- Dan replies to ekhaleel| 1 replyAn unlisted number is NOT automatically on the Do-Not-Call lists. You have to register a number to get it on the DNC list. Unlisted numbers means simply and only that the phone company will not (supposedly) publish your number in the phone book, and this is a contractual point between you and your phone company. There is no Federal law against calling an unlisted number. Most states also do not prohibit this. All the above pertains to land-lines. Cell phones are another matter. It's against the law to call cell phones for sales purposes without prior express written consent to receive sales calls from that entity, whether the phone is listed on the DNC or not, whether the phone is unpublished/unlisted or not.
- Dan replies to Nrs.susieQThe bottom line is that these sales text messages are all illegal. Federal law requires the texting party to have your prior express, unambiguous, written permission to send text messages or sales calls to your mobile device. The permission can be given with a mouse click per the Federal E-SIGN Act, but it has to be very clear, concise, obvious permission that gives a SPECIFIC company permission to call you about sales offers. Generic "3rd party opt-ins" are not legal for making sales calls or sending sales text messages to cell phones. It is true that lots of websites say "trusted 3rd parties may call you" but in fact that is NOT legal permission... even IF you click "yes" they are STILL violating Federal and state laws. The FTC and the Federal courts have already determined that sales calls, robocalls, and text messages are for all intents and purposes equivalent in terms of permission... they are all sales calls to a mobile device for which you have to pay the air time, whether it's charged in minutes or in an unlimited plan.

- KitaI got the same message from the same number and decided to look the number up. I had a feeling it was a scam. I'm glad I looked the number up I now know for sure that it is truly a SCAM. Why won't these people get a real job instead off trying to get money from hard working individuals.

How can they call when I put my cell on the Do Not Call List and I did not sign up for anything? Can I file a complaint on the dnc reg. - Badge714 replies to loriCriminals do not follow the rule of law. Why would they obey the 'Do not call list'? If you have received a phone call, text, or fax from an illegal telemarketer you can be 100% positive it's a scam.

- Brandon| 1 replyhow do they get access To our numbers in the first place
- John replies to BrandonTo ''get access" to our numbers, the only thing the "free cruise" scammers , and others need, is a robodialer, which dials numbers in a sequential order, until someone answers, and becomes their next potential victim.
- KellyI got a text today also stating that I won a free trip to the bahamas. Didnt call but I did not authorize anyone to send me a message via text
- ReubenThese guys just sent me the same text, I figured it was a scam but to prove it I called them, and jacked them up with obvious questions that they should have answered but could not. I told them they were full of crap. I hate these people.

- John in MichiganALERT ALL THE NAIEVE PEOPLE YOU KNOW. What a bunch of losers these guys are, to try and steal credit card numbers. I feel sorry for people that may be oblivious to this. Is there some avenue to alert the authorities (FBI, etc) to these guys? Is there an FBI tip line somewhere so these guys can be caught. The FBI should be able to triangulate a cell ph number and locate them.
