- ID was same as phone#No message left. If it they are from Edward Jones, then I expect the ID would show that name - not a number.
Plus I would not participate in a survey, give out any personal, especially financial / bank related information to some unknown person on the other end. No matter who or what they claim to be. Fake Verizon reps have been pulling this nonsense around here for months.- Caller: -
- DavidNo message left, looked at call display...scammers!!
- Madelyn ThompsonReceived two calls but my phone was on mute. They should stop phoning me.
- Walker| 1 replyThese hooligans spammed the wrong person. I have been doing business with Edward Jones for many years. As soon as I saw the ID on the call, I phoned my contact with the company, and asked if he or his secretary had been the one who made the call. He knew nothing about it. I cross-checked the call with White Pages, which turned up a carrier named "Lucre" for a landline in Fremont, Michigan. White pages said, "Moderate spam activity suspected."
Now I have posted a report about this spam phone call for the record here at 800notes.com as well, and am on my way to post a report with the FCC. About the word "lucre". There is an old phrase you will find in detective stories called "filthy lucre". That means "wealth obtained by unethical means". Could this be an attack against Edward Jones the investment company itself?- Caller: Edward Jones

- Filthy Rich, I mean RickI was given a heads-up by my Edward Jones office a couple of weeks ago that I may be getting a call from J.D. Powers. However, when the call came yesterday, I didn't recognize the number because I didn't have it in my cell phone address book, so I didn't answer it. Walker's contact with her Edward Jones office needs to be more informed of what's going on in his business and let his customers know they may be getting a call like mine did!!

- nogreentractor replies to concernedFirst off I have No ties to Lucre Inc. before tonight I had never heard of them!
I wish to point out that part of your info is correct and part is incorrect, area code;231 prefix;224 All LAST 4 digit numbers is owned by "Lucre Inc"
from my research I believe Lucre is a company like Verizon, Century Tel, Frontier, the call did Not come from them, it came from one of their customers, just like a call you make comes from you Not your phone provider.
It also appears that several of the complaints on BBB against Lucre should be against their customers not them.
Quotes from them: "Lucre is a telephone company. Lucre does not telemarket, however, we have customers who do" {http://www.bbb.org/western-michigan/business- ... 3369/complaints}
"Lucre, Inc. is a Competitive Local Exchange Carrier, serving West Michigan since 1998. Our network was developed from the ground up to provide a broad range of products, solutions, and cutting edge technologies."{http://www.lucre.net/index.php}

- nogreentractor replies to Unauthorized Edward Jones AgentI believe you have got it wrong. it is a well known survey company "J.D. Powers" doing a customer satisfaction survey for "Edward Jones"
It is not a scam. - nogreentractor replies to Walkerit is JDPowers {http://www.jdpower.com/} doing a survey about customer satisfaction for Edward Jones.It is Not spam or a scam it is about how good or bad your local office is treating you/your account.
Your local office is Not responsible for this, their Bosses are making sure they are doing their job in your opinion!
First off I have No ties to Lucre Inc. before tonight I had never heard of them! However I am a customer of Edward Jones
Area code;231 prefix;224 All LAST 4 digit numbers is owned by "Lucre Inc"
from my research I have determined Lucre is a company like Verizon, Century Tel, Frontier, the call did Not come from them, it came from one of their customers, just like a call you make comes from you Not your phone provider.

- db who's Fed Up w/ Being Fed UP! (c)We are clients of Edward Jones.
Have received 2-3 calls from this no. with the CID indicating Edward Jones. Obviously not one of our EJ reps numbers as it isn't from the correct Area Code.
Called it back and got a robo response that was comprehensive and polite indicating they were preforming a customer satisfaction survey on behalf of EJ, that it was NOT a sales call and stated if one had any questions regarding the survey [ e.g. is it a legit call ] they should call their EJ rep or go to EJ's web site for more information. They did not provide the name of the survey company. While I have not answered when they've called, and they don't provide a means to respond to the survey when you call them, I can't say for sure if they require any critical account information that could compromise ones security, but other than to ask if you were in fact an EJ client I doubt they do. IF THEY DO, they should be reported immediately to your EJ rep, or EJ corporate, and get that crap nixed. It is noted in other responses to this thread, some local reps were not aware of this survey and had no answer, which is a screw up with EJ's internal communications but doesn't surprise me as it's a low priority issue.
Hence, UNLESS YOU'VE GOTTEN A *SPOOFED* VERSION OF THIS NUMBER AND YOU ANSWER WHEN THEY CALLED [ OR in the highly unlikely event they can somehow divert / forward a returned call to that number to Nigeria or wherever to some untraceable phone ] it is a legit call IF you have, or have had, a relationship with EJ based on the Fed's DNC criteria. [ See refs to this in numerous related 800Notes threads regarding DNC rules and regs ]
Next time I speak with our EJ rep I will probably request that they have our number removed from their survey list and IF they can't do that I will definitely express my displeasure with their CS and if they can't take care of something that simple I'll have to reconsider my confidence in their ability to handle our financial affairs. Now that I know what the deal is, If they call again I may answer just to see what information they solicit to see if any of it is inappropriate and act accordingly.
And as always, there's the oft chance of any number of inadvertent screw ups, such as your number has mistakenly gotten on the survey's data list, their, or the phone 'system' equipment malfunctioned and misdirected the call [ it has happened folks believe it or not ], your number USED TO BELONG to an EJ client, etc.
In any case, just answering their call WITHOUT providing any information can't hurt you with the possible exception of confirming your number is a 'live' number, which I'd suggest 'they' know anyway, and if you don't wish to have them calling in the future I'm guessing 90% of ya'll have a means to block it.
NOTE: I am NOT defending nor condoning ANY co. that makes unsolicited calls for such purposes, merely presenting the facts in this case based on personal knowledge and belief. I would note that a lot of companies, be they financial, retail, service, etc. either via phone or online are soliciting feedback from their clients on their CS. Personally, in the past few years, as opposed to 'back in the day', I've gotten amazing results from most company's CS folks in all areas of commerce and am more than happy to take a few minutes to give positive feedback for a CSR who's gone over and above the normal BS to help resolve an issue in my favor, even in cases where they really had no obligation to do so; e.g. I screwed up and they let me off the hook in the name of advancing good customer relations. I figure if they're 'doing the right thing' it's a good idea to encourage them to continue. OTOH if they're screwing you over and you have a chance to let them know you're not happy, that can't hurt either.
One last thing, admittedly OT but FWIW for those who might give a rat's [***]: Edward Jones is one of, if not the ONLY, CLOSELY HELD brokerage / financial advisory firm in the country. It's my personal experience from dealing with closely held firms, and having worked for what WAS 'back in the day' the largest closely held engineering firm in the world, that 9 outta 10 times they provide better CS, products, services, have happier productive employees, etc. than any publicly held company could hope to. E.g. SAS, Consumer Cellular, Phone Power, etc. As a disclaimer I have NO financial interest in, official affiliation with, receive any bennies from, nor anything to gain from any of the aforementioned companies. And YES, if one looks one will find complaints against these and other good companies as everyone, no matter how well intentioned, makes mistakes and any fool knows that the ratio of folks who take the time to post bad experiences vs positive ones are A HUNDRED TO ONE.
The above includes FACTS, and some OPINION. A child of ten with a normal IQ should be astute enough to know the difference, so further explanations to certain trolls will be resisted to the best of my ability [ no guarantees ]... ';)
