the GDS Product range replies to (E)x-GDS
My biggest problem was that there is no tangiable product.

Say you get done over by a used car salesman and buy a lemon, well lemon or not you still have a car, buying anything from GDS is a complete waste of money as you get NOTHING!

And forcing employees to stand is a joke, there is no reason that the job couldn't  be done sitting down. The whole management structure is about power and control, not about results, in my time there I knew people who got sales and results but were sacked or demoted for an unexplained reason and I myself was given a target to meet when none of the other trainees that stated withme were, and I exceeded that two week target by $20 000 and was still made to come into a meeting to beg to keep my job.

Because I had had enough of everything when the GM asked me if I wanted to really be here I answered "I don't care anymore" rather than the yes that would have kept me in the job, they sacked me and when I asked about the commissions for my sales he said "let's get this right buddy when you leave you forfit any commission that may have been payable".

When I worked there my honest oppinion was that the sort of personality needed for the job was someone from a military background, who would just do as they are told without question and who is really concious of higherarchy and does not question the people in charge. But reading back through the archive of this forum I can see that even people from the armed forces who worked there were not impressed with these guys.

And I'll ask this question a million times if I have to until I get an answer; what happened to the magzines, why did these magazines that were the backbone of the business with over 80 000 readers just dissappear without so much as an annoucement by GDS?

Perhaps once you start trading in Chinese and SA publications a long 'English' name is a PITA, then your name has history and would be too difficult to change.

There may be lots to complain about GDS, I don't know, but I can't understand why people are bleating on about the events are scams.  Common sense says they can't be, afterall people would find out wouldn't they.  You only have to #istrategy on twitter to see loads of positive feedback.

Erm....companies can issue shares without them being listed, some call them golden handcuffs, they are like a bonus and are paid out over time if you're still with the company.,  As GDS is privately owned these are not stock like shares....

There appear to be a lot of BITTER ex-employees as you say.  Perhaps that says more about the company than those who left.

Considering the contempt they have and the amount who take the time to comment about GDS does cast a big shadow over them.

Added to this, most employees are scammed into working there with their fuzzy 'job description' and interview. Educated people think they are getting a career, and all they get is their time wasted, when they could be working for a decent company.
They end up with a blot on their CV's, having been sacked from this highly dubious company. Of course they are angry. Wingeing about 'bitter ex employees' and 'failures' only reflects the culture of humiliation at GDS. People on the receiving end of this have become immune to the degradation that they are forced to endure daily, and can't stop themselves when defending the company on this blog.

    Editing War
After a prolonged editing war on Wikipedia I fell into a laughing fit when I read this message on the GDS Wikipage.

It is proposed that this article be deleted because of the following concern:

Appears to be self-promoting. Cannot see cited assertion of notability, other than being nominated for two non-notable awards, one of which has only existed in 2011

If you can address this concern by improving, copyediting, sourcing, renaming or merging the page, please edit this page and do so. You may remove this message if you improve the article or otherwise object to deletion for any reason. However please explain why you object to the deletion, either in your edit summary or on the talk page. If this template is removed, it should not be replaced.

And I bet if they do some research they will find that GDS gave this award to themselves.

That's no problem, another good job done cheap.
To anyone else considering a job with this company, it is worth mentioning that the job consists in its entirety of making unsollicited calls to companies, many of whom have made it clear that they wish no further contact with gds. Yet the job description and interview do not explain this. You don't realise this until it is too late, and you are given a script to shout down the phone. You will spend your days harassing secretaries to get through to c level executives, and if they won't put you through, you abuse them.  You have to lie outright about the value of the product, which is largely worthless.
Should you not conform exactly as required, even down to attending the compulsory company drinking binges, you will be fired, ostensibly because you 'can't sell'. Non-conformists could be weeded out by gds being honest when adveritising the job, but the job description is deliberately vague on this. This is to make sure people join, and to ensure that there are plenty of people to sack, creating a climate of fear,  thereby encouraging employees to stalk, harass, lle and ignore all moral and legal obligations to get a sale and stay in a job.
Real sales is about fitting a product to a customer's needs, and is therefore both harder, and more rewarding than a gds 'sales' job which after all, consists of reading from a script.
If you have genuine sales skills, modern organisations will offer you a rewards package that consists of more than just commission. Company share schemes, contributory pension, healthcare, car etc will work out over the long term as a better deal all round. Gds don't even do sick pay (Spencer won't put up with people phoning in with hangovers, so sickness is discouraged).

Most importantly, you have the right to be treated with respect by your employer, which is a commodity that is in short supply at gds.

