It's the Metropolitan Opera. I don't know why they called, but I love the Met, so I hope it wasn't anything important.

Id this is The Met Opera it's not their official #.  Must be an outside
marketing firm raising $$ (former Patron for over 20 years), now not
a subscriber at any level.  Poor marketing!

The history of the MET's fundraising calls is interesting. I am a MET guild member and donor. For a number of years
I got calls from the central phone number 212-362-6000 with caller ID Met Opera. I never answered any of them. Apparently
not many people did. Then, for a while, they dropped the ID and replaced it with Unavailable (same number). Next, they switched to an out-of-town number with ID Met Opera. Now they are back in NYC with ID New York NY. This operation can't be very successful.

Yes, I've noticed the same thing.  I too, am a member and donor.  Today the call came as "out of area."  I spoke, briefly, to the woman and asked why they call members who have expressly "unticked" the box.  She apologized and said they would remove my name from the call list.  We'll see.

They are very diligent and persistent, keep calling despite never getting picked up.  Why the rule against ever leaving a message?

They call my cell phone at dinnertime and don't leave a message. Number traces back to "Metropolitan Opera Customer Service." I attended the opera once this fall but am neither a donor nor a subscriber. A poster on a site like this one said they'll stop calling if you answer the phone and tell them you're not interested. I'm going to try that next time.

Received two calls from the same number on 12/29 at 6:23pm + again today 12/30 at 5:33pm. At least leave a message!

They do not stop calling if you tell them to stop, they don't  make a note in your account, so next time it comes to the top of the list you get called again.

Call from this number during dinner time. It said "Unknown Caller" and I let ti go to voice mail, no message was left. If someone wants to fundraise, they need to identify themselves.

This is not the actual Met office calling. It has to be some outside source.
I am a donor/member and have also been a patron. Whenever the "real" met called me they always left a message. This call just hangs up.

Called me at 6:45pm, March 1, during dinner time, no message was left.

Definitely an outside service calling on behalf of the Metropolitan Opera trying to solicit money. Caller hangs up mid sentence, as if anticipating my hang up. If anyone with some say at the MET is reading this message, this service you are using is absolutely incompetent, annoying and, I bet, 100% ineffective.

Yes...The MET.. Just block their number on your cell and you will never hear from them again (that is until they change their number).

I have been a subscriber, member of the Guild and donor since 1975. For the past few years I have told them time and time again that considering the awful productions,  mostly mediocre singing and annoying phone calls, they will never get another donation from me. Have told them to take me off their lists permanently. Water breath.

I didnt answer. They left no message.
