- If only I could quitI worked with quite a few GDS or rather ex GDS guys at a company I worked for and I respected them for their work ethic and for their sense of comedy. Nothing seemed to get them down however bad a call was, they seemed to take it on the chin. I don't know about everyone else but every sales company I have worked for has been pretty much the same with the guys chasing commission what ever way they can. Some of the big computer services company are totally unethical as well in trying to get a number.

- Smart but GreenDo people @ GDS actually take themselves seriously? Think they'll be there for a long time? Are actually doing selling in real business world?
What are you lot thinking? Nobody has the critical intelligence to stop for one sec and ask why they take some of their actions? Why is there such a high disposal of people? Why they've stopped their mags? Why google search is flooded with some shiat about Scams? Why recruiters don't wanna know them? Why the industry don't respect them?
GDS is slowly but surely becoming obsolete........GDS image is now forever tainted, globally, with sites like these and a few others giving Olly Smart, Giggsy, that Golly Giant Spencer a little taste of their own medicine.....!- Caller: Golly Welsh Giant!

- Russian| 2 repliesI am a senior executive of one russian holding, this GDS got my cell phone number (our secretaries weren't trained back in a day I respected english-speaking callers) and every now and then different ppl calling me offering to advertise in magazines, or participate in summits, etc. Just by the way they talk you can feel its a scam. I ask them to forget about me, yet they call over and over again. Not a big deal, a little annoying yes, but what surprises me is that you (UK and US companies that get calls from them) cant shut them down. As I see you sending claims to disctrict attorneys and they are still up and running.

- neil| 2 repliesGDS is a UK registered company, and their head office is in Bristol. It may be worth contacting Spencer Green, the CEO on +44 (0)117 921 4000, and ask to be placed on the 'do not call' list. Under UK law, they are obliged to respect your wishes. If this fails, submit a formal complaint. Log on to www.insolvency.gov.org for further information.

- neil replies to neilSorry, that should read www.insolvency.gov.uk
- good luck... replies to neilThere is no list or data base, sales people are told smash this industry up for this event and use your own time to leadsource and find people to call, whether they have or haven't been contacted before is impossible to tell and "do not call me anymore" means nothing to the management.
- sydney chap| 1 replyThey have unethical interviewing techniques also, essentially told me to unlearn everything I knew after 7 years in senior b2b sales management positions. Dodgy [removed:lang] company!

- Beijing Bruiser| 7 repliesRecently came across this site, and to be honest I am some what surprised at the comments. I left GDS in 2005, after spending around 5 years there, I have no regrets and to be honest I am thankful for my time there.
Have always found Spencer to be an ok bloke, he looks after the people that work hard.
I can appreciate many of the comments about the pitches and such, but cant understand why a whole thread is dedicated to it, some people have way to much time on their hands.
I think its time you moved on. If you hate the company then why waste your time writing about it? I will try to balance the scales here and help them out with some free SEO support.- Caller: GDS - OK