"Cell Phone training as Conducted by Joe Aglio"

Pre-Note; Before you work there, you should know that you will have to lie to everyone you come in contact with in order to "do the job". This includes trying to get C-Level execs on thier cell phones.

This is some of the actual handout given by GDS and sanctioned by VP Alex Sobel

"I haven't done a deal without obtaining a cell phone number.  Most direct route into the decision maker at any time. Be creativeno one way to obtain cell numbers is the same. Stick with what works pertaining to the guide lines......."

"Pose a an individual from a partnering company- to do this effectivley, go onto the company's website, look for the tab :technology partners" and pick one of the larger ones. Now go to that company's website and select a C level person to pose as. Now call the company you want to obtain the number for, call a receptionist of that person and give them the following story.... You have a breakfast meeting with so-and-so here in NYC, the meeting was at 11;30 and it is now 11:50. You have been waiting here for him for over 20 minutes. This meeting was scheduled by your assistant who is now on maternity leave, and you need to reach the person immidiatley. The key here is to sound convincing, make it real..as if this is actually happening to you.

Other ways they teach yu is to pretend you work for the company and have "lost your blackberry" and need to contact so and so RIGHT NOW. And if that does not work, call offices all over the world until you get what you want.

I could go on and on.

I hope companies will look at this and educate their staff as to how to avoid these pitfalls.

Whether 800notes delete pro-GDS posts or anti-GDS posts last weeks global figures were £1,390,000. In a week. So all the BS from all the failed sales-people on here is just noise.

Dropping a piece of cotton on concrete would have more impact than anything failed staff have to say on 800notes.

NOW THE PROCESS OF THE EVENT WILL WORK AS FOLLOWS.  IF YOU CAN IMAGINE ______ YOU WOULD ARRIVE AT __________ THERE WILL BE A COCKTAIL RECEPTION AND THE OPENING GALA DINNER WHERE (INSERT PERSON WE NEVER SPOKE TO OR HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH...SAY WE DO) WILL BE PRESENTING.  THIS IS ESSENTIALLY A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR EVERYONE TO GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER IN A RELAXED ENVIRONMENT.
    WHEN THE REAL BUSINESS BEGINS.
THE OPERATORS WILL TAKE PART IN SIX WORKSHOPS OF THEIR CHOICE WITH THE ANLAYST GROUPS OVER THE TWO DAYS AND BACK THAT UP WITH SPECIFIC VENDOR MEETINGS.

WE ARE ONLY INVITING 20 SOLUTIONS PROVIDERS TO ATTEND THIS EVENT VERSES 65 DELAGATES, CREATING A 3-1 RATIO OF DELEGATES TO SOLUTIONS PROVIDERS.  THE BENEFIT BEING THAT THE DELEGATES WILL ONLY HAVE A LIMITED NUMBER OF MEETINGS, ONLY 4 PER DAY, SO WHEN THEY SIT DOWN WITH YOU THEY ARE FRESH AND YOU HAVE THEIR FULL ATTENTION.

YOU GUYS, THE SOLUTIONS PROVIDERS, WILL HAVE 8 MEETINGS PER DAY OVER THE 2 DAY PERIOD, SO THAT’S A TOTAL OF 16 MEETINGS WITH THE DELEGATES OF YOUR CHOICE.  YOU WILL HAVE 4 - 40 MINUTE ONE ON ONE MEETINGS IN THE MORNING.  THERE WILL THEN BE A KEYNOTE WORKSHOP AND LUNCH FOLLOWED BY 4 MORE MEETINGS IN THE AFTERNOON.  AFTERWARDS, THERE WILL BE DRINKS AND DINNER.  THIS WILL THEN BE REPEATED ON THURSDAY.

    LIE
    LIE
    LIE

YOU WILL NAME PEOPLE GDS HAS NO RELATIONSHIPS WITH

Currently looking for 1 company to cover ____________________, either yourselves, X, Y or Z.

SO, THINGS HAVE COME TOGETHER VERY NICELY, TO GET YOU INVOLVED, THE PACKAGE I WANTED TO OFFER YOU IS A SILVER SPONSORSHIP, IT’S AN AGGRESSIVE 2 DAYS OF DIRECT SELLING.  YOU WILL RECEIVE 16 - 40 MINUTE 1-ON-1 FORMAL MEETINGS WITH THE DELEGATES OF YOUR CHOICE, ACCESS TO ALL SUMMIT WORKSHOPS AND PANEL DISCUSSIONS, AND MULTIPLE NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES AT BREAKFAST, LUNCH, COCKTAILS, AND DINNER THROUGHOUT THE 3 DAY SUMMIT.  ALL ACCOMMODATIONS, FOOD AND DRINKS WILL BE INCLUDED AS WELL.

