I received this message too saying I was being sued by the IRS.  This cannot be real and the phone company needs to shut down this spam caller.

Received same call today, as described by others on this list  Threatening lawsuit and telling me to call 360-851-1764.  Message was in garbled, ungrammatical computer voice.  When I called back, person with a foreign accent called me "Miss Elizabeth" and asked, "How are you today."  I said "I'll be much better when you figure out what my name is, tell me who you are and what this call is about."  The man hung up.

This morning we received a phone message in an automated female voice, purportedly from the IRS today saying they are filing a lawsuit against us.  "Immediately call 360-851-1764, I repeat 360-851…".  Obviously some sort of scam.  Irritating!

I called the number back and ask the guy his name. He said it was something or other brown. I said that's not your name, you have an Indian accent. He said back to me, well you have a Pakistani accent! I said, this is a scam isn't it. He said yes, you are absolutely right, it is a scam. We both said goodbye and I hung up.

Call came to my mother's home line. Wanted her to call 360-851-1764
Claimed to be calling for the IRS
Man was very rude and was trying to scare/bully my mother to into paying $2680.00 over the phone.
Thick accent accent knew her name & address. Said they'd sent 2 letters about the payment due for previous years.
Told her they'd haul her off to jail if she didn't pay.
Note: If you look this telephone number up on Spokeo (payable service) the number comes up as a cell phone run by AT&T out of Black Diamond Washington
DO NOT EVER PAY ANYTHING LIKE THIS OVER THE PHONE. GET THE NAME & LOCATION OF THE PERSON CALLING. GET THE NUMBER TO CALL THEM BACK. THEN REPORT IT! I WILL BE CONTACTING THE IRS.

Quick question - may I ask what state you are located in? My mother is in Massachusetts and I would like to know if they are targeting specific areas or if it is random.

Call came from Olympia, Washington to Kansas 1631 hours -J on  3-11-2015. Call not answered. Message said IRS, going sue tomorrow. I do lots of bad things in my life, not paying taxes isn't one of them. Doink--delete.

FYI:

It would be a first if the IRS called anyone.  If they want to pursue you, you will receive a audit notice in the mail.  None of their return correspondence is by phone.  A letter is a physical record of the notification and any further conversation.  Also, it was obvious the message was pieced together by some type of automated calling system.

There's no way to stop the calls from being initiated, but you can protect yourself to a degree with a call blocker.

Called and left an automated voicemail saying the it's was going to sue me and I need to call back the 3608511764.

Called and said lawsuit against us with the IRS.  Told them would contact attorney, and he hung up!

Automated message of a woman speaking in an accent slowly saying to call back this number because there is a lawsuit filed against my husband and I. I had this once before. they threatened to call the cops on me immediately while on the phone with them and have me arrested if I didn't send them money. The call was traced back to a "cellphone" in Washington D.C. Now its traced back to a cellphone in Seattle Washington. Give me a break. Has scam written all over it. I just paid my taxes and even got a small refund back. Who do they think they are scamming. I feel sorry for the poor elderly who are afraid and don't have the resources to check this out before giving the scammers what they want. Obviously it works because they keep doing it.

I've received a robo call from this number 3 times (twice just today). I phoned the FCC and was advised to contact the FTC and report it to them. I have done so. If you would like to do that, the number is 877-382-4357.

I wanted to add that I just phoned them back. A man with a heavy accent answered AS the IRS, and when I told him that I had reported him to the FTC, he said, "Oh. Okay." And hung up. I turned the tables on him and I don't think he liked it very much, since no one is answering the number there now. (At least for the time being, anyway.) :)

The IRS does not need to sue people. If the IRS wants your money, they can order wage garnishments and account attachments without even getting a court order. So this is bogus.

What is interesting, however, is the question of whether these people are committing a crime. It is a federal offense to impersonate a government official. Is it similarly an offense to impersonate a government agency? I believe this might be actionable, and some enterprising soul might just wish to take up the cause!

The number is not in Washington....its a Skype number. I am a law enforcement official and have forwarded the IP address and trace to others to follow up on. IP address tracked to somewhere outside this country.....

This number is a scam...do not call them back. My CPA did not get called.

Won't work.  The calls originate in India and Pakistan.  As such these callers are beyond the reach of US law.  And the local governments do little, if anything to shut the illegal call centers down.

Same here, same number, same computer voice. I got 2 messages. I called and got a busy signal too. I know these people are hard to trace but I would like to see them all get caught. Warn your families especially the elderly!
