Why struggle!  Why waste minutes!  I don't answer calls if I don't recognize the number or at least the area code.  If they really want to talk with Einstein, they will leave a message and I can call back immediately.
It's like the Gaga song "Telephone".  If you don't like getting telephone calls from that guy on the dance floor, then don't sing about it, just turn off the damned phone, b_tch.  You don't have to be me to figure that out.
    (Great song, though.)

I keep getting calls from 385-226-3690 by a company wanted to reduce my credit card interest rates.  I cannot call this number back.  When the recording says to press 1 for more information a man answers the phone then hangs up when I say I want the calls to stop.  My caller ID shows the call is coming from Utah.

The Do Not Call registry ONLY applies to SALES CALLS!!! If they aren't selling anything (which technically, they arent) the Do Not Call registry doesn't apply. I worked as a Market Researcher (Do Not Call doesn't apply to them either). However, that doesn't mean that they aren't harrassing people....I get a call at least twice a month from these companies on my cell....very FRUSTRATING!!! Best thing to do is not answer it. If you don't recognize the number, ignore it or let it go to voicemail. Chances are, if it is someone who you know trying to get ahold of you, they will (hopefully) leave a voicemail message.

I wonder if Utah has some weird law that allows telemarketers to do anything they want.  I have received several different calls from that state.  In the mean time, for those who have their computers on all day, get Phone Tray Free (Google it) and install it.  You can block calls like this and the program is free.  I have given up on the Feds doing anything about the DoNotCall list.  It is evident that they don't care at all.  The FCC works, but you have to have told the caller not to call you.  With a**holes like this one, you can't call them and tell them anything.

    Nick,
I don't know where you live, but in the Phoenix area we have several companies calling under the guise of "research" and then tell you that because you answered certain questions the way you did, you might need their services.  So saying, the "research" that is being done should be public service or non-profit to qualify for exemption.

You people apparently DO NOT UNDRSTAND!!! file all the complaints you want....NOTHING CAN BE DONE!!!
    1) These companies are not telemarketers, Do Not Call Registry does not apply.
    2) Your phone numbers are not being SOLD....they have a random dialer that picks the numbers, hence the reason your work numbers are being called as well!! And, if they are being sold, maybe you should contact the comapnies that have your information, after all they are the ones who are selling it.
    2) These comapnies MAKE SURE, you, me, the FBI, FCC, etc. cannot figure out who they are and where they are located. The telephone number (this time) may indicate Utah but let me assure you, they are NOT in Utah.
    3) By the time one of these numbers starts showing a pattern, they are changing the number.
    4) If they were actually associated with your credit card/banking institution, they would not be CALLING you....they will send a letter so that you have documentation of what they are offering!!

The best suggestion is to just ignore these calls. We live in a world where everyone is trying to take your money. Don't give them the satisfaction.

Wrong...Credit card companies call their customers all the time. You're a moron.

This may not stop the calls but it will give you some measure of revenge.

Get you an official's whistle (pea whistle) that game officials use in football and basketball. When you get a call from this number, hit #1 to speak with an associate. Then give them an earful as loud as you can blow it--right intothe receiver.

Also, whenever I receive telemarketing calls from females (I'm male), I let them get into their spiel and then say, "Just a minute...." When they stop to hear what I wish to say, I breathe a little heavy and say in a really sick voice, "What're you wearing?" They can't hang up quickly enough.

Just got the phone call and on the caller ID it came up as Cell Phone then the number...then googled and found this forum. I answered and there was actually no reply. I can understand if it was some company wanting to tell you that you're in debt to squeeze either information or money outo f you. But I don't understand what the purpose is calling a random number and not wanting information. Where's the scam in that?