SO CLOSING THIS UP FOR YOU.  THE PRICE FOR 2 EXECUTIVES TO ATTEND IS $59,900 USD - THAT INCLUDES ADDITIONAL BRANDING THROUGH A SINGLE PAGE AD IN THE SUMMIT GUIDE AND PHYSICAL BANNER ADVERTISING THAT WILL FEATURED IN ALL THE SUMMIT MEETINGS AND WORKSHOP ROOMS.

CLOSE………………..Now that’s a full overview of the event and I hope you agree it’s going to be a fantastic summit, the delegate list and other vendors have come together really well, but tell me (name) from what I’ve said is this something you feel will benefit your companies activities in North America?Do not accept “maybe”, “sounds OK”, “I’m not sure”, etc. Re-close on the delegate list / roundtable topics / workshop presentation or what ever got him excited in the pitch. E.g “Ok, (name) but just having another look at that delegate list, are these the guys that you would look to target? Fantastic!! Now I’ve given you a lot of information, so what I’d like to do is get an email across to you confirming everything I’ve said, with the password and a pdf attachment outlining the different packages, but just so I’m clear, when that email reaches you, what would be the decision making process to get you guys involved in something like this? Most find out who else is involved in the decision. Ask the following:-                      Who else would you need to speak to about this?-                      Would you need to bring anyone in marketing up to speed about this?-                      Sorry to keep peppering you with questions (name) but who would make the final decision?Find out names of EVERYONE involved in the decision making process. Now, like I said, the total cost to be involved comes in at $49,900 for 1 person to attend and $59,900 for 2 people to attend. Considering the market we are talking about this is obviously not a huge amount of money, but if you were to go ahead with this, who ultimately would hold the budget in your organization? If budget is a problem re-pitch benefits, justify the cost Will one or two people be attending? Now, just to let you know the timelines we are working to, we only invite 20 vendors to participate in our events so this really is an exclusive opportunity. What that means is, because many of the bigger vendors (such as Microsoft; C.A.) in this space, rebook for every event we have already filled 13 positions, so time is not on my side in allocating these final few positions. Obviously, I’m not looking for a decision now, I want you to do your due diligence and be 100% happy before you get involved, but the longest I can hold one of these slots would be for a day or two. So, the email will be with you in the next 10 minutes, what would be a good time to call tomorrow  (once you’ve had a chance to….. (speak to whoever or look at email.)Ok, at this stage assuming you want to go ahead, I will need to get across an allocation form stating the package and the price for someone to sign and fax back to me, would you be the person to sign off on that or does someone else do it?Fantastic!!Build some RAPPORT!!!!!! It is essential to finish the call with some rapport! Ask about sports, weather, have they been the resort before, do the play golf? It would be great to sit and get a beer at the resort! FINISH WITH A YES!!!!!!!!Ok (name) it’s been great speaking with you. Do you have any further questions at this stage?        No, ok I’ll get the info over to you now. Final question (name) if (x happens) do you think there’s a good chance we’ll be getting you involved?  Great!!

The fact that the scam brings in money is your defense? FACT: The delegate lists are made up. FACT: The magazines never made it to anyone FACT: None of your people sit on "an advisory board" FACT: IDC has told you time and time again to stop FALSELY representing them. FACT: You hire kids right out of school for the sole purpose of having people who are gullible and do not realize that what you do is completely unethical, and in a lot of cases illegal. FACT: That little weasel Jason "Dudley Moore" Green is the biggest crook of all, riding the backs of kids straight into hell

27 yr old CEO? Please. You just wait and see what lies ahead for you in the real world when GDS comes crashing down.

    It's True
This is what actual "training" looks like at GDS. The "official" company stance is supposed to be not to do it. But sadly, people are actually brought into conference rooms in groups and taught this. They even have audio tapes of how it should go. The sad reality is, the events and magazines are made up on the fly. If they contacted you, be sure you ask for a list of "delegates" and a way to contact them to be sure these people are actually going. Also, the "director" or "manager" or VP you are speaking to, is more than likely nothing more than a 22 year old with a headset on, being coached by a more seasoned scammer. Listen closely, you will hear classic boiler room style call center noises in the background. If you listen real close, you will probably hear someone in the background saying word for word what you are hearing the person speaking to you is saying. They will feed you lines such as "we have already booked 18 of 20 spots", and "Time is not on my side" which is total nonsense. Also, if you do decide to go, they will negotiate down all the way to around 30% of the original asking price because they "already met their revenue targets"
