- Bunty_Shroeder| 3 repliesYou sound FAR too sensible to work there anyway. Most of us mugs (myself included) did no research and before I knew it I was in the boardroom at 2am with every other cretin racking up lines of coke.
It's tough getting decent work at the moment. I have a lot of friends who are having the same issue.
O run my own business and have pointed a lot of friends in the director on a site called Odesk. It means you can work from home doing all sorts of things ranging from data entry to telesales. I know it's not a career as such but it will keep the wolf from the door until you find the job thats right for you.
Don't fall into the trap of just taking any old [***] job that comes along because the market is tough. Hold out for the one that feels right for you. I wish you great luck in finding something awesome. :) - OMG! replies to Bunty_Shroeder| 1 replyThat is very sweet of you thanks.
I'm fortunate in the fact I do actually have a job at the moment! I'm just looking for something more challenging...
Thanks for the advice, I'm feeling alot more hopeful now. : )
All the best to you too. x - Ex-GDS-Tosser replies to OMG!Columbia University is a great place to search for interesting entry level jobs. Actually, check any university site in NY. They've got some great research assistant positions.
Also idealist.org is a great place to find challenging/meaningful work that looks great on your resume.
The UN also has tons of interesting positions (also great on your resume).
Avoid GDS - Not a career. - old school replies to Bunty_Shroederyou woulnt have the initials begining with M would you? I worked at gds for years on sales, left before the move to queens square, and have been trying to remember you? Im not going to blurt names on here, were you there when JG was SD, working under RM, do you remember bernie
- MasiusWow, this is so funny, I went on a job interview with GDS years ago.... had to be late '03 or early '04. The place was in Brooklyn then. Saw an ad recently saying they're now in the trump building. I was surprised to see they were still around and did a google search, found this blog.......Anyway Some black dude interviewed me and I remember being so pissed within minutes of walking through the door that I had wasted train and subway fare commuting in from Jersey to go to this sweat shop. Obviously I never returned the guys phone call when he followed up with me the next day to see what I thought.
This place was a scam as soon as stepped foot inside, if you didn't realize that you're probably pretty dumb or just really money hungry. - Russell| 1 replyI'm in the process of putting together a law suit against this company for many different reasons. my lawyer is gathering all the information from companies they've worked with in the past. you can not lie and cheat and steal and think you're going to get away with it.
GDS, you're going down! don't think what you're doing is right. you are nothing but a scam! if anyone can provide information about all the upper managements there, it would be much appreciated as they are the ones that will need to testify in court for their actions- Caller: GDS International
- For all those in the UK?If you have had a bad experience of GDS publishing and its un savory sales practices the BBC want to hear from you. We have recieved numerous complaints and are looking for as many complaints as possible to raise awareness of their business practices. We need a minimum of 30 complaints to be registered. Copy and paste the link.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/gotastory/ - Russell| 3 repliesThank you for providing me with the names of upper management. Do they have a GM in their NY office? A client we're talking to have also signed a contract in the past with Alex. I don't know his last name but we're still looking for the contract.
For anyone who is still working there, I would advise you to leave...especially if you're apart of upper management or we'll be seeing you in court soon.- Caller: GDS International
- more information replies to Russellthat would be Alex Sobol the sales director of the NY2 office. Just watch the recruitment video on there website to get any more names you need. Everything you need is there
- information replies to Russelloh, and just a word of advice, be careful with the comments of 'leave soon' that could be deemed as intimidation and harrassing behaviour which is also a crime in its own right. Good luck with your attempts to toppe GDS, alot have tried and alot have failed.
- Meg| 3 repliesOMG, i work with a bunch of [***]. I found out today that the ex CEO never went to college and was practically harassing girls and got let go after numerous lawsuits. The utility manager is still trying to graduate but he is managing a team...WTF!!! I went to a good college for crying out loud and I'm being told what to do by an SD who is dating an employee at work. Is that even right? Can you get this job without graduating from college? Is this seriously a real company? FML for not researching this company more.
I'm quitting tomorrow...this place is [***] up!- Caller: GDS International
- jp82funny that i stumbled onto this website. I was only there for the training week in may of 08. I was excited that i got the job even though i only went for the interview 2 days ago and that the offer was e-mailed to me and they wanted me to start right away. I was suspicious from the start but the starting salary and commission rates seemed pretty good. Owen Wilson did the interview and promised me that i got make 100k and move up to a management position if i worked hard.
by reading the pitch that i had to repeat over and over, and absorbing the work environment, i knew that this seemed like a boiler room and that the core of this operation is chiseling money out of mid size businesses and putting it ito there pockets by using false information. I didnt get the job because they only wanted to keep half the trainees who impressed them. I wasn't one of them. I guess that turned out to be a good thing.
I still think about this place from time to time (like now)and wonder what my life would have been like if i was there. I met a really good girl in my trainee group who i wished that i kept in contact with. She got hired and I wonder about her and if she is still there. I hope not though but if she is then she is one of the few good souls there - J replies to MegMeg.. Are you on Delegates?
- Russell2Russell - Have you shown your lawyer this website?
In NY Office (the only office in the US/A), Rob Davis (Sales Director), Alex Sobol (Sales Director), Harry Zapata (Human Resources), Michael Deedigan (Human Resources) - gina TThis place is totally bogus. I used to work there too! Until i figured out it was a scam and quickly left! Lots of drugs involved with this company

- Dave replies to BEX DAVIES| 1 replyI just checked the BPA website. None of the GDS mags are audited or applied for.
- Itron| 1 replyI truly am not sure why there are so many terrible things posted here. I have been a client of GDS for years on both the summit and publication side... always impressed and happy with the results they are able to give us here at Itron.

- hahahahatrying to save face....oh wait...all the execs they told u were coming to the summits did show up and the magazine does go out to actual people.....or maybe not
- Previous Client| 1 replyAs one of the top semiconductor companies in the industry, our company signed up as a sponsor with GDS on the supposition the executives they presented to us on their 'web site' would be present. As a VP of Sales and Marketing overseeing a product line it is important to network with key executives across industry and my executives surmised the event would be worth while. They even sent my executives over their 'contract' they 'claimed' everyone who was on the web site had to sign. Far from the truth because when I got to the event basically every high level executive we were expecting to see was not there and they kept changing our schedule so we did not have any control over who we met with. Basically our company spent 60,000 dollars on a 'gold' sponsorship to meet with low level managers and people I could of got on the phone myself. Ultimate waste of time and money. I recommend to anyone thinking about a GDS event to do some serious research before making your decision. Needless to say the executives who made our company decision on the GDS event are not with us anymore.
- Sharp replies to Previous ClientI decided to not interview with GDS because of this thread. I am shocked that they have existed for this long through these practices. Have there been ANY successful major lawsuits against this company?
Also, to the previous poster, I am sorry you were scammed, but you did the right thing by letting go those executives. 5 minutes on google and a nominal amount of thought should be enough to clue anyone that GDS is not a reliable company.
