IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and ask for money. IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

Received a call from this number on 3/13/2015.  Saying I was being sued by the IRS.  When trying to call back, rings once then get a busy signal.

I got the same caller same message. The second time was unknown caller but same message. I called back from my work number and someone who could barely speak English answered. I laughed and hung up. I agree I hope they get caught. Warn everyone.

Got this message on my VM:  ""Hello this call is officially a final notice from IRS Internal Revenue Service. The reason of this call is to inform you that IRS is filing a lawsuit against you to get more information about this case file. Please call immediately on our department number 360-851-1764. I repeat 360-851-1764. Thank you."
I called and got an Officer of the IRS who stated his Number which he did twice.  Told me there was an Audit and I owed Money.  I told him to get me the amount and I would give it to my Accountant.  He said the IRS does not deal with third parties, and I said they filed the taxes so you have to deal with them.  Please give me the amount due and the line went dead.

caller stated this was a call from irs stating they were filing a lawsuit against me and repeated the number 360-851-1764 and when i tried calling back the number was busy five times i tried.

got a call from this number today claims irs is suing me big scam

Same call as everyone else on 3/19/15 at 10:05 AM.,  Did not answer :unknown number" and they left a voice mail supposedly from IRS giving me final notice to pay up or they would file a lawsuit.  Left a call back number of 360-851-1764

Got the call. Called back and when he said he was the IRS and said "no you're not" he hung up. Had seen report and just wanted to mess with them

I got the same exact call and it was not an AMERICAN speaking man. When I said I was recording the call, because I heard it was a scam, he hung up on me... Not once but twice. I may be dumb, but not that dumb.

Same exact number I got. Once you say the call is being recorded, they hang up on you.

I'm worried and don't want to go to jail. So I'm going to send them all of the money they want.   NOT!!!

Received a call today saying that the IRS has a claim against me and to call this number. It's a scam. How do we report this to the authorities?

360-851-1764 is a scam! they say they are the IRS but they are not.

message on ans machine with the same "warning" from the IRS. She was obviously reading from a script...almost laughable if it wasn't so darn annoying. This scam has been in the newspapers and on TV. i hope no more poor souls are taken in by it. Imagine the IRS using "Unknown caller" as caller ID...really?!
The no. I was to call was 360-851-1764...I hope these frauds are caught soon!

Also got the threatening voice mail message (4 times!) "that the IRS is filing lawsuit against" me.  I called the IRS and they said IRS NEVER files a lawsuit.  They have the power to empty all your bank accounts if you do not cooperate (which we did experience a few years back by their mistake, which was immediately rectified.  Scariest thing I ever experienced...EVERYTHING GONE!)  Also, the IRS will NEVER call you.  They always communicate via USPS mail...One thing you can count on from the IRS  : )  I wish these scammers could be jailed!
