- scrapnextrasThe same thing happened to us. Rep with the name of Jack Williams with an obvious Eastern accent called and tried to convince dh to do run through it with him. Dh is not computer savvy and left the callback # 210-888-0671 with me. I ran the number through Google and got this. Another scam....so sorry some were taken in. I like to think I would never have let them access my computer remotely, but luckily dh took the call and I had the time to research the number first.

- AmandaMy mom got this call, and let them get in through team viewer but I called her before she gave them her credit card and told her to not deal with them anymore. This sounds like such a scam but I was certain it was a scam after reading this whole blog. Does anyone know what will happen to my moms computer now that they were in at one point? Can they still get in now? Should she take it into the tech geeks at best buy now or something?

- Alex| 1 replyThey called me too. The guy was trying to explain to me that there was a virus eating my Internet Explorer, and would soon stop working. When I told him that I wasn't really sure if that is the way that viruses work, he told me that viruses work by eating your programs. I googled them, found this site along with a number of others regarding the same scam. I informed him of my findings, and he was still trying to get a sale. I have to give him credit for trying.

- Resident47 replies to AlexI almost wish some Russian kid *would* write a worm that "eats" MSIE. Historically, Interject Exploiter has been the vehicle for delivering and harboring so many internet-borne ailments it would not make sense for the scammers to encourage its destruction. The more typical behavior for malicious code is to quietly attach itself someplace in a system and behave like a parasite. Wrecking your installed programs is certainly possible but counterproductive. Obviously this caller is hoping his victims are even dumber than him about how software works, which apparently leaves very little wiggle room on the way down to zero knowledge.
- TThey got me...also charged extra on my credit card and had to cancel it. Said they worked with Microsoft and it was serious problem!

- BStacyI had a client call me with this same issue -Wow they are getting bold to say the least - she was smart and hung up and called me - I shall be there tomorrow to dis-infect her computer. Microsoft would never ever call you - unless you call them first - GREAT page thanks for helping me work this out - Cheers and

- AFYup
Same deal happened to us. Disgusting
My husband fell for it. They charged our card $156.78 Cdn on April 25.
I called many time and they told me the amount was being refunded tomorrow and they would call me back. Today the telephone number is out of service. - Grim Reaper replies to conabearYou've written an almost exact account of what happened to me today. I can understand how technologically ignorant computer users can believe the B.S. and be scared into giving computer access and paying. I'll bet the credit card companies aren't able to retrieve any of the funds they reimburse to their customers.
- Janei cannot even understand his English... if u just said "Sorry you stop stealing my Phone number and also i am not using Microsoft." they will stop talking !! and just hangup!!

- RonR| 2 repliesToday is July 13 and through my computer ignorance I got burned for $160.I feel so embasrassed and angry thast I let this happen. Now I wonder if he can hack me.That is how he scared me by saying someone was copying something and I could get busted for it.I felt something was wrong and asked my son but he is as computer ignorant as me.They could pull this on millions of unsuspecting users. To top it off I felt bad that I could not understand him but now I realize that is part of the scam.Maybe they are sockin it to the Infidels! Dude said his name was Peter Marshall.
