received multiple phone calls to my cell stating that there were multiple cases pending against me and that they had been trying to serve me for some time. When I called they would not give me any information but when repeating my information they had on file they had my name home address and cell number correct but the wrong social. Beware they are claiming to have warrants issued

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Got a phone call yesterday on my house phone  from this company but they asked for someone else..today I received a phone call on my cell and house phone they left a message saying I have pending charges against me and he can meet me somewhere to give me a summons or he can come to my job..how can he do that when the number is a Montana number I leave on the East Coast

Well, this is a new tactic for debt collection! The woman who called said that a warrant would be issued for my husband if he did not call the "plaintiff", whose number is to a debt collection agency. She said they had tried numerous times to get in touch with him, news to us, and the sky was about to fall--my words not hers. My husband has a John Smith-type name, and we have been harassed by bill collectors all our married life, thinking he was the one who owed someone money. It's a sad job, and it takes a toll on those who work the phones, I am sure, but this was so ridiculous it was almost funny. Asking some simple questions took her off script and she had to hang up on me.

Get a call from this number, ask me to contact them

I received a call from this number with a lady telling me that I had 24-48hrs to get in contact with the plaintiffs or a warrant will be issued. I guess they don't realize that some people know how the system works. If there was an actual summons then contacting the plaintiffs is useless. In order for a warrant to be issued I first must miss court . These people have been calling and threatening for a long time. They even had the nerve to call my daughter and threaten her about information on me.

I got a call this morning threatening a lawsuit from my county. They refused to give me any information and told me that if I didn't contact them they would come to my job and serve me. I then asked for proof of this debt and when it was done. They refused to give me any information. The called my dad and told him that they were going to arrest me if I didn't pay them.

BBB files indicate that this business has a pattern of complaints concerning the billing or collections issues area. Specifically, complaints are alleging improper collections practices.

On February 19, 2015, Michael Michael Green & Associates, LLC was informed of this concern via email and invited to discuss the pattern of complaints and determine ways in which the pattern might be alleviated.

On April 3, 2015, Mr. Michael met with BBB staff to discuss issues surrounding the company's patterns of complaints.

Mr. Michael provided the following information:

1. Collectors (term given to employees of company) are instructed to call each telephone number of the debtor (term given to individuals who owe money) only once. The collectors are to leave a message with the following information ONLY: company name, name of debtor they are try to reach, collector's name, collector's telephone number, and request for debtor to contact company.
2. When the debtor calls the company and requests a reason for the message, the company provides information on the debt.

3. If the debt is challenged, the company sends validation of possible debt by fax or mail.

4. If the debtor claims the debt was paid, the company will request validation of payment or will call the company.

5. There is script for the collectors to follow.

6. Most (but not all) calls are recorded up until the time the debtor agrees to provide payment. At that point, the recording ends. The call is then transferred to the financial department. Information regarding payment is not recorded as this is considered confidential.

7. They are aware of the Federal Trade Commission Fair Debt Collection Practices.

8. The company, at one point, expected the collectors to review and understand FTC regulations after which they were expected to take a text.

Moving forwarded, the following was discussed in hopes of alleviating the pattern of complaints:

1. Mr. Michael agreed to provide the BBB with updated company information. This will ensure that BBB has current, complete and accurate information.

2. Mr. Michael stated his plan to begin the recording of all collection calls so as to ensure that proper FTC collection regulations are being followed.

3. Complaints and their allegations of inappropriate collection practices may be negated by supplying the BBB with complete recordings of the conversations in their entirety.

4. As a best practice, Mr. Michael stated his plan to reinstitute the practice of his collectors reading the FTC Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

5. As a best practice, Mr. Michael stated his plan to reinstitute the practice of having his collectors take a test on the FTC Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

6. As a best practice, BBB suggested to Mr. Michael that he have his collectors sign statements indicating their understand of the FTC Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

It appears that the BBB was told only what they wanted to hear---and needs to be made aware this agency is continuing to break the law.

I received the same exact call this morning,  I knew something was up so I called my mom right away an we came across all of these complaints..smh

Yeah just got a call from them. Never heard of them, said I had a bench warrant out for 3k. Scary they had my social.  Said I owed money for a company I never even heard of.

Yep got this call to and scary the had my social. I have no idea who they are or who the loan is with that they claim I have not paid. All my bills are paid on time.

Total scam.  Warrants are only issued by local judges and served by local law enforcement officers and are only used in criminal cases. Judges DO NOT issues warrants to debt collectors and debt collectors have NO influence on the criminal justice system.  Being in ordinary civil debt is not a crime and you cannot be arrested for it.  This is just an attempt to scare you into paying them something.

Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  DIME  until the debt is validated.

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.

If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money,  tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.  If you can find them.
