they are doing the same to me except today i got a "garnishment" document for 75% of my paycheck. i'm really scared....did you get any updates?

i got a generic letter with a website to pay taxes owed to kansas dept of revenue but i have never owed taxes. ive always had a refund plus i don't work or live in kansas. i attempted to call them many times but they never answered. i finally wrote them a letter and they didn't respond. i did get 1 call from them & the guy kept changing what year I owed taxes for and wouldn't send me documents. he started getting mad at me for asking so many questions. he wanted me to set up auto pay with him. he couldn't give me the contact info or notice # for the KS DOR so that i could look it up myself. now today i got documents that look like court papers saying they are going to garnish my paychecks for 75%. i filed a report with FTC but I'm worried that if they really garnish my checks, i won't ever get that money back.

Such person called me in Missouri claiming to be dept of Kansas tax revenue stating I should call them.  Now why would the state of Kansas get a hold of someone in Chicago to have them call and tell me I owe them money. I live in Missouri nice try people. Find a better scam

It has been a while since I went to Geography class, but the last time I went Chicago was in the State of Illinois and not Missouri.

I even checked to see if there was a town in Missouri named it and I got nothing.

Aliens! They moved Roswell from New Mexico to Georgia so they musta moved Chicago to Missouri, too.

Don't worry about it. They are telling people different stories about why they're calling. Because of the economy crisis, it is bringing all the scammers and tricksters out of the woodwork. There story for me was that we have an issue with the government. I told him if we did, the government would contact us via mail. And they would. They're just doing whatever they can try, to get money.

They're scamming. he told me he was calling about a government issues. I told him if we had an issue with the government, the government would contact us via mail. I asked him who he was calling and he said arnold 'something'. I told him that is not our name and to take our number off their call list. he agreed to.

If you don't think you would owe any taxes, don't worry about it. If you file every year, then they would have let you know then if you were owing anything. This is a scam.

I have getting calls from them about Ks taxes as well. Ummm I have never lived in Kansas.

I have had this call a couple of times, and it happened again today. A man asks for Jennifer. My name is not Jennifer. I tell the guy “I’m sorry. You have the wrong number.” I hang up. Sheesh.

This is a the legit collection agency for the State of Kansas, call the State 1st verify the amount, then they will have you call them and make payment.  If you did not get notice or a phone call from the state, may be because you moved years ago, they do not send notices by the address on your income tax, you have to update your address when them, it apparently is a check box on the paperwork when filing or they send it to your old address, I moved almost 10 years ago and they sent mail to it.

They won't state who they're calling because THEY have to have all the correct info or the debt isn't valid. That's why when you do talk to them they wanna "verify" your name, address and what not.

This number is a SCAM. Called me for IRS past taxes due demanding I pay them now or they will garnish my wages. Paid over $1200 and just got a certified letter from the IRS that I owe them money still. Don't pay these people a penny. Hang up the phone immediately.

You paid this debt collector $1200 with checking to see if they could legally collect tax debt for the IRS?  Without making them follow the law?
