I called them back using skype.  I was connected to some woman who game me her first name.  I told her that I was getting calls from them all the time. She asked for the phone number I was getting the calls at.  I told them the real number they had been calling.  They asked me if I was James Hawkins.  Told them "no".  The woman told me that she would remove it from their system, and it would take 24 hours for the number to drop from their system.  And she actually apologize for any inconvenience.  Had I been the person they were really trying to contact, it looks like an easy fix to me.  Of course, time will tell if she was just blowing smoke, and I continue to receive calls.  But hopefully this puts an end to it.

Well - it is October.  Time for my work cellphone (I.T. Support for Hilton) to get the annual debt collector calls for Kimberly Johnson.  This started in 2008, resurfaced in 2009, and here we are again in 2010.  Someone in our department has been carrying this phone number for over 5 years -- and we never employed anyone by the name of Kimberly Johnson.

Have gotten these calls for a few months.  I too don't answer unless I know the caller.
It looks like many folks have filed complaints.  How long does it take the FTC to investigate?

I was getting calls from another company some time ago and demanded a letter.  They sent the demand letter and I sent a debt dispute letter back.  The calls stopped.  I demanded a letter from these yoyos but I don't expect them to comply.  I called them at their number and when they located "my account" on their computers so I disputed the claim by phone but I also sent them a debt dispute letter using my phone number.  We'll see if this helps.  If you want to try it the address I used is:

Roger the Boom IS correct!  They ARE breaking the law by faking false Caller ID phone numbers.  I AM reporting them to the Attorney General AND FTC.  Please do the same & maybe we can shut down these scummy collectors that break the law!

I just called the number back & got "Erin Eden" (or so she said).  She said they are in Nevada & when I said they are breaking the law by faking false Caller ID phone numbers,  she said they are not breaking the law.  I said I'm reporting them to the NV AND TX AG's & the FTC- have fun paying the fines...

Note- they are calling on OLD debts that have been off the credit report for years!  Do NOT pay them a penny on old debts past your state's statute of limitations or it goes BACK onto your credit report for another 7 years!

    no one special
No idea who they are, but they are the dumbest people ever.  They called me, with a recording saying "for this message to be in english press 1".  So I pressed 1, and waited as it connected me to their rep.  The person who picked up the phone rattles off some company name that I wasn't paying attention to, and asked if she can help me as if I called her.  I POLITELY told her that her company robo dialed my number and I am just trying to find out why.  So she promptly hung up without saying another word.
