The caller identifies himself as Dr. Gary (google search says he is a medical doctor) He calls our office always on off business hours asking the doctor at our practice to call him and leave his personal cell phone to discuss a case he wants to refer to us. He states he does not want to work with his office staff (red flag).  After his third message I left him a message and told him that is not how we run our practice and if he has a legit referral he is welcome to call the office and follow our protocol, if he is not interested then best of luck to you.
Call is a Florida number and we are in Colorado. I believe this to be some sort of scam!

We had the exact same experience as Shannon on 4/4/22.  Dr. Gary left a message asking that our doctor call him back on his cell phone because he is referring a patient to our practice that he would like to discuss with the dr. first.  He claims, if he doesn't answer- to leave a message with the doctor's personal cell phone to discuss the case.  It's a Florida phone # and we are in Wisconsin.

Same situation as Heidi. We did not leave a personal cell number and said the office number is the best way to reach us. He left message saying he needed to discuss the person’s case. We are in Iowa and he is in Florida. Also thinking it might be a scam as the number looks similar to another Dr. Gary that’s listed when we Google searched the number.

Exact same message... "Good morning doctor, this is Dr. Gary. I have a patient to refer that lives over close to your uh facility. You'll call me back on my direct number (239) 259-7399. I'd like to discuss their case with you not your assistant or receptionist. Um, if you don't get me, leave your cell phone, I'll call you back as soon soon as  I can. Thank you".

Same exact message as all previous messages stated. We did not call the number.

Same experience as all above, we are in Maryland.

Illinois. Sounded super legit but I was suspicious as soon as I saw the Florida area code. I did what the first person did, and called back to let "Dr. Gary" know that if he has a real referral he can call the office and go through admin protocol.

Today, 1/10/2023, there was a voice message from "Dr. Gary". He had called after hours.  We are in Scottsdale, AZ.
What kind of doctor identifies themselves that way, with just last name, and no information on who exactly he is.  He left a similar message about wanting to refer patients to this office.
I (this doctor's office manager) tried calling him back, although "red flags" were dancing in my mind.  Of course, there was no answer, and I left a message. I would NEVER leave our doctor's personal cell number.  I told him to call the office to discuss his reason for calling. However, the entire thing seemed like a scam to me.  I went to this website, and discovered that many others are hearing from this same person.  What in the world is he trying to scam off on us?  I will be blocking his number, so we don't have to go through multiple BS calls from this guy. Just what we need right now in this country... yet another scammer hitting our offices!

This Dr.Gary, Called our clinic as well ..wished I had already looked up the number before Doc called his number back. We are in Arkansas. SCAM!!

I have had Dr. Gary call me a few times. Most recently this morning (1/17/23). I'm also in Wisconsin and he asked for the doctor (he assumes is male) to call him back and leave their personal cell number. I'll be blocking the number from any future calls.

Same, I'm in Oklahoma. 1/17/2023 I think I've even had this message before.  The world nowadays, I enter the phone number first on google to see what pops up! Sad, we have to question the validity these days! When it sounds like a scam... it tends to BE a scam!

There was an automated message left on our clinic phone system from this number asking to call back on personal phone.  Sounded suspicious and looks like Im not the first one.

Called my office wanting to refer patients to my office but only could talk to me.

Dr Gary called, left the "Good morning doctor, this is Dr. Gary. I have a patient to refer that lives over close to your uh facility. You'll call me back on my direct number (239) 259-7399. Thank you". message, but it was during hours and we aren't even a Dr's office! Since I answered the phone it was obvious this is prerecorded, there's never a real person asking since there was 0 response to my interjections. Very fake.

Get the same messages. I finally blocked him.

This is a second time this person calls with caller ID of Marco Island
Says he has 14 patients he would like to refer and left the number to call back on which everyone listed.  I think the first time he said he would refer for a fee.  So years later I get the same call from this Dr. Gary.
