I am on the Do Not Call list - why am I still getting these calls from this number?!

The DNC list does not automatically block calls.  Instead, it provides a list of  "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.

The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations,  charities and companies with preexisting business relationships, but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).

The DNC list  is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
Its purpose is to stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that.

Remember, the Do Not Call site is a good one to report unwanted calls from LEGITIMATE telemarketers.  The DNC list does not cover calls from criminal scammers & spammers.  To report those, visit https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

If you receive calls even after reporting them (and waiting a sufficient time), then you should consider using a call blocker app, device or service as your first line of defense.  Google "call blocker" to see such things at Amazon or other sites.

Solar Panels Call.. Grr.. Got to love the telemarketing.

just got a call.. tey left no answer.  BLOCK!

Recorded message offering opportunity to lower my energy costs. "This is not a sales call." Did not identify who they are or how they could lower my costs. SCAM!

Just got the call; did not answer per my policy not to answer phone numbers I DO NOT recognize.  No message left.  Planning to BLOCK if I get another call from these illegal telemarketers.  Telephone terrorists!

No one talks at the other end.  They don't talk first if you just pick up and listen.

Got a call from a young woman.  My husband who is interested in solar panels kept talking to her in spite of the fact that I told him repeatedly that it was a scam.  He even gave her my home address so she could send more information.  He is almost deaf and could not make out what she was saying, but stubbornly insisted on talking to her.

His phone is now unplugged, and I hope nothing comes of this.  I called back and got, "This phone has been disconnected or is out of service.

Called 8/26/14 1:36 PM PDT,  Caller ID shows "Unknown Name" and this number.  Called blocked by Sentry robo call blocker.

crooks use another spoofed number trying to fool people. this number is also blocked.

Fight back!  Call them in the middle of the night when you take a pee.  With most of these numbers you will
receive the same message, "Please press any digit to be removed from this list.  This may take 24-48 hours.
Thank you."  Wait till the message ends, let the buzzing sound stop, then there will be quiet, part of the
answering machine tape.  Ultimately, someone hangs up.  If many people disturb their sleep, maybe,
they will catch on.

Received several calls from this number back in June. They left me alone in July and most of August but now have started calling me again. Twice in the last 2 hours. (I keep a spreadsheet with these numbers and CID info as well as when they called and when I added them or removed them from my phones block list. My phone is only able to block 30 numbers so I keep track in this manner to easily know which number I can remove in order to add a new number to the block list.) CID says MARYLAND CALL. Even though they are on my phone's block list, the call rings 1 time and shows up in my caller ID so I do know when they call. If they are a solar panel company, I don't get why they would be trying to do business on the opposite side of the country so that makes me feel even more that they're probably scammers up to no good...

3 rings, no message.  I blocked my caller ID, and called it back.  It is a disconnected number, so it is spoofed, probably a scammer/telemarketer...

Called our house about 30 minutes ago.  Robovoice talking about reducing energy costs...  Will not answer calls from this number again and I am definitely going to purchase a call blocking device.

I'd love to fight back - - except when you call the number it says it cannot be completed as dialed.  The only way to "fight back" is to block their calls....which is like a dog chasing its' tail.  You block the offending number and they just move on to another spoofed number as their caller ID so you are constantly updating your "caller blocked" list.  The other alternative would be buying a call blocking device, which I am budgeting to purchase next month!  Thanks for the suggestion though.
