The DNC list is only a false sense of security. With all the number spoofing going on, it's impossible to track down the originators. We need to be notified day-zero of when these new numbers start their spam calls. Hooray for social media?

Get a good number blocking app and follow http://twitter.com/thednclistsucks and keep your block list current.

Post @TheDNSListSucks and #StopCallingMe to inform others what numbers to block, before it's too late.

After you register, and you get unsolicited calls, you need to go on the site and file a complaint (with details). I follow this process and after reporting the violators, I NEVER get another call from the perps.

Simple solution: if you don't know the number, don't answer or ignore the call. Most of us have smart phones where are contacts are stored, or caller ID at home. If it's someone you know, they'll leave a vm.

I received a call from this phone number, but when I called back, using my office phone instead of my cell phone, the message was that the phone number was disconnected.

Recorded message telling me I've been selected for a Disney vacation package and it gave me a special claim number. It gave me the option to press 2 to be removed from their call list so I pressed 2. I shouldn't even have to press 2 as I am on the worthless do not call list.

I just got a call from this number on my cell. I have gotten it before and I just ignored it. This tme I answered. Nobody was on the other side. I called it back and got a message from the phone company saying that the number has been disconnected.

This is just another case of telemarketers soppfing numbers.

Now that the idiot telemarketers are spoofing phone numbers to show up on the caller ID, there is no way to report them. Yes, the Do Not Call list is now worthless.

Wow! That's a little harsh... Inform... Don't scorn. You actually have a good tip. Most of us got on the Federal Do Not Call list and of course you know, that is an exercise in futility. So, thanks to my trusty Panasonic phone, it ID's numbers for me and if I don't recognize the area codes, I Google it and come to sites like this to see who else is getting hounded. I'll look into this 50 states worth of No-call lists. Interesting concept. Thanks, and please play nice. We're only human.

    1. This phone number is probably not the real number they're calling from. The fact that they used a Florida number and say the word "Disney" means nothing. They are scammers, using spoofed numbers and sophisticated equipment. Their sole purpose is to scam you out of your money. The people calling are probably from Nigeria, Ukraine, etc.
    2. Scammers do not follow laws. The Do Not Call list protects us from receiving calls from legitimate telemarketing firms. It cannot solve the scammer problem because scammers are calling from disguised numbers and are probably overseas.
    3. When you get a call from an unknown number, do not answer it. A legitimate caller will leave a message. Once you've verified on a site like this that the number is a scammer, use your wireless or landline provider's services to block the number.
    4. If you answer these calls and play silly games with the scammers, understand that you have just done them the favor of verifying that your number is real and active, and that you are a prime target. All they need to do is suck in one out of every 1000 calls to scam millions of your dollars. Only when we make it unprofitable will they stop. Tell your older relatives. Saddens me to think of how many grandmas and grandpas are losing their money to these scams.
    5. The good news is, we are not in a zombie apocalypse. So please relax, hug your kids and let minor annoyances roll off your back.

Call was disconnected as soon as I answered. I called the number back and got a recorded message that it had been disconnected. I wonder if Homeland Security is up to some funny business.

Didn't recognize the number so didn't answer.  They hung up before the call could even go to voicemail.

Got 2 calls from this number today.  They were exactly 15 minutes apart.  I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message.
