This 407-412-9892 number called both my Mom's home phone and mine this morning.  We're in 2 different area codes and our last names are not the same.  I've also been getting strange calls like this from a Ogden Utah number.  After getting the 6th call from the Utah number, I threatened the caller "I'd report them to the Government, if they called me again I was on the Government DNC List"!  She replied, "It may take 30 days to get your number removed from our list"!  I said, "No! I won't accept that answer, I repeat, If you call me again, I'm reporting you"! They were calling me a couple times a day, it's completely stopped.  Guess I'll do the same with this 407 number.

Both my Mom & I just signed up with Comcast phone service in past 3 weeks.  I've came to the conclusion, Comcast is SELLING our numbers to mass marketing lists!  When we got our new Comcast numbers, we both immediately signed up for the Government "Do Not Call" list.  

This is getting out of hand.....

A very loud, very obnoxious guy called into our law firm asking for "the owner".  Always a bad sign as this is a law firm where the owner's name is the business name! LOL!  So, I asked the - uh...gentleman the purpose of his call and if the attorney was expecting him and he said that he was calling from the NEW YORK Police Athletic League and when I asked, he said that "YES,[he] was expecting the call".
 
Well, seeing as how we are in FLORIDA that made no sense, but I did not know if my boss had signed up for something, so...I'm polite and kind to EVERY caller because you simply never know
I asked the guy to hold, told the attorney that it might be solicitation and be prepared to hang up, but the guy hung up before he was even transferred.  Maybe had second thoughts about trying to scam a lawyer?
Regardless, we've never been called before by these clowns and I am worried as 'Funny Mermaid' posted that she switched to Comcast and the calls started.  We JUST ordered Comcast Business 'net & phone and we are 'porting' the same phone numbers that we have always used.  I believe that 'Mermaid might just be on to something and since our service has not yet commenced, I will be asking them in writing if they have sold our number.  I will only accept an answer in writing and I'll post if it's anything noteworthy.

This number just called the man stated he was with fl police intel and wanted to speak with me tried get info out of me with no reason for this info so I just hung up if this number calls do not talk to them or give them any info.

Answered call today from this number; no response on the other end?  Go figure??

I have been getting calls also from this number, guy said he was from a police organization i said i am not interested and hung up on him!  I still get daily calls from this number, just now at 11:50 on a Sunday morning...how dare them!!! I just signed up with Comcast also I don't know if that has anything to do with it and he called me by name also...

Just received a call from them.  There was heavy breathing on the other end (creepy), and after saying hello a couple times, a man finally asked for Mrs. Johnston.  As I've never been married, I replied there was no one here by that name and he hung up on me.  *shrugs*

These people give the so-called "Police Athletic League" a bad name. They have been calling me for 3 weeks, sometimes before 7:00am. Why don't they just have a bake sale or something?!

you can file a claim with the same reg you sighed up w/ on the do not list. but they have to call many times and you have to document the call's

Doesn't work... the just called me again this morning after 3 weeks of placing my number on their free Di not call list.... whatever.  I just tell them they have the wrong number now.

Ok, so I am napping and this number 407-412-9892 calls & wakes me up... Silence, then they hang up..  Now, my number is a NEWLY activated one, as I just recently signed up with Brighthouse about 2 weeks ago... The only people who have been given this number totals approx 6 trusted friends/family members. We gave it out to very few people and use primarily our cells.

Has anyone else begun Brighthouse service and had this start up?
Also, the Orlando Sentinel has been calling repeatedly, even continuing after I specifically said NO & DO NOT CALL ME EVER AGAIN. They are obnoxious.  

The whole do-not-call list is a joke. This is why we were wary to have a home number, because with cells, there's no BS calls from people you don;t know  (unless a misdialed number!)

just rec'd a call from this number. A man very excitedly said " hey julie.... This is the police athletic league!" I said "im not interested. Also, I am on the national do not call list." he became very rude and said " yea well I've never heard of this do not call list" I replied "well that makes it a federal crime to call me with the intent to solicit money". He never said another word.... Just sat there... I finally just hung up.
also, within the last month we just signed up for this number with verizon fios. We get atleast 5 calls a day. I finally point blank asked one of the nicer ones how they got my number. He informed me that his company purchased it from verizon... I confronted verizon customer service regarding this and was informed that it is general practice unless you choose to have an unlisted number. (a $4 per month fee)

I think you accidentally lied to the caller.  The federal Do Not Call list exempts charities, even the fake ones.  

Charities that ask for donations over the phone typically only about 30% of every donation goes to the charity.  The calling company keeps the rest to cover the cost of fund raising.  

If you want to support a charity send them a check.  Skip the telephone soliciter.

I got 2 calls from this number and second time I went to answer they hung up. So I do a search on the  internet to see who was calling me and found this site and thank you. With my officers background I will know how to handle them if they try to talk to me.

Yeah the SOB called my house, but I didn't answer. So when I tried to call the number back, it remained busy....so I typed the number in and I am glad I did. These scumbags need to be locked away and the key melted!!!!

Someone called today and I did not answer...did a check on the number and found all these complaints against this number....
What a PATHETIC soul he must be to just ist around and make calls to annoy and pilfer money from people...and sounds like he's a PERVERT too!!!!
