I received the same call today. Didn't answer. My phone transcribed the voicemail for me. This was the message left:
“Hi this message is messed Sony for Sarah Butler my name is Garfield Harbor I'm calling from the office of PBS mediation services the purpose of my call to the file you of your direct involvement in a potential for the lack of here my office is a time sensitive matter and mediate response was made it you can reach me back at 330-931-4018 refer to account number 104505 today 16 August _⁠_⁠_⁠_ _⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_⁠_ you have been notified thank you…” Didn't call back I had a feeling this was a scam.

Matthew goforth called said I owe 1400 in magazine subscriptions at a place a haven't received since 2010. wouldn't let me speak. Saying I needed to pay now

I just got the same call except it was 1800   with a settlement of  200   said they would take me to court if i didn't pay it

I hope you didn't pay them! Never pay someone who calls claiming you owe a debt. Demand they follow the law by mailing you proof of the debt. Phone calls, faxes, emails, and texts are not legal methods of debt validation.

Nope  told him i refused  bc it sounded like a load of bull.  Then he emailed me a document through verisign  which i will not be opening

Got the exact calls today from 330-931-4034 on my VM. Didn't say who was "suing" me... the name was Monica Jordan. PDS mediation services.

If you do a credit check and there isn't an debt collection on it then call the agent through legit resources.

Call an agent if do owe money

Called and said I owed $1500 for magazines from 3 uears ago and named address from 12 years ago. Saying I had a breach of contract. Stated it went to collections. Not on my credit report never was. I never signed up for these and never verbally agreed. Threatening civil suit and court cost. Stated they would settle for 250. Not giving them money. Too suspicious.  I would never pay 19 a month for magazines and I hated all the magazines she named. Scam if I ever heard one.

I also have got a call at an in-laws house. I owe nothing and don't have debts so I know it is a scam. When is the FBI going to arrest them.

Well, in order for the scammers  to be prosecuted, people have to make a complaint.  Read the information below and make a complaint to the proper authorities.

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

Note that the US Supreme Court in the Case of HENSON ET AL. v. SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., has recently ruled that the provisions of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act do not apply if the creditor owns the debt in question.  As a practical matter this probably won't effect the kinds of scam debt collectors who often show up on 800notes.  The scam collectors don't give you any information about themselves so it is impossible to know whether or not they in fact "own" the debt in question.  Most do not send debt validation letters and many often say they are collecting for someone else.  So, make the complaint anyway if they are bothering you.  Let the FTC sort it out.

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.  Tell 'em  no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.

You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand.

Received a call from Kelly Mathews -ph#330-931-4001 about legal actions against me for a breach of contract, she didnt leave more information.

Voicemail same message as so many others about the lawsuit the caller was a Barbara Gordon

I received a call from Barbara Gordon this morning telling me there was a potential lawsuit against me by a magazine company. Apparently I owe a magazine company $1000+ from back in 2014. I have no memory of this and I have been a part of a lawsuit before and this is not how it's done. I have had one thing in my past go to collections and this is not how that is handled either. If it was sent to collections like she claims it would have shown up on my report, which it hasn't. Be weary everyone.330-931-4015
