Trying to get my company to use them for debt collections.  Rude as hell.  He asks a question, I answer, and he argues about my answer.  I will never use them for anything.

One call very early in the morning. No one was in the line. No idea who could be.

Received several calls from Brian Stewart.  He is looking to collect for a phone bill for a company that I worked at and left months before the company was closed.  I let him know that the parent company is still in business but he didn't care.  He was rude and tries to get money from anyone he can with scare tactics.  This company is scum and Brian may find himself in court if he keeps up his tactics.

One call, no message, when I returned the call, the phone linked to a computer saying it was the offices of James, Stevens, and Daniels.  The call went through to the system operator, who was "unavailable."  Combined with the other messages here seems fishy.

They are calling my house looking for the neighbor they want me to go leave a note on his door WTF Am I supposed to do their detective work for them This should be against the law I have a listed number an he doesn't so they call me this is not right!!! So they looked up his address an then the neighbors beside him to see who has a listed number an want me to go put this number on their door oh my god this is stupid!!!!

This turkey called me last month wanting me to use them for debt collections. I told him no thank you and he argued with me about until I finally had to hang up on him. He just called me AGAIN. I would never, ever use this agency and personally believe they are a scam.

That is because you are clueless ...JSD is a Certified Member of the Commercial Law League and they have such client's as Xerox and Dex... you would not know a scam if it hit you in the head...

This guy wanted to know about our company. When I asked him his name & company name right off the bat and wouldn't give me an answer. He refused to give me a message for my boss & was not interested in knowing what our website address was so he could read up on us. I hung up after he was so rude! Of course the creep had to continually call back over & over without me answering. How can people live like this?

James, Stevens, and Daniels makes repeated calls for an old bill with a wildly inflated price, and won't take 100% of the old bill balance.  Instead they are willing to do me a favor and settle for about 150% of the balance owed.

You obviously work for this company to defend them in such a way

These guy's have always wanted to be lawyers...But are to inept to make it! So all they could ever do is act like one over the phone. It's a shame that people can do this in this manner. Apparently, these guys are hired simply because the amounts in question are too small for an attorney to persue.

Being a member of a league? My son is a member of a football league....Grow up. Just try real hard to become someone your parents could be proud of.....just try.

Nasty, rude man calling to speak with my employer, who was unavailable. All he would tell me was that is was regarding a balance overdue and when i told him that i had passed along the message he had left last week he became even nastier and asked me if he should even expect a return call. since the call is not for me and i cannot control what my employer does-i told him i don't know but that i have done My job and passed along his original message. Nasty ass who called himself Mr. Andrews...

I get the call from this number, the guy was very rude, He is asking for a debt,, I asked him what is his phone number and  job company, he drive me to walk around garden, keep saying that I owe someone's money, and looking for my boss.What The Foolish guy.

Our company received a call from a person named Eric Moore from James, Stevens and Daniels.  He acted like he had been trying to get a hold of me and was grateful I answered then he went into a dialogue of how he had dinner with his mom the night before & she made him a roast chicken dinner with all the fixins (who cares) and said he was a fat boy and would be the hardest working man ever if someone put a twinke on his desk every morning.....So then he finally gets to what he really wants which is to do collections for our company and when I told him that everything is done inhouse, he got pissed and asked me how the lawyers got to court if they had to stay in the house.  I told him I didn't need his services and hung up on him.  He called back to complain about me (said he had a recordong of our conversation) and that person hung up on him and then he called back again and again he was hung up on.  He called back a 1/2 hour later to speak to the vice president of our company about how unprofessional myself and the other people were and when I told him that I was the person he spoke with earlier he told me he recorded our conversation and I told him he was a liar because that was against the law.  Our traffic manager spoke with him and told him that he stepped over the line of professionalism when he spoke about personal stuff to me.  The guy was a jerk and I hope his company reads these blogs.

