I keep getting calls from this number every single day, no voicemal.

This number has been calling me since 11/17/10 3-4x a day.  I called the number and its a recording saying they are calling about a local newspaper subscription and has info about getting your number removed.  Nice of the a$$ to put that info there but I am on the DNC list.  I am still filing a complaint and I encourage everyone else too as well.

I get at least 5 calls a day from them. I answered once and he was asking for someone over 18 yrs old.

I work for the company in question. If you want to have the calls stop simply call 408-535-0182 and leave your number that you want to have removed from the calling list.

They hung up as soon as I answered. From the other comments, this appears to SOP for whoever is making these calls.

6 calls in three days w/ no messages left on recorder.

They seem to be taking turns calling. Not only do I get calls from this number but they are also calling me from two other area codes as well. They are all different newspapers apparently which have the same parent company is my guess. Everyday I get at LEAST 1 call from one of the three numbers. They never leave a message, or do they talk to you.
They call as this number 925-281-6420, as well as 415-535-0182 and 707-238-5446

this is SJ Mercury News when I called back they had a recording and they don't have caller ID.  If you leave yr ph# they will remove your # from their list - supposedly!

For the last three days I have been receiving calls from this number. If it was just once a day, I wouldn't be as upset. But they call between 6-10 times Per Day, starting around 8am till about 9-10 pm. Three days of harassment.

I'm posting now because the exact same thing happened to me last year, around the same time. That time the harassing calls lasted about two weeks, just constant spam of my phone.

I researched the number last year, and discovered it was the Mercury News. A poster here named James, who supposedly worked for the company, posted here saying to simply add your number to a "Do Not Call" list.
I followed his advice and did so.

And here we are, exactly a year later, and the harassment begins anew. It's been 3 days. I do not want another two weeks of this.

If this is the way the Mercury News chooses to treat people, I hope they go out of business. I have never had a subscription from them, and, as I do not live in San Jose, never will. But even if I were to move there, considering this type of harassment, I would never even consider them.

If you are receiving phone calls repeatedly from this number, report them as harassment, or report them to the Better Business Beaureu

If you call this number back it gives instructions for putting your phone number on their Do Not Call list! Much appreciated!!

Haven't received a call from them in a long time, but got another one today.  No message left.

I get calls from 408-535-0182. it's realated to newspapers according to a callback from another #.

Stop calling my home number three to four times a day. I am not interested in a subsription to their news paper.

call 4-9 times a day/night

It is the San Jose Mercury.  I received a call this morning, this afternoon and now this evening.  No messages were ever left.  I finally, out of frustration, answered the call this evening at 4:45 pm.  It was a telemarketer for the San Jose Mercury Newspaper.  I guess the call is permissible because I subscribed to the paper but quit it 6 months ago.  The woman said she would take me off the telemarketing list.  If you are receiving these unwanted call, give the Mercury a call and tell them to cease.

I have been getting a ton of calls from this number.  I recommend going to the Federal Trade Commissions webite (www.ftc.gov), registering your landline (and cell phone) on the Do Not Call registry. When you receive annoying calls from them, go to the FTC website and fill out the Complaint form (easy and pretty painless).  The Feds will keep track, fine them, and sue them.

See this number calling the last couple of days and today they called more frequently.  Base on the other reports, I decided not pick up the calls and just now has set it to be blocked on my phone.

I recently began receiving calls from 408-535-0812, sometimes 3 or 4 times a day. Whoever is calling never leaves a message.

I just received a call on my cell and she identified call as San Jose Mercury - she spoke very fast I had to ask her to repeat herself.  I asked her to not call me again .

Yes, it is Mercury News. I talked to them many times and keep telling them that I am not interested. Asked them to delete me from their calling list. They said they will do it but I still get this over and over again for the past 3 years !!!  Just got 2 today, luckily I was away from my desk.
Added them to the donotcall registry but they still continue. Annoying.
