- nimue19I've gotten calls from 336-393-1085, 954-503-2843, 801-945-9061, 800-592-1160, 212-380-3114, and 623-492-8037. My bill at AmEx was due on 5/2. I started getting calls on Sat, 5/7. They gave me Mother's Day off, but I've gotten 5 calls a day since. I've had this account for over 10 years & this is the first time I've been late. It's really pretty ridiculous. I'm only ignoring them because they've tried to hide their identity! They leave one message (the first call of the day), stating that they are American Express & that it isn't a telemarketing call, but they leave a different 800 number for me to call. I'm sure it probably is them, because I'm overdue, but I'd be wary of calling any number except the one given to me by AmEx on the back of my card & giving them any information.
- Caller: Claims to be American Express
- Call type: Debt collector
- PrudenceAMEX......YEA, I know I'm late. No need to call me 6 times a day. It doesn't help.

- Renee LevittGot a call on my cell phone at 8:52 am 050311. No message left. I am being harassed by phone calls, often auto-dialed from American Express on both my cell phone and land line. I know and have acknowledged that I owe them money. I refuse to discuss it on the phone with their often abusive representatives at the times that are convenient to them and not to me without being prepared. I need to keep my morale up to keep going through this difficult financial time I am having as I try to stay optimistic and take positive opportunities to succeed.

- Mike Oxbig| 1 replyanother annoying unknown number calling.
- DB replies to Mike OxbigCalled twice - no message. If it is Amex, my account shows $0 payment due.
- vvggIt's a scam caller claiming to be AmEx, "vishing" for account information. You can read about my experience here, if you'd like: http://tinyurl.com/6cxlgcu
If you have an AmEx account, I recommend calling their official customer service number (probably listed on the back of your card or on their official website) before calling this number.- Caller: SCAM AmEx
- The X ManSimilar situation to most of the previous posts. 2 Calls. No message. What the hell did they want with me?
- EricGot a call from this number number and another from 212 area code in NY. Both are AMEX looking for money.
No proper caller ID = No answer from me.- Caller: AMEX
- shirtReceived a call from this #. No one talked after I answered, but they did not hang up either. I called them back and got American Express. They asked for your account #. My guess is, that's not American Express on the other end, but if you give them your account #, they will use it.
- Petra| 1 replyI did not answer this call. Received several phone calls with unfamiliar phone numbers, 623-492-8037 and 800--266-7073, all numbers I discovered on this website. Others were also associated with scams. I don't have nor ever had an American Express account so it is very likely. I reported this to the Federal Trade Commission.

- Linda replies to PetraI don't have an American Express account and they keep calling me too! I'm getting pissed.
- JenniferMy phone is getting blown up with random numbers at least three times a day, this number being the most used. It calls at all hours of the day and night. MAKE THEM STOP!

- Haley| 2 repliesReceived a call from this number, I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. I don't have an AMEX, nor do I need or want one. If they call again I will pick up to remind them my number is on the DO NOT CALL LIST! Maybe a lawsuit after that.
- Brianmultiple calls from this , number, but no voicemail
- SteveYes, it's American Express. I am filing for bankruptcy. You should see the calls I get all day.
- Ian Lyngklip replies to Haley| 1 replyThe TCPA (Telephone Consumer Protection Act) allows creditors to use an autodialer to call you on your residential or cell phone if they have your consent. Courts have found consent where a consumer gives their number to the creditor during the application process. Some creditors are now putting consent clauses in their contracts.
If you are receiving autodialer calls from one of your own creditors, you need to do is to let them know that you no longer consent to these calls and demand that they cease communications with you. You need to do this in writing. Keep a copy of the return receipt with the letter you send.
Once you have withdrawn your consent, you may have rights under the TCPA for calls to your home phone. Your best option may be to consult an attorney to find out if you have any rights under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) or your own state's collection laws. - DaveThis is American Express. We are late with our payment and they are just calling us to collect the money that we owe them. Not a problem. I made a payment online, and they went away. Easy.
