- Penny LaneI just got a call from this number 405-290-2025 for a few seconds I didn't hear anything
Then something that I couldn't make out followed by crappy
Elevator music if it was important there would have been someone on the line when I answered so I hung up- Caller: It never said
- satisfied customer| 1 replyThis is a collections agency, they found my work number and called me there. They actually saved me from a lawsuit from an unpaid last month of utilities from the last place I lived. I only ended up paying half of the bill (75 dollars) and avoided court. You should actually talk to these people and ask why they are calling before being a complete and total ass. They are human beings too and I can assure you they hate their jobs.

- PhoneBanksterBaneI don't have caller ID, and I have a listed number, which is on the no-call list.
Today I answered my phone because it rang, like some technologically illerate rube.
An unfamiliar male voice asked:
"Is this [my first name] [my last name]?"
I responded:
"Who are you?"
With obvious irritation, he replied:
"This is Jim Oliver, can I speak with [my first name][my last name]?" Very sternly.
"Who are you with?"
He hung up.
I wasted some money on a *69, but I believe screening calls is a defective and corrosive tactic, and offer an alternative.
1)I have friends who never answer their phone. They seldom listen to voicemail, and rely entirely on the history from their caller ID which they check periodically on intervals inversely proportionate to the incoming volume of calls. They fear and resent the ringer, and retaliate against it by neglecting their caller ID.
Solution #1: Purchase a high-end corded phone with integrated solid state answering machine at your neighborhood thrift store like I did and cancel the cloud voice-mail. Being assertive is not impolite, and the party who initiates the call should identify theirself and their wishes in a salutation before a conversation is granted. Those are my rules. I am seldom bothered because I enforce them, and enjoy doing it. I don't explain or list my rules to anyone, because enforcement is more effective. Example(from the last stranger who called with an autodialer about a year ago:)
Hello
[I wait for them to answer the cue from their autodialer]
Yes..Mr [wife's maiden name]?
Who's this?
Could I speak with Mr.[my wife's maiden name]?
Were you born in a barn?
huh? I'd like to speak with mr---
WERE YOU BORN IN A BARN?
What?
WHO ARE YOU?
Oh, I'm Mark Markley(or whatever)
Thanks. And who are you?
Oh, I'm calling on behalf of the national association of state troopers(Florida based con was all I could find online a year earlier the last time they phoned)
Are you in Florida?
Huh?
I heard you were a bogus thing in Florida.
Hung up.
Collection agents are different but the rules are the same basically. If they identify themselves and the name of the company (they may be prohibited from saying it's a collection now until they verify they have the right person) and I know who they are, I tell them to contact me by mail.- Caller: refused to identify by hanging up
- another anonymousAll he said was " Yeah this is Jim Oliver and I need you give me a call back at 405-290-2025". Then dead air for 15 secs then they hung up. Do they think i will call back? They can call day and night and I will just let it ring.....and ring....and ring some more.
- ratandreaMy guys says he's Jim Oliver and to call him back. Fat chance.
- srey replies to Hon Bozerur crazy just like then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- SickandTired| 1 replySome guy calling me every morning saying "this is Jim Carr please return my call at 405-290-2037"
and then I get about 10 calls a day all unavailable. I do not plan on returning any of these calls, but it is really getting old. - annoyedEvery morning we receive a call from 405-555-1099. I tried to trace it, only came up with
location, Oklahoma ( Midwest City, Moore, Norman)
When answering the call ( if I do) no one responds , and then disconnects.
I am assuming this is a Collection agency, however, we do not have any issues with that problem, so why are they constantly calling our number, daily? I think only 1 time, a person was on the other end, and I told them to Stop calling this number. The person (s) your seemingly trying to find are not at this number. Well that didn't stop the calls, they continue every morning. I wish they would stay on the line, Id give them what-for ! Now I am trying the NO-Call list, Hopefully that will stop these Disfunctional calls. . If not I will report the number to the BBB, and FTC, and our Governor.
If your looking at this post - 405-555-1099, Oklahoma, Midwest City, Moore, Norman) Take your ball to another Court, cuz, I ain't playing your Phone-Tag- Games. I will also check my phone Bill for UNAUTHORIZED Call fees,( incoming) a from that number and report that number to the Phone Co. too.- Caller: 405-555-1099, Ok. Moore, Norman, Midwest City.
- Amygot a call from this number and an automated message told me to call back. i called back and talked to chris who said i owed over $1000 for an ambulance ride i took in 2009! His next question was do you want to set up a payment plan, WTF! I said i never received any bills or phone calls and besides that my insurance paid it. Then i went off on him and hung up. I tried calling back about 20 times and each time let it ring for a long time. No one answers. i even had my mom and husband call but still no answers. Interesting...BTW the number and website for the BBB is: http://www.bbb.org/us/Contact-BBB/
