- SOMEONEI RECEIVED A CALL FROM THIS # STATING THAT THERE WAS A CIVIL COMPLAINT FILED. THE WOMAN OFFICER BUCANNON (SP) STATED THAT WE HAD A DEBT FROM OVER 10 YEARS AGO GOING TO COURT. THEY DID HAVE PERSONAL INFO. WRONG ADDRESS THOUGH. SHE COULDN'T EXPLAIN TO ME WHY THIS WASN'T SHOWING ON ANY OF OUR CREDIT REPORTS IF IT'S A COLLECTION. SHE GAVE ME THE TOTAL WE OWED WHICH WAS OVER $3000 BUT THERE'S AN ATEMPT TO SETTLE OUT OF COURT IN THE AMOUNT OF $1000. WE ARE GOING TO TAKE THE CHANCE AND GO TO COURT IF WE HAVE TO BECAUSE WE KNOW THIS ISN'T OUR DEBT, LET THEM WASTE THEIR MONEY :-). I HAVE ALSO NOTIFIED A FAMILY MEMBER WHO IS A LOCAL DETECTIVE AND WILL LOOK FURTHER INTO THIS CALL. I FEEL WE ARE A VICTIM OF FRAUD, THE CHARGE THAT THE SO CALLED ATTORNEY "ROBERT GOLDSTEIN" (WOMAN WOULDN'T GIVE ME HIS #)IS CLAIMING ISN'T OURS.
AS TO THE PREVIOUS STATEMENTS ABOVE MINE...THE WOMAN REALLY DIDN'T HAVE TOO MUCH INFO ABOUT THE COMPLAINT AND WHAT EXACTLY I WAS GETTING SUED FOR.. SHE WAS "FISHING". SHE CLAIMED THAT SHE IS HIRED BY THE ATTORNEY TO FIND OUT INFO. IT'S KIND OF FUNNY HOW ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS ARE FROM THE PAST COUPLE DAYS. MAYBE THIS IS A NEW TYPE OF SCAM GOING AROUND. TRYING TO THREATEN PEOPLE WITH COURT IN THE HOPES THAT THEY WILL SETTLE. I'M GOING TO CONTACT THE LOCAL NEWS STATIONS AND THEY CAN START THEIR OWN "INVESTIGATION" INTO THESE PEOPLE. IF THIS IS A SCAM THEY MESSED WITH THE WRONG LAW ENFORCEMENT FAMILY. - tickedntx| 1 replyI just received a call today saying the same thing about a civil complaint filed. I have no clue what it is about. If anyone knows how to deal with this I would love some advice!!!
- 216-393-0456| 1 replyI had a terrible day today due to the call from 216-393-0456 saying something about getting a criminal warrant for arrest. Like so many posts here, they have the WRONG PERSON!!! I called my local police department and an officer came to my home to listen to the message. He said the message did not violate any crminal laws but he recommened that I file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I encourage all of you to do the same. So far I am the first person who has ever complained about the company at BBB. You can logon to www.bbb.org and search for the Firm "Robert Goldstein & Associates". They are based in 6100 Oaktree Blvd., Independence, OH 44131.
The officer also mentioned that I may want to call back and tell them that they have the wrong person. I called and tried to explained that I am not the person they are looking for. The conversation became heated and a string of profanities came from the "receptionist". I tried calling back and asked to leave a voice mail for Robert Goldstein, but the receptionist blurted another string of profanities before hanging up on me and threatened legal action if I ever called back. Funny isn't it. At least I gave them a dose of their own medicine; repeated unwanted phone calls.
If you are frustrated like me. Contact BBB and complaint. Those folks need to learn to do their homework before randomly fishing for names.- Caller: Robert Goldstein & Associates

- BBB complaintI forgot to mention in my earlier post that the company is so new that BBB does not have an official link for complaint. You can just send an email to the OHio BBB office and
summarize your issue with Robert Goldstein & Associates. People united, we will prevail!!!
Send email to info@Cleveland.BBB.org

- Another piece of infoI should also let you know another thing the officer told me. He told me that the collection agency can't just go off and get a criminal arrest warrant. They need to first establish the case in a civil court. A judge will not sign an arrest warrant that easily.
I am going to contact the Ohio Bar as well as the State's attorney general's office to monitor closely those idiots' business practice.- Caller: Robert Goldstein & Associates

- madcalled by 216-373-1461 lead investigator and told to call 216-393-0456. Nicol Morgan said I was being charged with a class E felony for failure to pay a c.c. I never owned. I contacted the c.c. company and there is no record of me or of litigation with Robert Goldstein. Robert Goldstein is too new with the Ohio BBB to have complaints on file, but the company NAAIB with the same address and phone number has numerous complaints that they have not responded to.

- SupedveHey these guys are busy now. I just got a call re: a civil case vs. me (I told them I was someone else, expecting it to be a scam). The person who called me "Jason McKay", says he's an Investigator with International Asset locators (i.e. Collection Company). I brushed him off and will await a future contact again. I have a very common name and wonder if that is part of the scam to, to get you to open the file and then you are hooked.

- brookei received a phone call from the same number two days ago--they had the wrong number but the person they wanted to speak with does live in my building...what to do?
- ayawnaI just got off the phone with them and they had some of the correct information. They called looking for my husband that has a very popular name. Some of his information she had was right but when I asked her his social she did not have that right. The town she was saying this charge was from we have not lived there in over 10 years and the company she is claiming she is calling on behalf of we claimed them in a bankruptcy. Also it never showed on our credit report. We just bought a house a year ago...so where was this. Think I am going to contact my local police and do a reverse phone number check. All beware!!! Do not give them any information!!! Fish for what they have!!!
- ayawnaI just got off the phone with (Providian) which is now WAMU because they are the company that has the account this company was saying they where representing. They said they show no accounts under my husband name. You guys please be careful giving this company your info. Like I said I gave them nothing and fished for what they new. And it is funny that they said my hubbys social started with 216 the same as there area code.