Just want to thank everyone here. I handle the collections for my company and receive dozens of calls from collection agencies wanting to do business. Received a call from this number and figured it was an agency. I didn't answer and no message was left. Glad I didn't waste my time speaking with a sleazy company. Based on the comments here some of the actions would be considered illegal. If they told the neighbor they were trying to collect a debt, that's definately a violation.

They called again at 12:15 P.M. and didn't leave a message.

I guess they think it will make me want to do business with them if they interrupt my lunch.

Next time they call I better pick up and tell them to go away.

I assure you they don't have Xerox....

I Spoke With One Of These Yesterday, He Was Ruid, Won't Really Let Me Speak Didn't Bother To Inform Me That He Was Attempting TO Collect A Debit, Then Proceeded To Inform Me If I Didn't Pay Him That Day He Was Going To HavE Arrested And Then Have To Pay The Court Fees, His Legal Fees, Then When I Tried To Talk He Argued With Me, Told Me That I Have A Drug Problem, Then He Started To Talk About My Why My Family Doesn't Talk To Me And Said I Blame Everyone But Myself For All My Problems. If The Guys Actually Thknks I Have A Drug Problem, He Needs To Come Here And Proof, Besides The Fact That I Just Passed A Hair Drug Screen For The DOT Physical And Passed It. They Are Beyond Unprofessional, They Cross The Line Bringing Up Person Matters That Don't Involve Them And Now After Reading All Of This, I Think I'm Going To Call A Lawyer And Find Out Exactly What Gives Them A Right And Because They're A Bill Collector, Isn't Illegal For Them To Call A Say That They're A Detective?

These folks contacted us a while ago to offer us a debt recovery option, since we did not want to spend the money on litigation, plus the fact that the person we were going after didn't have anything to his name.  We gracefully declined their offer.  Luck would have it, several months later, my business partner was actually contacted by the same group, but this time it was for a debt collection against my partner- small world!  

Here are my 2 cents (and I might have been an attorney in the past):  I have to agree with someone above who said that these people wish they were "real lawyers".  Honestly, at times I think that actual lawyers, like litigation, transactional and patent lawyers for example, aren't even the most ethical people, but at least they aren't necessarily compensated on what they collect- they are compensated on their time, since their time is worth something. These folks are literally only DEBT COLLECTORS who act like lawyers, even though many of them (if any) aren't lawyers. I would assume that they may have one or some people in their office with JDs; but by how these people act through the examples above, and our personal experiences, it seems like they either failed out of law school, always wanted to go to law school or actually made it through law school, but couldn't pass the bar or get a job (but that is me being the glass-full kind of person). They use tactics to manipulate you to think that they are indeed acting on behalf of a company with direct orders from them, but in reality the most threatening comments or "evidence" they try to present to you is actually all public knowledge and can be accessed with a little tool called Google. They have access to court filings, records (for a small fee) and other info to use against you and scare you into thinking that they actually have something on you.  Since they may have been around a courtroom in the past (maybe as a Defendant?) they know key words like "Discovery" and other lawyer buzz words. I also wouldn't be surprised if they have a real litigation attorney come in and give trainings on how to sound more "Lawyerly".  Anyway, these people are nothing more than debt collectors, or maybe Contingency Attorneys, if they are actually licensed to practice and want to risk the uncertainty of debt collection, since Contingency Attorneys are usually used in slam-dunk cases, like Personal Injury, Catastrophic Events like plane crashes, or neglect leading to injury or death.  Even then, nothing is ever for sure, so I would have to assume that these folks are literally working for nothing unless they collect from the debtor. From what I know, they are very persistent but try to use a calming tone, unlike the notorious "debt collector".  As my partner experienced, as part of their initial negotiation, they throw whatever they can at you to see what sticks, then when they have nothing, they threaten you.  They are indeed Fishermen- let's see what we can catch today.  Like I mentioned above, much of the detail they present or try to threaten you with, is published on the internet.  You may need to dig a little, but anyone can find anything about someone if they really wanted to.  For example, we happen to know everything about the Debt Collector who contacted my partner- like what the person looks like, their business and collecting tactics and maybe even what their favorite movie is.  We're just saying.
