- Kafkaesque replies to BethUnfortunately Beth when it comes to Scammers using spoofed ( fake ) Caller ID's it doesn't matter which state you're in . And regardless ... the DoNotCall list is a national entity ... not a state .. and is inundated with complaints .. so again it doesn't matter worth a hoot . Scammers will always prevail.
FYI ; According to AARP the FBI etc it is estimated that 80-90% of all phone calls both cell and landline will be spoofed CID scammers by 2021 .. and nobody at the government level be it federal or state is doing a goram thing about it including the DoNotCall registry . So get used to it . The scams are just winding up - Kafkaesque| 1 replyThe best defense in fact the ONLY defense against this current phalanx of scams ranging from political - to medical - to charitable - to bank/creditcard etc - et al - ad nauseam is ..
Do Not answer unless its a CID you recognize ... and more importantly ... NEVER call any number back unless a legitimate message is left by a recognizable person or entity
As seen in the above comments blacking most of these scams is a waste of time and effort .. Why ? Because when you block one spoofed CID they simply create another .
And no one including the FBI can help with spoofed CID calls- Caller: Scam !

- Crosshairs replies to KafkaesqueI agree with most of what you said, but a good call blocker is also in order to avoid the majority of calls from scammers. I have over 350 area codes blocked, including (221) Muskegon, MI. Meaning...every phone number in those area codes, real or fake, is blocked. They still call, and I can see they called, but they don't make my phone ring. The only scammers who get through to ring my phone are from made up area codes/numbers and calls from my local area code, each of which can be easily blocked with a push of the big red button on my call blocker.
Currently I have 494 total numbers blocked, including the 350 area codes. My machine will allow me to block 1500 total, including area codes, area codes with prefixes, and individual numbers. During an average week I get 2 or 3 scammers that can slip through, but it's rare that anyone can make my phone ring except for friends, family, or people I do business with. - MaggieCaller ID showed the call is from Muskegon, MI. Caller stated she was with Pharmacy, calling about my back pain medication. They've called multiple times, I block the number and they call back from a different number and it's identical each time. When I state I'm on the Do Not Call list, each telemarketer has replied, "You are a liar, you not on the Do Not Call List." They then become quite nasty, even threatening me (lol) and I hang up. Before I can block the number, they call back--seconds apart, continually. I received three calls from this number this afternoon, seconds apart. Finally got to block the call. I do have friends in Muskegon...that's the only reason I answered in the first place.

- JerryV1953 replies to SueI got the same thing this afternoon. They mentioned Medicare, so they may be phishing for Medicare numbers. As I was asking to be removed from their call list, she hung up on me.
- Annoyed Wireless UserI have an auto block feature on my phone and once a week I get 6 blocks in a row from this caller. Sometimes 10. That mea s this is a robocaller/computer that tries to dial a number repeatedly till it makes a connection. I highly recommend not answering as some of these calls these days can actually "infiltrate" your phone. If you don't have an anti-virus. Get one.

Wanted my husband and asked if I was authorized to speak for hiim and I said yes and that I was not interested. - C.I received a call from this # - man said he was looking for C. (specific name) and was from "the pharmacy". I asked which pharmacy at which point he became verbally aggressive, wouldn't answer and again asked for C. (specific name) and demanded to know if I was that person. I asked again which pharmacy - not identifying anyone. He then hung up. Caller ID said this is a Michigan call.
