Hey...I've also seen this number appear on my husbands billing...incoming text number..for some reason it seems to me that it's mostly men getting this number showing up on there phone...we also have tmobile and same  billing invoice, so how come I don't see it coming up on my number? something seems very weird here!!!

Hubby has this azzhat friend who likes to send him pics of chicks with d!x. They show up on our usage as 222-222-2211 MAURITANIA.

i have checked my husbands phone bill and not only see this number come up but other numbers i dont know either. i typed the number in and it says its from a meez.com chat room type of place. usually he tells me about unknown numbers but has not said a thing about this one. my husband is a truck driver, so....

Have you tried logging in to your t-mobile account and turned OFF the website something,When i had T-mobile, i realized if you turned it OFF, you wouldn't receive any of these nonsense stuff...... just a thought.

they are doing it on a 12yr old and a 9yrold  tmobile phone also   told tmobile this must stop now

Received 20 or so text messages on my current bill cycle from this number. (causes my limit to go over).

I do not know this international number, nor any international number.
Infact, while the number showed up on my bill many times, it never came through to my phone as a phone call or text message. I'm glad I checked my bill I would have not know!!!

Anyhow, I called TMobile for support was offered this wonderful advice.

1.) There is no way to block a single phone number from calling or texting. You will have to pay for these intruder texts.

After nicely suggesting to the phone support guy that this answer was kind of a lazy one, and it didn't seem right to continue letting someone hack their phones and system, I then got these two answers.

2.) You can however choose to disable text messages all together. Meaning that you can not receive ANY messages, not even from family. (I guess that's a remedy????  But it seems more like a punishment).

3.) Lastly, you can choose to change your phone number.

So, Basically if I would like this intruder number to stop charging their texts to my phone, while continuing my text service, I must change my phone number.

Nevermind you I've a TMobile customer for 6 years.


Well, I've come up with my own alternative. CANCEL Tmobile.  I can handle poor customer service on some things. But when it comes to protecting my money, information and security - NOT acceptable.

I hate to mess with your theory. But it's not true.
I had not texted anyone today, and yet I received this number as incoming on my bill 8 times back to back.

BUT the actual text message never come through to my phone. It only appeared on my bill. YES causing me overages.

This number is also associated with the international location:    Mauritania

So, while you say it's not a scam - it sure feels like it if unwanted charges and numbers are showing up on my bill.

Oh AND just to add  to "Smart Consumer"  

Then I was charged twice.  1 x for the alleged picture message from a friend
                                   and  1x  for TMobiles way of reporting data coming through

So, that is two charges for one message - STILL sounds like a scam.

But, let me remind you, that the 8 charges from 222-222-2211    Mauritania on my phone were not followed by or proceeed by ANY text messages.

Just talked to a rep at tmobile. What this number is, is a response from a short code. What that means is if you ever text to something like dancing with the stars to cast a vote or idol to cast your vote it transfers through the system the wrong way and shows up as Mauritania. If you have unlimited text it doesnt cost anything and if you dont then it charges you 20 cents. All you have to do is respond to the text STOP and you will see this number go away. Its not spam its not porn people. Ladies if you cant trust your man then why are you with him? Im a woman so I know we tend to have a jealous streak in us but come on. Also this is not a chat room response from 222-222-2211. Just ignore it or block it by sending STOP.

This same number came on my phone when I was driving thru New Mexico and Arizona.  It didn't happen again when I got back to Texas.  My husband and son just drove thru NM and Arizona and now they are getting the number on their texts.  I have tmobile as well.

I saw this on my fiancee's part of the bill and we have T-Mobile... i had sent him several ring tones from my phone as attachments. it matches up to the times i sent them and the number of txt messages i sent him... so it may be a data number that tmobile uses to show one customer sending a media message to another user! i was worried at first, but then i looked at the times the messages were sent and i knew!

It is an adult sex site - it's all over my bill and all these texts are on my husbands line - sometimes it pays to have the cell phone bill in your own name :) that way you can see what's going on! I wouldn't have even looked at the bill if I hadn't just seen some pics on his phone that came in a text message!

that's cause the messages are going to someone's phone - yours or your honey's - as text messages, no doubt with pics - just like they come to my husbands phone! its an adult sex site!

Yep! Adult sex site - they text pics of naked and half clothed women to the phones. It comes up on the bill as MAURITANIA with the number 222-222-2221. If you have an unlimited text messaging plan no worries there will not be extra charges, but if you have limited - watch out

I also have T-mobile.  6 charges showed up on my bill from this number within 2 minutes.  T-mobile told me the same thing, that I needed to pay more to get all texts blocked.  This is ridiculous.  T-mobile should have technology to stop these type of numbers from coming thru.  The rep. talked about 'text bombing' where someone from a number like this(untracable/probably thru a computer) sends hundreds even thousands at a time.  T-mobile does nothing, but expect us to pay.  I expect better service!

Called tmobile again.  Spoke to a manager.  You can have them block all 'short codes'.  This is suppose to stop numbers like this from coming thru.  If you see several texts begin to come thru like this, she said you can reply with STOP and it should stop the calls and take your number off their list.
