Called by EBESCO - Very annoying happens every few days. No one answers and then just hangs up. I will boycott any magazines that they are trying to sell and complain directly to the publishers

If they are so legitimate, why don't they just leave a message?

They call wrong number and person..and call day and night. Not good.

Thanks everyone for posting the info.  I have a grandson in Iraq and one in Afghanistan and every time the phone rings early or late in the day my heart skips a beat...never know when a grandson might need family support or to just talk with his grandma.

I know what magazine this is and I'm calling their toll free customer service number to make them to go through the effort and expense of stopping these calls.  If the calls continue they and the calling service get reported!

Now any idea on how to get Scientology people to stop...haven't had contact w/ them for over 20 years AND i've reported them.

We have a program set up that tracks phone calls that come into our home number.  Ebsco has called us 12 times in less than a week, 3 times on a Sunday alone.  I've contacted Cooking Light magazine who admitted they contract with Ebsco and said they "do not condone" Ebsco's behavior, nor do they think it the behaviro is appropriate.  They said a complaint would be forwarded to a supervisor.  They invited me to let them know if I needed anythign else from them, so I asked that they put a stop to these calls.  I've continued to receive calls from Ebsco and now Cooking Light has not responded again.  Since Cooking Light is ultimately paying Ebsco to make the calls, I consider them just as guilty as Ebsco.  It sounds like Ebsco is quick to try to make excuses and justify what they do for a living...not much you can do to change who they are and what they are about.  If they believe in what they are doing, why does caller ID not identify their company by name..why did I have to research that?

Doesn't leave a message. I obviously frequent here due to the annoying amount of survey, telemarketer, political, and Portfolio Recovery calls that I get. I am on the DNC list, but it doesn't seem to do any good.

Can anyone come up with an email address for these morons? let's give it back to them with emails. Would that be called denial of service??

I called that number, guy connected me to customer service, and got my number taken off the list. Easy as that.

No need for blind rage and/or attempts at sabotage. Just a bit of research, and the calls can stop via the proper channels.

That would be a Denial of Service attack, and that's a much worse federal offense than a DNC violation. ;)

If they have a past business relationship with you, then the rules of the DNC list do not apply.

Their phone number is on the bottom, and you can just get transferred to customer service (hold time was about 15 seconds) and get your number off their lists.

Because you can't sell/renew anything to a voicemail machine.

Honestly, if they left a voicemail asking you to call an 800 number to renew a magazine, would you call them back?

I'm part of the telemarketing scene, and we never leave voicemails for the above reason. However, we also call people once every couple of months, not 5 times a day. :)

I really hope alot of people actually took the time to read these posts.

Telemarketers aren't monsters, and not all of them are scammers. Most of them are honest people just trying to earn a paycheck.

If you must lump them in with a social class, put them in the same group as people who work at a super-market. :P

this EBSCO TELESERVICE calls at least 2 times a day every day.  when i pick up the phone, there is no one there, and then the line goes dead.
i tried calling back to get taken off the list, and all i got was a lame message that lead me no where.  This is bullxxxx and needs to stop now!!!!

get your head out of your you no where and get a real job. calling blindly at all hours of the day and night, and not even having the decency to stay on the line is HARRASSMENT.

Received call from this number several times.   Didn't answer, just hung up.  Read the blogs above and called the 800 number.  They agreed to take my number from their list.   They were polite.  The number is:  1-800-456-5105

I been getting calls from this number (330-492-2910 on my cell phone, I do NOT answer calls from people in area codes out of my area and that I do NOT know. I am on the "Do Not Call List".

Ebsco teleservices calls repeatedly for a few minutes then waits awhile..4-5 calls in one day just started.

I called this 800 number as noted from a previous post 1-800-456-5105.  They are very nice, transfered me to customer service, asked to remove my number and they said will take about 24 hours.  We will see...

this company calls every day, sometimes more than once.  We NEVER answer - are on a do not call list.  What's up with that?

My system just filters them out automatically as a "nuisance call" so they don't even get through.

Very simple way to get them to stop, do not buy their products and use a competitor.  Quite effective in getting rid of pesky people that bother people all day; so in essence they get nothing, not even a hello.  Interesting pasttime for them though I guess.
