K, it may be because your phone number once belonged to someone who owes a debt.  I have been having constant calls myself that started since a message was left for me.  I need to call that number back and tell them "nobody here by that name"  and  "I am on the do not call list"

After this they will leave you alone

ALSO, if anybody ever asks what your name is, tell them:  "I don't give that info out over the phone"

Also, don't give out your age.

    ANNOYED
Have received multiple calls from these people and they never leave a message, finally called them back and it is a collection call for an old account I paid off over 10 years ago. They couldn't even tell me where they got my information, they just kept telling me that they had gotten my account from a 3rd party. I contacted the company I had the debt with and they were able to fax me copies of the paid bills and I faxed these to them and they still call.

Guess someone is being collected on and I have the lucky old phone number of this person!

Received a call from this number (showed on my caller ID)  at my place of employment.  No message.  I am not going to worry about it.  It couldn't be important, if you didn't leave a message.

My elderly mom and I moved closer to our family, and bought a new house, and a new land line phone number. We have gotten 2 to 4 calls a day from this company and 4 to 6 calls from others like it, since day 1 with the new number. We tried answering to talk to someone to let them know that they have a wrong number. Doesn't help even when someone does answer. They don't believe you, so the calls continue. We just don't answer our phone anymore, but every time it rings we still have to check and see who it is from.  The calls from this particular company start at 8am and the last call is nearly 9pm. I just got home from the hospital after having major surgery, so these calls are especially annoying.

Check out the above link, this will give you some advise on how to deal with them. It is against the law for them to continue to call you once you have informed them they have the wrong number. The above link contains the following info, but also links to help you out:

    Calling the Wrong Person
If you receive calls from collectors looking for someone who lived in the house or apartment before you, had the phone number you have now, or the person's name is the same or similar to yours, here are some things you can do:

    1. Do not take their harassment! Tape the calls and tell the caller that you are doing so for evidence of their illegal behavior and that you intend to file a complaint with your state attorney general and the FTC. Then, contact your State Attorney General's consumer protection division, use this attorney-general link to locate yours and file a formal complaint. While you're on the phone or the web site, ask if they can offer any assistance such as calling or sending the collector a written warning to stop harassing you. Also ask for a reference to any state laws that offer protection from harassment. Then, file a formal complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) as well using their on-line complaint form

    2. If they ask for your social security number DO NOT provide it. Not even part of it! Instead, have them tell you what number they are looking for and then you can verify whether it is or is not your number. If it is your number, and you believe there is a mistaken identity start thinking IDENTITY FRAUD and take action to protect your credit reports. Tell the collector you believe this might be fraud or ID theft Identity theft; how to prevent it and protect yourself! If the number is your SS number and the debt might be yours, then act in good faith and tell the collector so. Remember you still have the right to dispute the debt if, after discussing it, you believe it to be invalid.

Have been receiving calls from 314-669-2532  for the past 2 to 3 wks.  Didn't owe anyone anything so knew it couldn't be a creditor but if I don't know the number, I don't answer the phone.  A few days ago I accidentally answered one of their calls.  The man asked for Christine. ( Who I am not.)   I asked what number he was calling and sure enough, it was my number (I told him, yes, that is this number, but there was no Christine here.  He was very nice, did not agree with me and said "Ok, I will take your number off of our records.   Also in some earlier post on this thread, someone said that other numbers are associated with this number 636-590-3647 and 636-614-0193 which I have also been receiving calls from.  The name of the Group is  Delta Outsource Group, They are a collection agency.  Ever since then, no more calls, Thank Goodness and my phone has been nice and quiet, except for calls from my friends, just the way I like it.  Thank You for this site, it really helps us figure out who is annoying us.

If this is indeed a debt collector, why don't they leave a message? I've dealt with my fair share of collectors and they always leave messages which is why I question the validity of this company. Like most others, I get calls daily sometimes 3-4 times a day. If I don't know you, I don't answer. If you don't leave a message, I'm not calling the number back to see who it is and what they wanted. Perhaps I'll put them on my block list.

I don't know who this bill collection company is but I figured I'd throw out a few tips to help deal with them. The company I worked for operated within very strict guidelines since bill collecting is very heavily regulated now. I don't know how other places did things, but we worked directly with the people who owned the original debt and would only get a percentage of anything collected.
Anyway, as far as them not leaving a message, or having the robo voice that doesn't tell you anything: that's just how the law is in a lot of states. We could not talk to anyone about a bill unless they were a spouse, or unless it was a parent and the person is underage (in which case it was a misfile and the parents name should have been on in the first place). We also had to confirm the person by name and last 4 digits of the social security number to see if it matched what we had on record. until we did that, we couldn't leave messages or disclose the nature of the call.
As far as them calling at bad times, if it is a legitimate bill, the number they are calling may have been the only one they have on file. Anytime I caught someone at work, I would apologize and ask when the best time to call would be, and make a note on the persons file. Also depending on location, different states have different regulations where they should only be able to call between certain times.
It sounds like they may be skirting the law as far as when they are calling, so I would definitely report that. Bill collectors have to take tests and get licensed, if they are violating laws under the consumer protection act, you could get not only the company, but the rep responsible for the calls fined.

Add one more item to your list:
A telephone call is NOT a legally enforceable method of validating a debt.

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) includes statements such as this:

    * Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money.   ["Written" means snailmailed ... not emailed or texted]

    Lurkers:

IF you wish to communicate with the supposed collector / creditor, visit  the following page, for example "Action Letters" to snailmail:
    http://www.consumerfinance.gov/blog/debtcollection/

If you KNOW you owe no money, or believe the call was from a fake debt collector, please take the time to read this:

Yes, this is "Delta Outsource Group", a debt collector phone service located in Missouri.  They have also called me from the following numbers: 646-736-0906 and 646-461-3721, both of which are New York City numbers.  They never leave a message when they call.  They have called me on average once every 10 days.  They seem to have an unlimited number of phone numbers that they can call from, so you are never sure it is them until you either research the number or call them back.

So... I have to back up that post that mentioned that they are buying debt for pennies on the dollar.  It's called "factoring."  I worked in finance (not in collection) for years and whenever A/R becomes 'uncollectable' rather than simply wash it off the books, companies will 'factor' their debt or sell it at a discount so another company.  This injects them with cash and transfers the debt to another collector.  There's really no limit to how many times this can be done.  But I feel that if you have any collector contacting you for any reason, it's a fair question to ask if the debt has been 'factored' and for what amount.  You may TRULY be able to negotiate your way out of the debt for a fraction (like a third) of the original amount.  Be CERTAIN to get a PAYMENT IN FULL LETTER BEFORE you send over you money.  Again, BEFORE you send your MONEY.  Be sure it mentions releasing all liens they may have placed against you or your property. If you don't they may mysteriously 'forget' that they ever agreed to it and suddenly you're much more 'collectable', you affirmed the debt by making a payment and the ball is 100% back in their court to factor the outstanding balance again.  I assume no responsibilities for your action or inaction based on my post.
