Just got a a call from this ;number. I usually do not answer calls from unknown callers.  but was outside and could not see the caller id. They called ;me by my last name and said they were calling ;from ;the depl. of revenue. o about the  $20, 000. I owed.  I told them I did not  owe money to anyone and refused to give them my social security number or inf. and hung up.

They said they had talked to me on ;my cell phone which is a lie because I do not use my cell phone or answer it except for family members.  Also the cell phone is ;not in my name.   Why would a law office in Ill be calling  someone in Kansas.

That number has called my land phone two or three times but I  usually do not answer unknown callers.

It has to be some kind of scam.

I have had the same issue, this place called saying I owe state taxes, not even sure it was mine.  Tried to call it back and is automated VM don't work.  I just ignore it now!!!!!!!!!

Called my number looking for a Mr Brown.   I'm in NY, my name is not Mr Brown and I've never driven a car in Chicago.   Please don't call me again!

They state that they are looking for my brother, whom I have not seen or talked to in 1 year.

I been dealing with Kansas Back Tax Issue which I got a letter from State Ks saying I owe 9kplus but this PC Harris Collectors keep saying I owe 31k and I sent them the copy of state of Ks letter but they say they show a fax but do not know what it says and that it does not matter I still owe 31k.

I do not mind paying a debt the problem is I am trying to get them to understand I cannot start payments until we agree on amount.

This number calls me all the time, then leaves a pre-recorded message for some unintelligible name that obviously isn't anyone in this household, saying that they have been trying to contact unintelligible name and that unintelligible name should call them back. If they would just have an actual person call I could tell them this is a wrong number, but I refuse to have to call them back and am sick of them calling me every day. GRRRR!

They call my number every other week or so asking for Julia. I keep telling them this isn't her number but they still call. Now I just sing to them until they hang up.

We have a very common name and we keep getting robo-calls on a daily basis from the law office of Arnold Scott Harris.  Well, we may have a common name but WE HAVE NO DEBT.  Tired of getting calls for somebody else and so I I decided enough is enough and filed a compliant with BBB in Chicago.  I hope it goes away now!

You get a real person?  We only get robo-calls.  I finally filed a complaint with Chicago BBB and I will let you know how I fare!  Love the singing!!

I do not know these people or attorney group.  Have never visited the Chicago area.  They call at least 4 to 5 times a week even on Saturday sometimes.  It is always an automated call stating that this is a call from the law offices of Arnold Harris and they are debt collectors.  They tell me to call this number.  I ignore these calls and wish they would quit.  I will not call them back it is a farce.  I live no where around the Chicago area 600 miles away.

Bottom line is this, even though they are attorneys, they are required to follow the FDCPA in collection matters.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

They called again this morning (we are day sleepers) and I searched until I found the above contact information & called them AT THEIR COST.
They said they are looking for someone we have never heard of - Monica Walker.
As I told their employee, this has been our telephone number for over a decade & we have never heard of her.  I also told them that if they call here again I WILL file a formal harassment complaint with my state's Attorney General's office against Harris & Harris, LTD.

Believe me, I will follow through!

This is the word for word message on my phone.

"We are debt collectors. Please call us at 312-604-7173. Our office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM Central Standard Time. Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Standard Time and Saturday 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM Central Standard Time. Thank you."

They do not state whom they are calling, or what company they are with. Not gonna call them back. just blocked the number now as it is 2 or 3 calls a day while I am at work

They told me they were collecting for the State of Kansas Department of Revenue.  They claimed they had attempted to contact me "multiple times" and it was now an urgent matter.  I have nothing from them prior to the phone call - though the amount they tell me is close to what I owe the state of Kansas.  I told her to send me documentation as is required - that was two weeks ago and I have received nothing.

If this is regarding taxes, the FDCPA does not apply.  I can't tell from what is required or whether they use collection agencies by looking at that state website.

Keep calling and ask for a call back to Mr. Scott bogus

I finally answered the phone and asked what they wanted.  She claims I owe money and I said.."no problem, send me documentation".  She said they wrote a letter to me in April....I have nothing.  I repeated my request for documentation.  She again said it wasn't required.  Sounds to me that Mr. Scott needs to learn some things about the law.

my issue is I asked them for documentation and they refuse to provide anything.  They told me I have to go to the company website (who they are "working for") to see they are approved.  that was NOT my question.....send me supporting documents.  they refused yet continue to all.