- TorWe are a company. Monday morning (today) my receptionist forwards a voicemail message from a Special Investigator Rob Young who wants us or our attorney to call 216 393-0496 about a civil complaint against our company.
I have dealt with these calls before and we have legal backgrounds here, so we were angry and ready to fight, rather than scared of a lawsuit. We know that a true complaint in a court of law requires notification of both parties. Should notice be deficient, that is grounds for a challenge at any time.
In addiiton to notice, we have also spoken with law enforcement on many occasions and none of them mumble their words, hide their name or otherwise leave a voicemail message that was very difficult to understand. Right away, we are thinking fraud, since that is so prevalent these days and I do not know of one acquaintance who has not had to deal with it in one form or another.
I try to call the number and the number is not in service. I try twice just in case.
I try the reverse white pages but the number is assigned to Focal Communications of Ohio, which I assume is a telephone company. 216 393 turns out to be Independence, Ohio.
So I begin to research the area code and prefix, knowing that most of the time criminals use something that is familiar, sometimes even a location. Sure enough, 216 393 is a gold mine. And all connected to Robert Goldstein & Associates.
I call their main number and speak with Investigator Henry Drake, who confirms that Rob Young is one of their investigators. However he says he has problems pulling up the file. Eventually, he states a name, which is not ours. He states an address, part of which is not ours, since this is a multi-unit location and he got the wrong unit. He stated the 1st 3 digits of a social security number, which is not ours. He says he will not call our number anymore because it is probably mistaken identity.
I asked for his name, confirmed his company and asked about the company. They are an assiset investigation bureau, which may or may not be accurate. It's possible they are legitimate and are just following leads. Though there is no excuse for being rude, no matter how angry the caller is. I found both him and the voicemail caller to be quite difficult to understand. I had to have him repeat himself a couple times and two of us listened to the voicemail over and over and we were stil not confident we got all the information correct.
Though Mr. Drake was polite, I am keeping a record of the incident as well as posting here because this could still have been a phishing expedition. One person thinks they are looking for the elderly and if you do not sound elderly, they are very quick to get you off the phone.
Unfortunately this means that for people to protect themselves, they have to be vigilant about their rights, such as service, notice, hearings and what to do about judgments, as well understanding how investigators really work. The first thing to remember is that you have rights and never let anyone take them away from you.
Should someone claim to be from law enforcement, always try to call them independent of the number they give to you until their identity is confirmed. Perhaps I am paranoid, but I also speak with whoever is at the station or department, because the truth is I personally do not know the real detective, so I need someone at the station to confirm that for me. I also do not know whether it is a real investigation (call me vigilant of human nature), so I like to confirm they are the right people for the investigation, etc. Though once I know someone, I tend to use them to confirm any other people or issues later, and go with their referrals.- Caller: Robert Goldstein & Associates

- MarissaEveryone, some tips as I was called by someone yesterday who asked me to call this number -- which I never did and haven't heard from them since:
1) Never give your SS# over the phone. The last four digits are all anyone should ever ask for and that's ONLY if it's regarding an existing account from a valid source.
2) Do not give any personal information to anyone who is ASKING you for information regarding something they can't even discuss with you -- if this is regarding a credit card or cable bill, regarding a case, etc., this information will again be readily available and there will be no need to ask you questions (and phone numbers will show up on caller ID). Also, if someone is looking for you there are legal steps that need to be followed and documentation to back it up.
3) When someone asks "Am I speaking with so-and-so"...ask who you are speaking with before answering. If it doesn't feel or sound legitimate, it's not. Go with your gut.
4) Hang up. And please watch out for your elderly parents and friends -- this number smells scam. If someone is asking you to call a number without providing valid reasons why and it's a number that you never asked for, DO NOT CALL. Also, because so many of us have been called, it is worth sharing this site with your local law inforcement and describing your experience.
In such an instance where so many of us have been called and asked to call this number, 216-393-0456, it might be worth considering a call to the FBI who have special units to handle such issues, especially if you have already fallen victim and been asked to pay and/or have paid money for invalid reasons. This must be absolutely horrifying for anyone who is unsure of how to handle such calls and could fall victim to a terrible scam.
Please use common sense and do not allow this type of call to scare you. Hang up.- Caller: This is a scam
- MarissaOn a side note, it is worth mentioning that the July 17 and 18 comments look like they were posted by someone working for this number. Both use the exact spelling and format for the name "GLOBAL ASSET AND REVENUE IVESTIGATIVE"....both are typos. The proper spelling is "investigative" and the comments are too similar in making it sound like someone really was sued, etc.
Utterly ridiculous and shameful. - betteI had a call from these people at 8.30pm on 8-9-07. The caller Nick told me there was a warrant for my arrest and the sheriff would be there if I did not respond within 48 hrs. That I was being arrested for credit card fraud. I called the number back on 8-14-07 and asked for a company name, they did not want to tell me. They did tell me I owed 10,280. dollars but if I could pay something to-day they could drop it to 585.00 dollars and make it payable over 4 months, I had to give them my account info. right now or they could not do that deal. I told them I would get back to them.
I had googled them, when I asked to speak to R Goldstein they said he was an attorney and was in court I pressed a little more and they said he was an attorney who did work for them. I did have a bad debt, I paid back what I could but ran out of money. My wife had died and the hospital expenses were huge there went the house, car and money.I told them I am 74 now and have some health problems and prison did not seem like a bad option, He did not know how to respond to that. Is this a scam?- Caller: did not give a name
