I called it back.....number is not in service. I found that to be interesting.

I received a call this morning at 10:57am. i live in edmonton, ab. i didn`t pick up and it went to voicemail. no message.
Just out of curiousity, did any of you post any ads on kijiji or autotrader. I`m trying to find a clue as to how they got our telephone numbers.

Its just a scammer.  No, Rogers didn't give out your number.  Randomly generated or they grabbed it from somewhere.  Don't press anything if they request.

I'm a Telus customer in the 'Peg.

I posted an ad on kijiji to sell my car a few months ago. maybe thats how they got it.

these jerks called my bell phone 15 times in two weeks. left no message.

Just got a brand new mobile phone from Virgin last night, and haven't even told anyone my number yet! Received this call at 9:06am, but missed it because I was still asleep. Glad to know it's not important though...

keep getting calls the last two or three days from this number: 1-403-201-9988 and the person calling never answers.  They just hang up.

I got a call too at 7:29pm tonight October 2 2009. I didn't answer I'm in Ottawa too. I'm calling Rogers to report this. I do believe it's a scam. Beware.

Same I think its a Rogers Spam to try to get more business....Shame on Rogers

Scamming the Scammers:
I got calls from 4039868989 and 403-201-9988
If you go all the way through they eventually ask for your credit card number.

What I would suggest is to play along
(DON'T GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER TO ANYONE THAT CALLS YOU - EVER)

Here's why:
Their system works by phoning enough people so that they eventually get the FEW suckers who DON'T terminate the call
They then spend their time on those and get the FEW suckers who DO give their credit card number.

If enough people scam the scammers by first playing along, their system will be busier than they anticipated.  

If enough people then play along by giving fake credit card numbers, their system will be even busier and tied up.  

I can't know how many fake responses it would take to bring their system to a halt.
However, every phone line of theirs you occupy is one that cannot be used to scam people.
And
if they don't get enough suckers, they have to stop doing it.

DON'T GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER TO ANYONE THAT CALLS YOU - EVER.
(That even includes charities you know - how do you know it's really the charity calling you?)

I have a prepaid cell phone I got a call from the same # at 10:57am and they didn't leave a message.  I live in Leduc, AB.  I haven't left my number on any message boards and only give it to family member and my place of work.  I really would love to know how they got my number.

403 is a Calgary area code.

I guess they going further now, got call in Ottawa ON.  Didn't answer, no message left (of course, so I'm expecting more freaking calls)

I just received a call from 403-939-0808 sayin you just won 2360 dollars in travel points please press 1 to claim your prize. Then it hung up on me? Tried calling it back and its not a usable # ?? Scammers! Am wondering if by pressing 1, I am accepting long distance charges?? I have a land line thru Shaw?? Weirdness!!

got a call saying i'd won 2006 travel dollars.  i hung up.  today jan. 25 about 11:20am.

I received the call today (June 11, 2010) stating I was a valued "Canadian Tire" customer and to hit "1" to receive a prize.  This is a scam, so if you receive a call like this just hang-up.
