Called many times over last few weeks but I never answered as I do not know anybody in Los Angeles. Called today and I finally answered and they asked me if I was familiar with a certain name. Sounds like a collection agency that is trying to find people.

called a relative of mine and asked for me. they asked her if she would accept legal documents on my behalf because someone files a complaint against me. It's either a scam or a bill collector trying to get info. goes back to a number called people find.

They called a relative of mine also, saying someone was filing a civil suit against me, In a state that I wasn't living in...

The more research I do, the more it looks like "Scammers with scare tactics."

Wow! Thank you for all that info, greatly appreciated! I knew these types of calls were a problem for people, but I never realized the extent of the harassment involved. Until now...

Got a call from these people today. Didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. Thanks for the info.

This number has called 2 people... 1 in a different state that I haven't lived in for 13 years, with a last name I haven't had for 13 years either. Just don't need this calling all my family telling them it is a legal issue with a case number TL #### Ridiculous!! To have to be harassed like this and have my family have to be harassed as well!!

 I received a call from some young lady asking for "name" and mentioned something about a complaint had been filed against "name" and there will be two more attempts before they serve said person.

 I was in a crowded place but went out to grab a pen so I could take down the number they said "name" would have to call to get more info on the complaint. I asked what the matter concerned and they again said the info would be given after a number was called.

I told them I now have a pen and asked if they could give me the name of the complainant and the name of the Legal office (of the number they were going to give me) that  would need to be contacted in this matter.

  The line went dead.

In this day and age you never know who might be suing you but I want to know if anyone else is actually having a complaint served on them or if this is just a fishing scam. Please follow up on your comments and I will do the same. Thanks

It is a phishing scam.

ANY LEGAL document has to be served BY a lawyer, law firm, attorney, the state or process server (depending on the state you live in).

According to the FTC and FCC law, the caller MUST identify themselves and company they are representing. Also, caller ID must be accurate as well (not deceptive). Plus, FOR LEGAL MATTERS, only the intended party should be notified, not those affiliated or assumed affiliated with intended party. It's a privacy issue which any lawyer would love to take. Looking for someone is different from using scare tactics to notify someone. The latter is illegal.

Everything about the call is illegal and appears to be phishing or using scare tactics
to get the intended party to act or provide information.

Telemarketing scams are on the rise. They are the new email scams. By LAW, concerning any legal documents being sent, trust me, you'll be contacted by an attorney or law enforcement or the state in writing FIRST (civil), so you will know who is calling and why, and criminal you'll be contacted by law enforcement and will be warned.

Know the laws folks and be smart. Never act on impulse in situations like these. Scams and deceitful people are everywhere nowadays.

When you answer they DO NOT identify themselves before they begin asking you questions. That is the first tip its crooks.

That is illegal! They can not send any personal or legal information to anyone other than the intended party. They can ask for your whereabouts but that is about it! Even mentioning the word "legal documents" is against the law. It is deceitful and a violation of the FDCPA law (google/bing).

I would lawyer up. You can easily get paid. Trust me, if any legal entity wanted to find you they would call you personally or send the law out to find you using your local sheriff or police department (if you are really bad, FBI or DEA, or Swat

I got another call fro them today and was actually waiting for it after doing some research. ;)

..My research turned up this number as well as a couple others have been emanating from Los Angeles and they were/are using a "Magic Jack" which sometimes shows they are at the homebase of "Magic Jack" itself in Texas.

 My search also showed that they have been doing this for months with this number and others but would also do a second or even third call.

 This time as soon as they asked for "named" I asked what the name of their company is and where they are located. She said National Locating Services in California. (I never got this info on the last call)

 I asked what city in California and she said California is where they are located. She proceeded to start to tell me she only needed to give me a number to call when I asked for her full business address so I could first verify their business license and application for their business license.

..The line went dead.

 Just adding this for future reference and hoping to find several list where I can put their phone number and get them to quickly quit calling me as it seems thru my research that they keep harrassing people for months as no one can nail them down.

I have received calls from this number numerous times. The call is to my cell phone which is on the no call list. When I attempt to answer they hang up. I have never actually spoke to anybody as others have. It is a nuisance.

This number called my mother, sister and myself asking for me so they can serve legal papers. When I ask who they were they say they are national locator corporation and then they hung up. It is really ridiculous that these people can continue to harass people...these numbers need to be shut down.

The individual asked me if anyone was going to be home to accept legal papers that need to be served to an individual.  This is getting ridiculous because I don't know this person and they stated that this person left this number to contact them.  Can I file a complaint against whoever is calling them??

Received a call asking for another person that I know stating that they wanted me to accept legal documents for said person. When I stated that I wouldn't accept or receive it they hung up immediately. They also called the person named and another person friends with them.

I just received call from same number saying they had some legal documents and I needed to call this other number. Then asked if it was me and I said yes but then started asking him questions when he hung up. Only if he got was that it was me on phone but I'm assuming I scared him off. I was just concerned if a verbal yes over phone could be used for anything.
