we all have our backs.

I received this same call 4x today.  I also assumed it was a scam thinking that IRS would contact you by mail if there is a problem.  

just got a call from Melvin, saying IRS wants to talk to the attorney of the person they are going after, funny thing person died 1 year ago.  this is a scam  total scam sounded from another country.  

Many calls from "The IRS" informing me that they have received a "legal application notice" of a "tax fraud case against your name". He had my name. The heavily accented man gave his name, but it wasn't clear. Something like "Jack Levee". He urged me to call this number before the case goes to the federal supreme court or before I get arrested. Good thing I have a clear conscience and the ability to get on line to check it out! I didn't call.

Got a phone call from same number with same message except it says it is from Milford, CT. I am ignoring it, but caller leftmessage on voice mail.

We also received a voice message from "Helden Beckett"  who had a very thick accent and was hard to understand claiming "Notification of Legal Procedure..Tax Violation against the ???  That we were to take care of the matter before it reaches Federal Claims Court or we are arrested by local authorities.  That we are to call 203-701-1071 for info on Date ??? ???? ????." We appreciate the information given on where to report this.

Received voice message from a Daniel Grouse citing Federal Tax Evasion, and that I will be arrested.
Same number 203-701-1071.
Called number – does not speak English well – when I questioned him about call he said “no of my business” (took 5 tries to get through – hung up on 3 times)
