- really replies to John Doereally you told others not to post vague statements or what they think occurred and then you post most likely a bill collector.... seriously!

- Frank| 1 replyI think those calls that hang up are a machine that tracks when your home to answer, so others know when to call. Thanks to the betrayal of the phone companies, these guys can get phone numbers that cannot be called back. If your busy, just hang up, but if you have some time, answer them and go for whatever they are selling. Just give them a false name, address, even a false telephone number, city and state. It can be fun, but more importantly, it drives up their cost. If enough people do it, it will not be cost effective for them to spam us with all those unwanted and rip off calls.
- Badge714 replies to FrankFirst off, hang up calls are due to the fact that telemarketers dial many numbers at once. The first one that answers the phone gets the telemarketer. The others are dropped & put back into the dialing pool. As for phone numbers that can't be called back. That is due to caller ID spoofing (faking). Foreign and domestic criminals often use invalid phone numbers. for example there are no area codes in North America from 000 to 199. As well there are no prefix that start with a 'zero' or a 'one'. As they are invalid, you can't call back - they don't exist. Telemarketers also use Voip computer based calling. These PBX systems are easily set up for outgoing calls only. You can't call back because their system won't allow it.
- Laser| 1 replyAccording to the latest search that I've done at numerous sites... the number belongs to Port O Disney's out of Orlando. Whether this is the actual owner or not is anyone's guess, I'm just posting what I found out from an android (cellular) app called Reverse LookUp. I found it to be helpful for the last 2 (and the only 2) non-wanted calls that I received.
- Caller: Port O Disney's (as it was displayed)
- Call type: Telemarketer

- R2D2 replies to Vinnie BoombatzOn an Iphone, like mine for example, if you block a particular phone number and that phone number calls you again, it will go directly to your VM and your phone will never ring. When a phone number is on your block list, even though your phone is on, it gives that caller from that blocked number the impression that your phone is turned off.
I loved that feature on my iPhone. 😄 - R2D2 replies to IrritatedThe quickest way to add a number to your block list on an IPhone is, go to your "recent" call list and find the phone number. On the right hand side, there is an Icon that looks this (I), press that symbol, then scroll down to the bottom of the screen and select "block this caller" and it's automatically added to your block list and once it's in your block list, you don't have to change any of the settings on your ringer. Just my opinion, to me, that's the quickest and easiest way to add a number to your block list without creating a lable called "spam" in your contact list just to add a number to it. Like my IPhone for example, once a number has been added to my block list, regardless of who it's from, if they call from that particular phone number again, it goes straight to my VM and my phone never rings.
- Anne replies to A.M.the DNC list is for legitimate business, most of whom comply. The list is not effective against scammers or fraudsters. They use computer generated dialing which is essentially untraceable then change the number quickly. The government is outgunned and being on the DNR list is ineffective.
The best advice is to block any numbers you don't recognize. If it's legitimate they will find a way to contact you. - R2D2 replies to bobWhen purchasing a cell phone or updating your cell phone to a newer model, you should check to see if that particular phone has a blocking feature that come with the phone. Like mine for example, IPhone 4S, it has that feature already that can block phone calls and text messages as well.
