Eric Foster left a message on my machine today @ 8:18am.  Going to put a red flag on my social security number for life if I don't call him back the very second I get his serious message. The same message everyone else got.  Agree with bo, the IRS would send a letter if I I owed them anything.

I received 3 calls from the same Eric Foster within a 1 hour time period stating that he was from the IRS and I would face criminal action and be arrested if I did not call him back. He is clearly from the middle east and has no idea how the IRS works here. They will always send you a certified letter if they have a problem with you. This is definantly a SCAM and an attempt to scare older people or people that don't know any better into sending them money. The best thing to do is not answer the call and tell your friends about it.

Phone call from 301-812-4171 - "States that you are informed that a very serious lawsuit is filed against you; (is very time sensitive) and you must return phone call to Eric Foster of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Internal Revenue Service immediately.  If you do not call back your  Social Security Number will be under state investigation and will be flagged forever.  This is your last chance to resolve this serious legal matter.
Got 4 calls: Sep 10, 2014 8:34, 9:21, 9:27, and 10:44 am all with the same message word for word (recording?). I did not answer the calls.     Bogus to be sure.  IRS would not phone, but would send letter.
Further, IRS would have you name and not just refer to "YOU".
Voice seems to me to be of India or Pakistani accent.

I called back this number and for some reason they were trying to get a hold of my Bf on my number and I told them they had the wrong number but asked what this was all about, he then said "well if this is the wrong number why do you care," I said well you are calling my number so I would like to know. He then told me to shut up three times.

A caller identifying himself as Eric from the Criminal Investigation Bureau (Asian-sounding accent so they couldn't even get an American to do the calling). Has called 3 times today and I just hang up on them. Want it stopped NOW>

Accounting firm in TN.  One of our clients received multiple calls and voicemails following the script previous commenters have already described.  Luckily, he called us before returning the scammer's call.

As previously stated, IRS will never contact you by phone or email without first establishing contact with you via mail.  IRS will not ask for credit or debit card numbers over the phone, will not demand payment, will not threaten to involve any type of law enforcement, and will always give you the opportunity to appeal.

If you know you owe taxes or think you might, call the IRS directly at 800.829.1040 - you'll be able to work out your payment options there.

If you're sure it's a scam (and calls like these definitely qualify), report the call to the Treasury Inspector General at www.tigta.gov or 800.366.4484.

You should also file a complaint with the FTC Complaint Assistant at the link below.  Choose "Other" and then "Impostor Scams" and be sure to include the words "IRS telephone scam" in the notes.

    https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/Information?OrgCode=IRS#crnt&panel1-1

Be sure to report these scams via the above means - IRS has made a concerted effort to crack down hard on these types of scams.  Enough reports of a similar incident will get their attention in a big way.

A person stating he was Eric Foster with the IRS called my home phone telling me I owed the IRS.  I told him I did not that I was 93 years old and owed them nothing.  He called 5 times.  The first time he called, before he hung up, he told me he was coming to my house the next day and bring $ 5,000 and would I   XXXX  XXX  XXXX.  I slammed the phone down.  My daughter is now trying to have the call traced.

Received a message today, from 301 812 4172 to call or contact a lawyer, this is the second time I received this type of call, the previous is coming from 201 area code, I did call the 301 812 4172 to find out who the caller is, the person with heavy accent  answered audit, I did ask what is the name of the company and hung up. I did redial the number, several ring  and never answer, I did call back 10 minutes later again the same person answered audit, again the same question I've asked, what company and again hung up. I posted this call to warn the public about this scam.
