It's not a scammer or a blind sales call. It's one of the health-care providers arranged through your employer. They have legitimate reasons to call patients. It's something you already pay for through your insurance.

I received this call and there was no message so I googled and found this. Then I realized they were calling about my request for employee assistance. They called back within 5 minutes and I answered. I think they do not leave messages because these matters are confidential. I don't think they are allowed to leave messages. There is no need to report them, simply answer the phone and ask what they are calling about.

Also received phone call from above number MHS, dead air when I answered.

This is a mental health insurance carrier so they arent going to say " this message is for the crazy person who lives here"  Its a real company with valid reasons for calling.   They probably need information to

I also received a call from this number and they are National Imaging Associates. They call to let me know that my preauthorization for an MRI was approved. They are merely giving you a courtesy call to let you know what is going on with your medical preauth requests.....sheesh lol Have a nice day!

Jiminy friggin cricket Chuck, make sure you have your information correct before you go throwing out BS answers.  Yes the 314-387-4000 number is their call center number, however, if you pay attention to the message they leave you will hear they give you a different #(usually an 800) to call back depending on what medical reason they are calling for, i.e. 800-642-7820 goes to National Imaging Associates who approve or deny preauth requests for MRI's or CT's. It works similar to an answering service(call center) for multiple doctors. The preauth is approved/denied by different facilities depending on what it is for so one # may be MRI's/CT's and a different number may be for a preauth for Speech/Hearing tests.

They are not a call center for hire, what part of they are a health care company do you fail to understand?

They are NOT National Imaging Associates, they handle CLAIMS for National Imaging Associates you morons, they are a health care company, get a life and stop bitching.....

I see from the voice mail log that they called this morning at 8:14 AM. That is way too early for an unsolicited call from an unidentified caller, no matter how legit - or not - they may be.

They left a robo message that was not audible in the beginning, so I do not know who they claim to be, but then they went on to assert they are contracted by my health insurance carrier, and to call back at another number, and to be sure to supply them with personal information like date of birth and insurance ID when I do, before they will tell me why they are pestering me.... I am not willing to supply any unsolicited caller from an unfamiliar number with personal information.

This may be well-intentioned, but it is unacceptable. I am scheduled for an imaging procedure tomorrow. If the authorization is in place, then that's fine, don't bother me about it. And if it is not, then let my local provider call me with the news that the procedure has to be cancelled for lack of authorization.

I have been receiving these calls in NY prior to 9am quite often. The number shows up Unavailable but they ask me to call National Imaging associates back at 800-642-7820. I called back today, I spoke to a rep after giving my birth date and Name but refusing to give my health id #. She told me that whatever they were calling about I would also get a letter in the mail. They work with different insurance providers, Independent Health
, Blue Cross Blue Shield etc...

Magellan Health Services also provides the InTransition program for service members/veterans transitioning out of service (probably for all branches, but I was USAF).  They provide social work type services to make sure you receive continuation of care.  I believe this service is primarily for those with mental health concerns or adjustment concerns.  NOT UNSOLICITED

Magellan Health Services owns National Imaging Associates, ICORE (pharmacy benefits management) and a few other subsidiaries. Health insurance companies hire them for radiology pre-certification, (MRI, CAT scans, etc) Mental health management, pharmacy benefits, and many other specialty items. The reason they call so early in the morning is to catch people at home to speak to them about coordinating their pre-cert or other health related issues.  They also can't leave a message because it will violate federal Heath information privacy laws. Often they just leave a message to return the call to a specific 1-800 number. They ask for personal info such as name date of birth and member I'd to prove you are who you are and thus not divulge and personnel health information which would cause them to be fines thousands of dollars (HIPPA complaince).

If you have had any recent doctors or mental health visits, they maybe calling too coordinate your healthcare. RETURN THIER CALL!!

This is definitely a legit company, National Imagining Associates. We called them back and they let us know my husband was approved for an MRI. So yes, call them back, it's all good. They really should change their message, but they probably can't say much because of medical confidentiality.
