If nobody has stopped the calls for you, now is the time for you to block them yourself!

Have you considered obtaining a call blocking device, app, or phone?  Google (or your favorite search engine) IS your friend!
Realize that the Do Not Call list is NOT a call blocker!

Here are some tried and true methods for reducing or eliminating repeated spam / scam phone calls:  Click on the Info link, below, to see them

    Info
Want to stop repeated telescam phone calls?
    Try these alternatives:

    1.  Do not answer the phone if you see an unknown number on your Caller ID ... let it go to answering machine or voicemail.  Many telescammers hang up after three or four rings.

    2.  If you have a smartphone, get one of the inexpensive or free phone blocker apps at your online app store, and learn how to use it.

    3.  If your cell is not "smart", read the manual to learn how to set up a "group".  Assign the scammer's phone number to that group.  Also assign a "silent ring" to that group.  You will not hear your phone ring if that number calls you again.

3a.  Alternately, assign a "silent ringtone" as the DEFAULT ringtone.  Then, assign your favorite ringtones to friends, family, contacts, businesses, etc.  That way, you will not hear your phone ring, even if the scammer changes numbers!  (Disadvantage: if you forget to whitelist somebody, you won't hear their calls, either)

    4.  For cell phones or landlines: Contact your phone service provider.  They may have a facility or method to allow you to block numbers.

    5.  If you buy things online, you might want to google "phone blocker" to see what devices or apps Amazon or other sites have to offer for landlines or smartphones.

    6.  DO NOT call unknown numbers back without checking who called (800notes is your friend)! All that does is verify your number is "live".  Instead, read this:
    http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/blog/one-ring-cel ... ing-your-wallet

    7.  Consider picking up the phone, then immediately hanging up.  A "real" caller will usually  call you again, within seconds.  A robocaller will not.

If you want to report potential fraudulent or scam calls, here are two pages of links to (mostly government) sites in Canada and the USA were you can report those scams, or learn more about them.

    1.  Look elsewhere on this page (probably to your right) for the Article, "Where to Report Phone Crime"

I also got called by this number, spoke to a person, about a google listing of my husband's business with a street address from many, many years ago. I was told two different prices that he owed. My husband was old and computer illiterate and in fact is no longer here. They also called using Skype, but I don't use it.

    Victim of Butt Munches
I had a bunch of calls last 2 days, from numbers originating in FL (supposedly). Posing as school administrators or cosmetic company, all claiming on voice mail to be following up on "my" call for "more information". Never called them in the first place. This is my company phone, belonged to a previous colleague who was just as professional as I am. Now getting a call today from this number, but Phoenix area code. No voice mail. Rechecking VoIP phone's settings to be sure it automatically rejects anonymous callers. Thought I took care of this yesterday, but the settings were back to default.  :-(   Also am using the Blacklist feature for these numbers, but I'm afraid it's a losing battle.  I'm taking this quote directly from another victim: "Butt munches"  That about sums it up!

Received a call from 818 273-0354 but the caller ID read 408 582-7978.  I assume that these criminals got their spoofed numbers mixed up.  No problem - we have the entire 408 area code blocked and we have their 818 273-0354 phone number blocked.

Modern spotlight claiming to represent google business accounts and that two years ago google implemented payments needed to be made on accounts to remain active. I spent 25 mins on the phone with John updating my information as I had issues with my account but he became aggravated when I told him I wasn't paying until I had an invoice. He then proceeded to get one emailed to me while he went to his finance department to get one made. However I told him I wasn't paying the invoice until I verified with google that this isn't a scam. John was very upset with me and his unprofessional language made it very apparent I was being scammed. He then hung up on me. Lol. However, 6 hours later they called back. I think John forgot he called. Lol. Needless to say when I told him he was a scam he yelled at me saying he was not and hung up.

2 calls today that I let go to voicemail, got the threatening message that I was going to lose my google privileges or something like that.  I dialed the number and got an answering machine telling me that I had reached Modern Spotlight but was outside their standard EST hours of operation.  Interesting for a CA area code.
