They call constantly.  I haven't answered b/c I didn't recognize the number.  I don't intend to answer but wish they'd stop the harrassment.  Now that I know it is a collection agency, I believe they are trying to get me to pay a debt from when my ex-spouse claimed bankrupt after we were divorced.  They seem to think I'm responsible for those debts not paid due to his bankruptcy.  I've been divorced since 1990!

This is sick I want to get the local news involved and stick it to them.
This is strong harassment.  There needs to be an investigation. Last year
the same month started getting these calls, they have the wrong person.

These people have sent me a letter and called me numerous times on my home phone. The letter is trying to collect for money my husband owed Wells Fargo. He never owed Wells Fargo anything and he is deceased. This should not be allowed to continue. I have been crying and just devastated with their actions. Please somebody, find a way to stop this type of place causing additional grief to people. What do they do, check the obituaries or just use random numbers in phone books?

Our house also out of the blue is having the same problem has yours. Only I called them ( wife) they would not talk to me. I ran my husband's credit
reports he is okay. We have nothing. I called our lawyers who handle our case for us. A few years back they cannot see anything either. They do have the wrong person. Good for you!!!  You can do some research on these scum buckets on BudHibbs.com  They got a wage garnishment judgement on me from a judge I suspect was "bought and paid for."  They are mad as hell and have been calling my ex wife because I make less than the amount they can garnish.

They are looking for Muhommad what ever. Wolpoff and Abramson,use to call, now we get these clowns . No Muhommud ever lived here or anything. I tried both # and they were busy,all day. I want them to stop.
I even told a lady that he never lived here etc and she said she would take our number off.

He meant that sending a certified letter costs "a couple of dollars". He wasn't suggesting sending cash to the debt collector.  (Actually, I think mailing a letter via certified letter with a return receipt request costs $5 or so. Check with you local post office branch or go to www.usps.gov for details.)

Here's a little background to help answer your question. Because of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), you are under no obligation to ever communicate with a debt collector. Accordingly, if you are being contacted by a debt collector, you can inform the debt collector to cease all communication with you. The best way to do this is by mailing them a letter informing them that they are to "cease all communication" with you. If they contact you more than once after receiving your letter, then they are in violation of the FDCPA and you have grounds to sue them for damages in federal court. Just be sure to mail the letter via certified mail with a return receipt request; your local post office clerk can help you with that. (It's no big deal.)  Be sure to keep a copy of the letter that you send the debt collector and to keep the return receipt that the post office mails to you after the debt collector receives your letter. The receipt proves that the debt collector received your letter, and comes in handy should the debt collector ignore your letter and you choose to sue.

This FDCPA rules apply to every state because it's a federal law.

Someone from this number keeps calling my house at dinner time. I won't answer the call and they don't leave a message. I want it to stop. I know it's not for me because, one, I owe no money and two my credit score is 780.

We have been receiving calls for another individual that does not live here and never has lived here.  I tried calling the number back to tell them that they have the wrong number for this person but we continue to receive these calls.

Me too!! after my debt was paid off in 2002! Now they want a pretrial meeting.  They have continued to harrass me several times since the debt was paid.
