Received call from some foreigner clamping to be from IRS, called back and told him he was trying to scam me then he hung up.

Officer Jonathan Knight, Badge #06719, from the "Federal Investigation Department of IRS."

States "After audit, there is a fraud and misconduct on your tax, which you are hiding from

the federal government. The matter at the hand is extremely time sensitive and urgent and it

need to be rectified as soon as you receive the message." Then he repeats, "Again, this is

Officer Jonathan Knight of the IRS."

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service and the Treasury Inspector General for Tax

Administration continue to hear from taxpayers who have received unsolicited calls from

individuals demanding payment while fraudulently claiming to be from the IRS.

Based on the 90,000 complaints that TIGTA has received through its telephone hotline, to

date, TIGTA has identified approximately 1,100 victims who have lost an estimated $5 million

from these scams.  

"There are clear warning signs about these scams, which continue at high levels throughout

the nation,” said IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. “Taxpayers should remember their first

contact with the IRS will not be a call from out of the blue, but through official

correspondence sent through the mail. A big red flag for these scams are angry, threatening

calls from people who say they are from the IRS and urging immediate payment. This is not how

we operate. People should hang up immediately and contact TIGTA or the IRS.”

Additionally, it is important for taxpayers to know that the IRS:

   Never asks for credit card, debit card or prepaid card information over the telephone.
   Never insists that taxpayers use a specific payment method to pay tax obligations
   Never requests immediate payment over the telephone and will not take enforcement action

immediately following a phone conversation. Taxpayers usually receive prior notification of

IRS enforcement action involving IRS tax liens or levies.

Received same call from someone sounding East Indian the last time I took like that my computer was hacked into and cost me 110.00 to fIx the company was called aspire from southern cal.

Ha!  I did the same thing.  Blocked my #, it rang about 15 times also, & then went dead.

Called Sabu back and told him I was from the Criminal Investigative Division of India, and would be sending a swat team to his office to shut him down.

Just seen my father he says an IRS investigator called and said he was issuing an arrest warrant because I didn't pay taxes, I said [***] He said it was some Indian that couldn't speak English then I was about 99% sure it was a scam and I see  I was right.

I remember Sabu.  Indian child actor of the 1940s.  Real name was Selar Shaik Sabu.  Died of a heart attack in 1963.

I called back and got an answer from someone claiming to be Jonathan Knight and he told me he knew nothing about the IRS and his offices were closed on 3:00PM on a Friday afternoon. after i told him i was sending his phone number to the police department he answered another phone and i heard him saying the exact same thing to someone else that he said on my Voicemail. what a joke.

This has got to stop hey government we all send you info on this can you investigate and let the country know whats being done? This guy drives us crazy calling at least 2-3 times per month including my wifes cell.

3029669241 SCAM SCAM SCAM !  Caller had Indian accent and referred to IRS.....it's all SCAM !  

This man's name was Frank Jones and told  me i owe  the IRS 5 thousand,  Call was listed Millsboro, DE  or at least that is what came up on my caller id.

Received same message from Johnath Knight.  I knew it had to be a scam, he did not leave a call back number as I know it would had been a toll free number. This is sad because there are people out there that would fall for this.

Same here.  I laughed because he gave himself an ENGLISH name knowing darn well he is calling from some foreign place.  He was so dumb he never even left his phone number on the message.  wow.  NOT SO SMART SCAMMERS.. HAHAHAH

I started receiving theses calls last year. Threatened to bring me to court, suspend passport, stop U S Mail. Low and behold this year the calls started again. Last year my husband have them a line of b.s. They said we owed $ 6,587.00; they said the mistake was on earned income credit claimed. What idiots, we didn't claim that. Really, get a real job, loser.

I received a call from a different number:  (571)  210-5561 , however the content of the call was the exact same.  "Jonathan Knight of the Federal Investigation Department of the IRS, badge number 06719", a title that is immediately suspect, since, the IRS is the IRS and Federal Investigation is the FBI.  And any accusations of misconduct I would suppose would only come from an IRS attorney in a court of law, and would suppose an IRS representative looking to shore up accounts would have the wisdom to simply say "there seems to be a discrepancy on your account, we need to talk about it."  I'm glad I typed into google what these idiots had to say.  For one, they didn't name me by name, and for two, they didn't even leave a call-back number.  Talk about amateur night, but it still had me wondering what could be the issue and saying "Who cares? They can't take away my birthday."  haha

When I called the number identified as the one the call came from, it goes straight to a disconnection sound: "BEEP BOOP BEEP, the number you have dialed has been disconnected."

Bunch of crooks; they're idiots to think a life of fooling others is worth the time just for a fast buck.
