I was told I owed the IRS money from 2008 - 2013 in the amount of $3,751.96 and had 45 minutes to pay it or my driver license would be cancelled, my bank accounts would be froze, they would put a lien on my property, the police would be at my door and I would be taken into custody and be arrested.   The man said his name was Officer Mark Louis and spoke with an foreign accent.  He knew my mailing address somehow.  He called from 206-905-9579  He was specific in saying they had sent me a letter on January 7, 2015 and that I had 90 to pay it but I past the 90 days.  This was a lawsuit from the IRS  Section #101

I got a call fom 206 905 9579.  She said she was Officer Jessica Smith with the IRS. She gave me a badge number IRM 320 110.  She said their was a miscalculation with my taxes and I owed money.  She said to only listen to her. I had a warrant and would be arrested and everything in my name would be confiscated.  The officer could not be stopped from putting me in jail.  She said I could talk to her supervisor. I told her I needed to speak to my husband and she hung up.
Thank you to those who posted and gave the real IRS number. 800 829 1040 & 800 366 4484.       I reported it to www.treasury.gov/tigta.  TIGTA. Treasury inspector general for tax administration.

You can't top the calls from being initiated, but you can protect yourself somewhat with a call blocker.

These [***] have called every morning at 6 a.m. pacific time. Same as above I've been selected for a grant. When I inform them to call me Officer they tend to hang up quick. The fake ones tend to hang up quick when they talk to a real one.

Impersonates IRS agent and demands immediate payment of supposed tax liability. Then lapses into profanity when you don't agree to immediately transfer money. Bad English accent and limited intelligence

They left a message that they were from the IRS and we were being sued! I called them on a cell phone we don't use much and hassled them - They claimed to be IRS, actually finally used swear words and told me the FBI would be coming to get me! It was hilarious - they were obviously mid East with their accents but claimed to be in Washington DC. I reported them on the IRS scam website.

I got the same vm. They couldn't verify my address so they told me I could speak to their supervisor (who had the same broken english) and placed me on hold, and when I asked them again to verify my address, they disconnected me. So this is a scam? Ive been on hold with the real IRS to make sure everything is ok

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
