- Caller: a company
- Call type: Prank

- Chris replies to COnly legal upstanding companies follow the rules of do not call. Scammer make there on rules.
- ar802called and didn't leave a message. said it was from los angeles.
- BillFlorida fake "charity" fundraising computerized voice robocall.
First call from this fake number that pretends to be from Los Angeles area code.
A nice lady's voice asked for someone here by first name. When I asked who was calling, it said 'Darlene Lewis' calling from the "Breast Cancer Research & Support Fund". When I asked where 'she' was located, it said 'Pompano Beach, Florida'. Well, they have called in the past from other fake numbers.
First - this is not a real person - it is a key word scripted computer routine, a sort of artificial intelligence software. You can play with it for a while before it hangs up, which can be fun if you have the time and are easily amused!
See how many ways you can ask what organization they are representing and see that you get the same answer with the same friendly voice inflection!
(Note: when playing with it don't ever answer 'Yes' or any other affirmative, as they may paste that answer into a modified record to claim you agreed to donate money, and they will send you a 'donation' bill in the mail and harass you further.)
Second - it is not a legitimate charity. It is primarily a fundraising scam that puts a tiny fraction of what it gets to charitable causes to try and stay out of jail. Florida is full of these - many linked to an extended family that has made millions/year for years in this type scam.
Breast Cancer Research & Support Fund is not listed by Charity Navigator.
It does exist however, and a past IRS filing shows only 13% of funds raised went to 'charity' (and these groups usually use accounting tricks to increase that fraction, so there was probably less) - leaving 87% for the 'fundraising' company.
CharityWatch says this is actually "Community Charity Advancement" a 'fundraising' company that has also run solicitations for 'US Firefighters Association' and 'Seven Sisters of Healing'. Probably other scams under other names in the past. When they get sued the company just evaporates and the scumbags resurface with a new name, a new fake charity, and new fake phone numbers.
I finally requested to be removed from their call list, and the computer/Darlene said that she would - but I don't believe her.- Caller: Breast Cancer Research & Support Fund

- Kit replies to SlimAre those garage folk dressed in black? ;--)
- AnonymousCalled asking for "constance" I said wrong number and she jumped into a speech about donating money for women who have cancer. I disconnected.
- sue replies to AJ| 2 replieshad a similar experience. but they asked for Ralph or someone. When she went into her spiel I immediately asked to be taken off their list. This is my cell phone and I only give out the number to those I want to be able to contact me. I have Verizon and am not aware of any way to block numbers. I am technically challenged and don't get along with my phone very well. I answer most calls on my cell as I use glasses for reading but not otherwise and just could not make out the number anyway. Also I don't have that many numbers in my contacts so my phone would not recognize most numbers.
- qwertyDang idiots called my cell phone this afternoon. Now blocked.
- Caller: some DNC-violating scum
- anonThey called my very private cell phone number at 10:25 AM PST on 8 December 2015. Caller ID said "Los Angeles, CA." I did not answer, and they did not leave a message. Contrary to what Bill says above, I report all calls like this to DoNotCall.gov. I believe that they need as many tools as we can give them to combat this problem.
- Poecriminals / scammers. They called my DNC listed #, and did not leave a vm. Only criminals / scammers will avoid leaving a vm because they do not want law enforcement to find them.
- Caller: Scammers / Criminals
