I didn't answer the phone.  Caller ID said :Local Call"  LMAO!  Local!  407 area code is 4hrs from here!

I called the toll free # mentioned by Lisa (Sept 2010).  Hopefully it'll work!  Sick of the solicitations!

SoFl .. interesting.  As a former NYer, from a family of NYPD as well as local town cops in the surrounding areas, I can tell you that when they call in NY saying they're soliciting for the Police, it's a scam.  

And it's very possible that Comcast (or one of their affiliates) sold the numbers

Just save the number into your phone's address book. Then set the ring tone to "none". They can call all they want and your phone doesn't do squat! :-)

Received a call from 407-412-9892 and a man asked for the owner and he identified himself as Antonio Martinez.When I told him the owner was not in, hung up. I called back and it has a recording stating is the PAL ()Police Athletic League) I think this is just another fund raiser call.

These guys just called my job and asked for the branch manager by first name. I always answer the phones and we get tons of junk calls, so I am good at spotting them by now. I said he wasn't in (even though he was) and the guy just said OK very quickly and hung up. Now I know he is just going to try to extort money from my boss I will definitely not be letting him through! It comes up "local call" on the caller ID. Thank you to all the previous posters on here!

I have received about 8 or so calls from them.....  I have spoken to a guy once, who said he was raising $ for the State of FL, Police Athletic League.... I told him I didn' t have enough discretionary $ to donate.... he said..." it sounded like I had a heart of gold, just not pockets of gold....."... I thought that was pretty clever... but unfortunately I still receive calls from this # but do not pick up any longer.....

He just called me. I told him I wasn't in. He won't leave a message but last time he called he said it was for PAL. My neighbor is a cop and told me not to donate to PAL. Go figure?!?!?!

What a nightmare conversation!  When 'jerks' like this invade our privacy and take up our family time trying to TAKE ADVANTAGE of our hard-earned money, it causes me to want to 'jerk' their finger nails out.  WOW!  Thank you for allowing me the time to express my anger.  

My GodFather is a Psychiatrist; I asked Him one time, if I were crazy by saying, "I'd like to find this 'jerk' and pull out his finger nails".  His response: "If you were to track the "jerk' down and pull His finger nails out, then you would be considered crazy".   I'm soooooo happy I'm not crazy and also happy I didn't have to pay for this medical opinion.  

MY SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM:  I try to eliminate the stress and fear this type of call generates by dressing it up with a little humor and quickly moving back into the "business of life".  Before I move on and away from my phone, I SAVE THE NUMBER AS "DNA1, DNA2, DNA3," etc.  When I look at my caller ID and see the "DNA", I know it is a call that I "Do Not Answer".  God Bless & Good Luck!

They just called my business and asked for the owner (which is me)  I said they weren't in right now but can I take a message - they said no they'll call back tomorrow.  I told them "She'll be back in just a minute" trying to get something out of them and he said no-  I'll call tomorrow.   Tomorrow, I won't be answering.   I have comcast also.

This is a scam tele fundraiser for it would seem multiple charities that are questionable themselves. However, in most states they must start their pitch by saying

"Hello, my name is (full name of fundraiser registered with the SOS or AG) and I am a paid fundraiser with (full name of fundraising company registered with AG or SOS) and I am calling "on behalf" of (full name of charity registered with AG or SOS)

If they do not do this and they claim to be members of the group they are raising money for then they are committing fraud against the donor. It is considered in some States to be "Obtaining Money By False Pretenses" and in others it is considered "Theft By Deception" and still other States considered it to be "Larceny". But no matter what you call it it is stealing from the Donor. In some cases when they get caught they are fined as much as 40 grand per call. I read our States Charitable Solicitation's Act and it looks like very few of these companies are raising money according to the Law's of our State and I will bet that if you read your States Charitable Solicitation Act you will find the same to be true.

When they claim to be a member of the group they are raising money for, as this company is doing, it is damaging all other charities that do not use so called "Professional Fundraiser's" to raise money. They all know this but they continue to steal from "us" the donating public. Fundraiser's like this must be put out of business as they lie to the donor and they do this because some of these so called fundraisers get to keep as much as 99% of the money they collect and they use that money to call us over and over again to ask us for more money that they can use to call us over and over again. If you want to give money to charity then the best way is to hang up on the tele fundraiser committing fraud and search out the charity yourself.

This company seems to be calling for Police Fire and Veteran's groups as well as medical and children's groups. All of which are wasting the bulk of your donation on fundraising and administrative costs like salary's for the charity officials. They are the people whose information took out the United States Navy Veterans Association that stole 99.6 million in donations last year. They were also behind the demise of Civic Development Group out of NJ and the FTC's Operation False Charity in 2009 Nationwide based on their book "The Fraud Happen's In The First 8 Word's" which was sent out to all AG's and SOS's. They say they have contacts with the AG's, SOS's ,DHS, FTC, DOJ, FCC and Secret Service across the Country and their tips have been used in some of the largest Charity Fraud investigation's Nationwide as well as other Countries.  You can also find their book called "What The Fundraiser's Say" at a link on their site. They say they are a Church Group and they say this is the Mission of this Church to protect donations going to Police Fire Veteran Medical and Children's Charities. That book is a real eye opener made up of comments by the people calling you. After reading it, I will sure never make a donation over the phone again to any group that use so called "Professional Fundraiser's" that operate outside of the law and use illegal techniques to steal money from little sick kids or cops or firefighters or anyone else who really needs it.

Anyway, the long and short of it is, GIVE DIRECTLY AND CUT OUT MIDDLEMAN COMPANIES THAT CALL YOU!

This number called today and asked for my mother by her first name, I said she's not here, and who is this.  The woman said "Jackie" and that she'd call back.  I told her my mom was out, she said she'd call back.  I told her she had to deal with me.  She hung up.  I usually have a call blocking machine turned on but was expecting a call so turned it off.  Next time they call they won't get anything except voice mail.  It showed on caller ID as "Florida Call".  Scam Scam Scam obviously aiming at elderly like my mom.

Not just the elderly! I answered saying "I've asked to be taken off this call list"--because I did, last time I talked to these people, He became furious, said he was just calling to thank me, asked me why I was so rude...I said "what are you thanking me for?" and he hung up on me! Don't know how I was rude...

Received a call tonight from this number caller ID said local call. I live in Palm Beach County, area code was from Orlando that is almost 3 1/2 hours away. Not local.
The woman very rudely asked for my Father by name however I had to ask her to repeat herself as she had a very heavy accent. When she said it the second time she was even ruder, when I said No he was not here she hung up on me.
I also am on the DO NOT CALL LIST! Why am I getting these calls?

They just called now. Same thing as what most of you had said. 'Local call' (Orlando area's not local), asked for my dad by first name. Told him he wasn't here, and the guy just hung up on me. I've worked in telephone fundraising years before and you had to at least tell the resident that this was a courteousy call and you'll try again. If this is P.A.L., I doubt that the main P.A.L. office hosts these jerks. I've talked to PAL fundraisers before and they have to be polite also.

yes, I got a call today, and Thank God, I leave my answering machine answer all  my unknown calls, they hanged up when my voicemail answered. I googled number and I'm glad I did and read all the above messages. Thanks... It's really annoying, since I run a childcare and they called during nap time, it's very upsetting. It's not just this number, but so many calls and don't leave any messages.

This number called my place of business and wanted to speak with the owner.  Told him the owner was here and he hung up.  Just like that!

keeps calling, asking for my wife by first name only.  Doesn't want to leave a message, but said to say that Reggie called after 3rd attempt to reach my wife.

I get a call every day from this number......a woman said she dialed the wrong number
