- MEL| 1 replyGot a call from this number at 10:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning in Arizona. A very "campy" sarcastic-sounding man asked if this was "Jane Alexander." I said no. He then read back our phone number and said, "Is this the number I am calling?" Without thinking, I replied "Yes," and added, "It is, but we've had this number for a long time..." He then said goodbye, still sounding sarcastic. I now wonder if it was a ploy to get people to say the magic word YES and record it for credit card scams... The call had a bad vibe and left me feeling uneasy.
- Caller: Don't know
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- Tygerkat replies to MELThey don't need you record you saying "yes" for credit card scams - or any other scams, for that matter. If that was all it took to perpetrate the scam, they could just record anyone.
- UpyourColoratura!BOLLOCKS! Metropolitan Opera? Your marketing has become as vile as your shabby productions! Asked to be removed from their calling list with no favourable result. My donation will be going to La Fenice this year.
- Caller: The Metropolitan Opera
- VVN TI subscribed to the Met HD online for 1 month. I made sure to uncheck the boxes giving them permission to contact me with any offers. They ignored that and still called me to offer me to become a patron for a lowly cost of $2,750. I told them I subscribed to their online service because I can't afford to attend any of the live ones let alone become a patron.
- Caller: The Met Opera Company
- Call type: Unwanted
- YMHas been trying to reach me for 3 days, I finally pick up, say hello? There's heavy breathing and then a whispered, creepy "hi" – I immediately hang up. If this is the Met, what the heck is this marketing ploy?
- Caller: ?
- VTI made the mistake of subscribing to their online streaming service in July. In August, I received a fundraising phone call. They had the gall to ask me to donate $2,000. Nope. I cancelled the service. And here we are, 1 month later and they have called me again to donate.
- Caller: The Metropolitan Opera
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- AlexaUserLooking at my call history from this number that have been calling me very persistently every two days. I might have donated but not after this! I've donated in the past. If anyone from the Opera is reading this, please stop these calls, they are tarnishing your image.
- Caller: Identified as metropolitan Opera
- BreeI have blocked this number, so my phone doesn't ring when they call me, but when I look at my Verizon account online, my call history shows that this number has called me almost every day for the last two weeks. They're apparently too stupid to have figured out that they're not going to get through no matter how often they call me. It pleases me to know that they're wasting their time on an exercise in futility.
- FayeAnne2The Met must be trying to recoup losses. I did not answer as it said unknown caller. No message left.
- Enriqe replies to AmandaActually, it was. Money
- hdtvguyNo caller ID name, always a red flag. I answered, nobody was there.
- Call type: Silent call
- Peter DGI love The Met but can't believe anyone would be stupid enough to support this kind of fundraising crap.
- bobkruSame experience as all the other commenters.
- bcwCaller ID: New York NY No message left