- Scam replies to Beijing Bruiser| 6 repliesIts OK to like GDS. Or to have had a good experience there. Its free speech and there is nothing wrong with having an opinion....I learned a few things at GDS, I too worked bloody hard and was rewarded by Spencer. There were some moments when I felt close to my team, like we're all in this together...
But nothing could counter all the lies we ultimately sold on, what had happened in regards to with how some women were treated and the fact that it was all a scam, a way for Spence to make money and squeeze some juice out of some overly enthusiastic, overly aggressive, overly eager, delusional grads...
Its their time so these people obviously feel extremely motivated to come here and expose some GDS practices, their people management, their misrepresentations, values or lack of and experiences..
Spencer always said he started his company after seeing a good mate get fired in a questionable manner for questionable reasons....Now I say- what I had to see from his own Company I wonder why he'd bother starting it at all?
We will move on just fine...but all you young grads and legitimate business leaders be Warned! GDS scams everything out of everyone and there is always one winner and one winner only! Its a Scam! - beijing bruiser replies to Scam| 5 repliesGDS for me had its ups and downs and despite getting stabbed in the back and let down big time, is neither here nor there. It was what it was.
I have no delusions as to what the company or who indeed Spencer is. However, at the end of the day I would stand by Spencer above and beyond the likes of James Craven and many other FORMER GDS employees who have started their own firms using the OLD GDS ways.
I won't defend the shoddy business that has gone on before. I cant really blame the corruption of innocence on the likes of Spencer as people are smart enough to know what they are getting into, I have not seen anyone on here leave out of principle and hand back all the commission earned, or even given it to charity.
I have been in business long enough to know that we live in a world where dog eats dog, I get phone calls daily from companies pretending to be from BT, only then to discover they are a reseller for someone else.
No one has died whilst working for GDS and no one has done any time for the way in which it does business.
GDS do have good people working there, and some seriously dodgy ones, so they are getting better ;-)
I wish them well, as I do those who have left.
However, if there is a James Craven Execution any time soon, then I will be there front seat with my popcorn. Hypocrisy? hmm, perhaps. - Gay Smarty replies to beijing bruiser| 4 repliesAs much as I don't want to say it! I really don't... I did keep all that money and did in the beginning especially was enjoying it. Craven of course everyone knows who he is, but he was mostly hated by the old guard crowd.....I was with the new, heard stories, but largely ignored his [***]! Our campaigns were ridiculous in their own right and no one could resist messing with the trainee's!
There were plenty of good people but the entire system was kinda stinky so when you'd hanged around there long enough you'd see bad things happening to everybody, eventually, including Spencer himself, who was always polite with me!
No one has died working for GDS...yes, but I've seen people's self esteem broken, few went into depressions and some worked themselves into an absolute mess, specially after those drinking parties..but yeah it was their choice and their ultimate responsibility even if brainwashed with all that waffle culture.
But as far as corruption of innocence...the way they play it is very tricky. Even if you are smart it does take a while to tune in and realize what is what and who is who! By that time your psychology is being worked in very subtle ways....all in the image, impressions and acting! AND I'D SEE PLENTY LEAVE PURELY OUT OF PRINCIPLE..... I really did Promise!
GDS does have good people but I don't wish the Company well, the less of their type the better! - Russian replies to Khttp://www.ngoilgascis.com/
no russian summit you say? - beijing bruiser replies to Gay Smarty| 3 repliesI honestly think you are giving them to much credit to have the intelligence to understand psychology. From day one it was obvious that it was a company run by the "Boys Club", even when I started in 2000 they were still wet behind the ears, still fumbling around trying to find their identity.
The Casino almost brought them to their knees, and had they continued then we would not be having this conversation.
GDS have had a lot of really bad people working for them, thankfully they are all but gone. The likes of Wardy and Craven, it was those sort of people that brought the company reputation to dirt.
Spencer made some AWFUL managerial decisions outside of sales and equally bad choices in who took the company whip.
10 years on, its not the same company I worked for, and that has to be a good thing. They have got rid of all the original brat pack that were there when the company started, and to be honest it was the right decision.
Don't get me wrong there are some bad seeds still floating, but I am sure that is more to do with fear than anything else.
I can honestly say that NOT a single person left GDS out of principle in the time I was there, many left because of management or were fired.
I just find it oddly hypocritical that you have those coming on here shouting about dodgy dealings while in the same breath they talk about commission owed to them for there own dodgy dealings, it really is contemptible.
Life is to short really, I have no regrets, I learned a lot and met good people. I can see beyond the crap to know that GDS is what it is in spite if threads like this. In fact I would go as far to say that this has probably been the best thing to happen to them as it has raised a platform for people to share there experiences (the good and the bad) and perhaps GDS has learned from it. I have seen some suggestions made here, and then seen them come to fruition.
I very much doubt that these threads will reach the clients unless they look specifically for it. Anyway, sites like this pray on the negative, who would seek out a phone number to write a good review? no-one so it really is not painting accurate picture.
If I could offer one solid piece of advice to GDS, it would be to stop looking here, and for god sake stop your staff from posting as they only serve to fuel the fire.
As for everyone else, I am sure you are better people for leaving and you take with you tales of sex, scandal and good times and maybe a few bad times. Either way its a closed chapter in your life, time to start the next one.
As for all those Spinoffs, take heed you could be next. - Still working replies to beijing bruiser| 2 repliesThey need to change their training a little mate that's for sure! All lies!
They need to be more upfront with the trainees and from the beginning let them know how it really works.
As far as other companies, they do check this site trust me...when this and other like this site (ripoff.com gdsinternationalscam.com - came out; all over the net you saw GDS + Scam burst like a bubble...why else GDS is flooding search engines posting talking about how Spencer is investigating Global warming scams and internet security.....
Its a hypocritical world and we all do hypocritical things...just so happens that at GDS hypocrisy comes with the territory= its always present!
Spencer's biggest mistake is that he wanted to succeed by any means..not giving a dam who and how would get him money.
Raven Craven is long gone..what Olly is doing and the words out of his mouth you couldn't tell a difference, especially now...they've managed to clone Craven into Olly=same bs! - beijing bruiser replies to Still working| 1 replyOlly, like Craven?
Wow he has come a long way since the early days. I cant comment on that as I never worked for Olly and never really had much to do with the guy. He came across as the arrogant pretty boy, but outside of that, a motivated individual who loved the green stuff. But I guess that would describe most of GDS.
Success is not a bad thing, neither is the pursuit of that success. We are all judged one day, and karma really can be a [***].
I would hope that by now Spencer has evolved from those dark days.
Perhaps its all a big PR campaign as you say, and if Olly is indeed another Craven, then I would think his cards are numbered. But then again could GDS Survive another Imitator Company, would Olly have the following to take a chunk of the workforce with him?
I have it on good authority that other former GDS employees are doing some seriously dodgy work that would even put GDS to shame. The fact that those people are no longer with GDS and operating rival online concepts does speak volumes to me.
You could blame GDS for creating these people, but, these people would have to be pretty corrupt already to be doing the stuff I have seen, it paints a pretty bad picture. - Runour| 1 replyIt's not just the Sydney office setting up alone certain people from the Cardiff office are doing the same thing as we speak, I eagerly await this breaking!
- beijing bruiser replies to Runourthis sort of thing has gone on for years, don't think it will stop now.
