    Now I'm pissed...
okay....so i get  a call (on my cell phone) from 252-216-8098 today 5/12/15 approx 2:15 p.m., unknown "Washington" number, leaves a VM informing me a lawsuit filed against me from the IRS. Immediately google the number and find this website - ah what a relief, just a scam.

Then, about 5 minutes later get a call from EGYPT!! +20 2 6846724....same lady in recording....slightly broken up, stating, "They have been trying to reach me, this is my last warning" before the lawsuit gets filed. I wish I would have answered it, but wasn't sure what my international plan is on my cell phone....I would have read them the riot act. I dare them, call me and interrupt me again!! Now you got me irritated....and you won't like me when I'm angry! (incredible hulk reference).

Total scam.  Originates in either India or Pakistan.  Ignore the calls and block the numbers .
    See:  http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Reiterate ... -Telephone-Scam

    Report them:
    http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam_ok.shtml

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

Sadly, these people pick on women, single mothers, the elderly and members of the immigrant community. I'm 73 and I get these calls once in a while.  But of course I let fly with both barrels when they call me.  I get them cussing in Hindi!

This operation is based overseas and that makes it impossible for our agencies to conduct an investigation.

In all the years I have been registered with the DNCR, I have yet to receive a call from a legitimate company that I have never done business with. So it works for me.

Alarming message left on our machine stating this is the final warning that the IRS is filing suit against us and this was the return number left. Thankfully, we know the IRS completes it correspondence in writing.
Hope they catch these folks before too many people are scammed.

    Irritated
I received this same call and was immediately suspicious.  First checked the area code and found it to be in Tacoma, WA.  Then checked entire number and read these postings.  I'm not easily satisfied and filed a compliant via e-mail with the IRS and another with the Attorney General's  tax complaint fill-in-blocks form.

Also got this fake IRS call from 253-216-8098.  This number is ported to Level3 Communications.  If anyone has any connections with Level3, can you please find out who owns this phone number and post to help prosecute these people?

They left a phone message in US English. A woman.
The IRS is not suing me.
    They LOVE ME.
After what I paid in taxes lat April, they are sending roses.

    What an absurd call.

We need a technical solution to these VOIP issues, and fast.  Either that or we need a few freighters to drag their anchors over the Pacific Rim cables.

Call left on my answering machine saying IRS was filing a lawsuit against me, and to call 253-216-8098 for more information.  HOW COULD ANYONE FALL FOR THIS SCAM?  Talked to AT&T to report this, and they advised me to google the number.  I did and found all these persons that had received some type of call from this number.  I did not call the number back for more information.  Hope they catch these thieves and put them in jail.

Received this call from this number stating that they are the IRS and that they have a lawsuit about to be file against me. They say that this is the last attempt before they file but when did the first one, two, and three calls come in? It didn't. I got nervous b/c I thought I did something wrong on my taxes and that I had to pay alot of money or be jailed. Don't play with people's hearts. We have enough problems in this world as it is and we don't need some stupid scammers adding to the list of problems.

Just got the fake IRS message in 812 area code (Southern Indiana) five minutes ago.  Left a message on the answering machine.  Really a joke as the IRS would be calling me from someplace other than Washington state.  Won't be surprised if they eventually call my FAX machine which is further down the number list.  I am sure it won't be impressed, either, altho it will probably shriek at them a bit.

Thanks for everyone posting about 253-216-8098. I received a partial recorded message on my voicemail saying that I should call them back regarding my case file. It's a relief to know that it is not real.

Received the call this morning at 8:43 stating the IRS is filing suite against me. Was a auto generated voice no background sounds at all.  Have no problems with the IRS.  Not the first time been targeted on phone scams.
