Sunday night 6:54pm  received hangup call in PA

Calls every day and sometimes more than once a day.  There is never anyone on the line.  When I call back the phone is constantly busy.  I don't know what the scam is but if this call is coming from Florida I'm asking the Attorney General of Florida to take some action against these people.  Call comes from 1-239-599-3004.

Sure wish the Attorney General of Florida would take some action against this entity.  In my opinion it is absolutly harassment.  It's hard to believe that some entity is putting this much energy, time, and probably money into this operation without some reason to do so.

Caller ID said "Avalon".     I answered, no one said a word. Try to call the number, and just bet beep beep beep (not a busy signal.......more like circuits busy.)

File an online complaint with the FCC. Also: After weeks of dead calls, someone from "Avalon" finally talked to me, claiming to be collecting money for homeless vets. Great cause, if legit, but after all this harrassment, I wouldn't give them a penny!

Been getting calls from this number once or twice a day; NO ONE talks.  Annoying!!!!  I've asked they not call my number any more, but calls keep comin

This is ridiculous! I get calls from this number 5 or 6 this a day and nobody answers th ephone when you pick it up! this has been going on for weeks! No company should be allowed to get away with this crap!

Started receiving calls from Fort Myers FL a couple weeks ago from this number. I am in central PA. They don't leave a message. They called yesterday on Memorial Day. Tried to pick it up this time but the answering machine came on at the same time and they hung up. I will try to pick it up next time and see if they actually answer.

I live in Saltville, VA and keep getting calls from Avalon. They call at all hours, day and night.

I live in Saltville, VA, and I just got another call from Avalon at this number. When I answered, no reply, and a hang up. This is B.S. the states and federal folks know the number, there are laws on the books to arrest these folks. The phone company should terminate their phone service. Why is nothing being done? The problem lies with our police officials, because Avalon or whoever will continue this as long as they are allowed to. Just another example of over paid shoddy police work!

I'm not an attorney, but there seems like there should be a way to file a class action law suit against whoever pays the phone bill for this particular number. They can change the company name and they can change the scam, but somebody is paying the phone bill, by check, credit card, debit card, company account, somehow. Since this appears to be multi-state, the FBI should be looking into it.

Multiple calls. No answer just hangs up after 3-5 seconds.

I receive calls from this number all the time.  The latest was just a few minutes ago.  I have a habit of not answering my phone unless I recognize the number.  I am also on the DDC list.  I kept telling my husband that they just dial numbers and hope they get someone, now I am not so sure, since they call all the time.

I forgot to mention that I am in Texas

I have had this number call my house several times.  A few times I picked up & noone said anything.
I tried to call back today & it would not go through.  How do I stop this number from calling my home?

We constantly (everyday) get calls from 239-599-3004 and the name that comes up on Caller ID is Avalon. This is annoying everyday.

same thing - dozens of recent call, never anybody there.  hangs up after 2 or 3 rings.  Must be robocalling multiple numbers...

Okay, I used to manage a loathed Telemarketing firm so here's the deal.  They very well could be calling from one of the 2,000 Disabled Vets programs, majority of which are actually 501(c)3 NOT-FOR-PROFIT organizations.  However, these organizations actually take an upfront amount from companies (such as Avalon) for, we'll say $100,000.00.  The company then runs a marketing program via telemarketing, if the company (Avalon) brings in $200,000.00 in donations they keep that profit, the average "take" for the actual organization is around 10-15%.  You also need to be careful because some companies, The Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association for example (A.K.A. PCPA) is ran by a retired officer who belongs to the, "PCPA," however, the call center, employees and all materials used to make calls are owned by Civic Development Group (A.K.A. CDG, another company like Avalon).  Since CDG and Avalon run in the background so-to-speak, and have an actual contractual agreement with these Not-For-Profits it is quite legal.  However, all in all it's a royal scam that gives true Not-For-Profits a bad name, and I recommend only donating to organizations you choose, NEVER let someone on the phone talk you into a donation.  Yes, people do donate to these all the time.  On average a program like this generates $150 an hour over 20 callers.  To put it into perspective, that's all 20 people getting $150.00 an hour in actual donations VIA credit cards numbers, debit card numbers, and mailed in Checks and money orders.

Now for some legal insite.  They can legally call you even if you're on the Government Do Not Call List.  The list leaves exemptions for Non-Profits as well as companies that you currently do business with (If you bank with Chase they can still try and sell you account protection, as an example)   Luckily most companies that you deal with don't want to Pi$$ you off, so as soon as you mention a DNC list (Do Not Call) they'll gladly hang up, as will some of the more credible marketing companies.  

If you tell a representative that you're on the list and they DO NOT automatically apologize and offer to place you on their DNC list (yes, individual companies, as well as the FED Gov keep their own DNC lists) then you have a valid reason to call or write your congressman, neighbors chihuahua, Aunt Bertha and anyone else you care to tell, but until they refuse to take you off the list, call before 8am or after 9pm, use profanity against you, threaten you, or actually steal your pet hamster, there's no much the government can do for now.

Trust me, I wish all these companies would be shut down and marked with a giant "A" not for adultery my Scarlet Letter fans, but for being, uhh, "Gluteus Maximus evacuation routes" Gotta keep it PG and all.  But the fact remains that as long as companies are willing to shell out millions, and in some cases, billions a year to have a bunch of under educated, under paid, and often drug addicted telemarketing companies, you'll keep getting calls in some way shape or form.  And don't change your phone number, your number is on the DNC list (Federal or Otherwise) not your name.  So change your name if you want to mess with the telemarketers, not your number.

I know this is long and drawn out but honestly I haven't even brushed on all of it, just the very minimum of the very basics.  Good rule of thumb,  if you didn't contact them (no matter what the person calling you says) don't give out ANY personal information, not even your pet hamsters name.  ALWAYS SAY YOUR NUMBER is on the DO NOT CALL LIST!  If they argue, hang up, those calls are actually recorded, and if the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) finds out someone didn't put your number on the DNC list after you told them too they will be fined!

(FINE PRINT* It can, and most often will, take 2 months to have your number removed from the companies database, you may still get calls for 2 months, but the government gave them that loophole)
