If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.
You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking),  the only thing they understand.

The Mr Number site shows a caller ID of "Certegy" and "National
Info Center" as applied to this number. No idea what "Certegy" is.

National Information Center is used as a phony CID on several numbers on 800notes.  See 757-414-2217 800notes.

Most likely this number is part of the National Information Center Scam

Calls from a variety of numbers and uses different CIDs including National Information Center.  Ignore their calls and block them.

Keeps calling saying they are going to arrest me.. SCAM

This is a scam phone call. Just ignore it. Here's what it said:

This message is intended for (name). We are processing an order in regards to a complaint that has been filed against you I've been retained to schedule service a document that either your residence or your place of employment. If you have 24 hours to contact the client to resolve your case voluntarily.understand when you are located you forfeit that right. There number is 319-208-0254 when calling back  be sure to reference your case number 18596, you have been notified

Got a call from an unknown caller ,saying they were prepared to settle a loan oef$2500.00 it I would call a number they instructed me to,if not they will proceed in legal action,to collect,even sell my house,turns out the number lead to capital one bank,so I called them since I have credit with them,they told me it was a scam,and to ignore them,WELL the [***] called again today,i awnswer and was prepared to give the caller a damn good cussing but the [***] hung up,im stillWAITING to cuss you people out COME ON CALL ME BACK PLEASE

i received a call to day from this number , i like the other lady was supose to have took out payday loan  and all that    only i paid all mine off in a payday loan help  company  over 6 /7 yrs ago  and  about 2 yrs ago moved out of calif.  found out that after a debt is 4 yrs old in calif  it can no longer be collected maybe this might help some one else in calif this loan was suppose to happened in 2010   why do they always try to old debts to choose from this is a scam

This number is harassing me and wanting me to pay money.  I believe they are fake.  They say there is a claim against me and will serve me notice but do not say what the claim is.  This is a scam.

SCAM...SCAM . This number keeps calling and threatens to garnish wages and if you don't pay, you will have to go to court. They sound professional, but they are big time scammers. Don't give them any info!

My sister n law recieved a recorded message from this number advising that a legal complaint has been lodged against me and they have been retained to represen but do not state who they are . And told to call the customer service dept this number immidiately. With a reference number . have a copy of the recorded message

They had the guts to call my mom in Puerto Rico. I am so pissed I am calling the FBI. I took a loan many years ago, but it has been long pay, this is ridiculous.

Keep receiving calls from this number. No one of the name given lives here or has ever lived here. They do not identify themselves, just ask for money. SCAM!!

the number called agaig last night and this morning said someone had a complain against me gave me a number to call bac i did not i think its a scam to collect a payday loan 7 yrs ago scam

Same basic message....very intimidating. Blocked the number

They called me twice so i returned the call. They said the same thing to me as they did to others who have posted. I was being charged with defrauding a credit card company. I never had the type of cc that you load money into. I told them, "fine, let them serve me". I never gave my address or any other info.They did have my last 4 digits of my social security number. Not hard to get on anyone. Can't believe people spend their day trying to scam people!

Called me yesterday and today no message. I've never taken out a payday loan, so I just blocked number.
