What a bunch of maroons. This apparently unblocked number is a line that will take you right to their office. I like to do like they do, call up and not say anything. Have done it about 10 times, and each time they get more and more pissed off. They even said something about making a record of my phone number in one of the calls! Can you freaking believe it! They are going to REPORT ME for calling them. Man I haven't laughed so hard in a long long long time. Feel free to call these all star [***] back about a dozen times. While I think the threat to report me for harrasing calls is hilarious, they obviously think we are all idiots. I don't think they would want to go into a court room and try that, and have the actual phone records pulled to see who was harassing who!

    Hello Mike,
I do call these people back very often. I call them back from an unregistered prepaid mobile phone, which I paid for in cash, and I add time to this mobile phone with time cards that I pay for in cash. Let them trace my number if they want to pay the expenses for doing so. All they will ever be able to find out is where the phone was purchased, and where I purchased the time cards (again all transactions done in CASH). The prepaid phones and the minutes may be a bit more expensive, but I only use this phone for this purpose.
    Good luck to Portfolio Recovery.

Drat! A quick glance at the caller ID, and I thought it was my ardent, handsome South American lover, Porfirio, back in town. And here the truth comes out, it is these bottom feeding vermin at Porfoolio Recovery, looking for donations.

Keep calling, Portfoolio, this is call # 365 since your dopey lawyer Pearson stated in writing that you had "decided to cease collection efforts." I bet you think that if you keep on calling, one of these days somebody is going to pick up the phone at this number, and offer to send some $$$$ to further your cause. Or maybe not. Sweet dreams, Portfoolio.

So far, over the past two years, I have compiled a list of 254 numbers used by PRA, and they probably have many more that they use.  They aren't even trying to find me, but rather, the family of deadbeats (I've been asked for at least 5 different people with the same family name) that had this number before me.

You would think these low life's would eventually give up. I don't answer any phone that rings if I don't recognize the number.......no exceptions.
Told them over three years ago they had the wrong person, debt wasn't mine. They don't care, started to yell and try to intimidate me with accusations and threats. That was their big mistake.
Told them to kiss off in not so politely words. Didn't let them get a word in, said my piece and hung up the phone.
They keep calling, I keep laughing.
Do not call list is a waste of space, reporting them does nothing.
Best you can do is ignore them.

This number 404 719 4368 has called me many times. This is Portfolio Recovery from Atlanta and I have told them many times that I do not owe anyone anything and they may have gotten my number from past credit which was paid off many years ago.

Also 859 586 9557 calls me at night and on Sundays and leaves a message from Portfolio Recovery who is trying to collect a past debt. These same numbers and many others also refer to themselves as Obama Portfolion Recovery.

On any of these numbers when I did speak with them (big mistake) no one could ever tell me who the original credit holder was, what the debt was far or where they got my number from.

Does posting on this site do any good?
    John

I don't know if it's my service provider or what but every single call I get from them says "Portfolio Recovery" on the caller ID.  They don't even bother to try to block it, or if they do it doesn't work. I've got 8 different numbers they call from (so far).

Bottom feeders - trying to collect debt from people who have nothing to do with the original to begin with. How the hell do they recruit people to work for them in the first place?  I'd rather clean dairy stalls - I'd deal with less BS.

I just got a call from this number, but I had my ringer off, and I was sleeping, so I didn't answer it. I saw the number, and didn't recognize it so I didn't call it back. I always look up the number on Google before I call it, because I know these collection agencies are out there. I always try to find out if the number is legit. Most numbers I look up are scam calls and there are complaints listed. I do have some debt, but no job, so I can't pay them anyway. I ID them "scam don't answer" so I never have to talk to them.

I was expecting a call from someone and I knew the time but not the number so when this pops up and I answer it expecting it to be my friend and chick starts in all hyper asking if I am there. I kept saying I wanted to know who it was and she said Elizabeth something ... mumbled the last name. When she wouldnt tell me who she was with and I refused to tell her who I was I got grumpy and hung up cause I really dont see a need to continue a conversation to pay them money I dont owe them....

Should have a thing on call type for fake debt collectors since they demand you pay money that you dont owe, if youve paid it off they will still try to collect, if its in someone elses name they will say since its your contact info you need to give them the money anyway etc... as is the case with this... I dont know the person that rang up the debt but my number is attached *lucky me cause there goes my credit :( * and they want me to pay some dudes bills....

    Portfolio Staff Head Hunter
    Portfolio once again.
I must say, having dealt with them through my former employer, (one of the top 5 national Health Ins. Company’s), that the people that founded this company, and then staffed it with people like themselves, are completely immoral, unethical, violent, vulgar, and downright nasty. I’ve seen them try to collect on debt/medical bills, that were initially sent to collections for slow/no payment, only to be paid in full by the Insurance and/or Patient, and then somehow these people find the information and try to collect on the debt that’s previously been satisfied and resolved completely, sometimes months to years prior to them declaring it theirs to collect on.
These D#$)*%Bags are of limited intelligence, so, when they are actually talking to a victim/person, they try to speak about matters that are many points above their IQ, and then get indignant when they are "educated" on the situation/matter being discussed. The have called my line from over 3 dozen different phone numbers, and yet, my phone never rings...it's a lovely thing called "Google Voice". I simply check the spam folder once a day and add any of their new numbers to the blocked list, that way, whenever they call again from that number they get a "Disconnect Recording", provided by Google for free to the user, and it stays that way for eternity, or until you unblock them, which I don't know why anybody would as this company is a complete sham and its employees are nothing less than Identity Thieves and con artists. Please do yourself a favor and use Google Voice, or any other high-rated blocking app, then simply add each new number to the block list/contact and be done with it, it's not worth it to allow them to upset you. Again, if you have the ability to use Google Voice I highly recommend it, especially since the call never reaches your phone, so your minutes aren't effected at all.
Best of luck to all of you in the never ending battle/war with these puss-filled over-picked sores on the taint of society.
