They are an automobile extended warranty company with a recorded announcement telling you that the "warranty on your vehicle may be about to expire". Like all semi-scams, they carefully choose the words of their announcement to make it sound like they have something to do with either your dealer or your auto manufacturer, neither of which is true. As far as I can tell they simply go telephone phishing, knowing that a high percentage of people they call will have a car with a warranty of some sort. They use scare tactics hoping they can dupe people into buying an overpriced extended warranty on their vehicle. They also use direct mail. I got a notice for a similar (maybe the same?) company which was addressed to my uncle, who's been dead for over 10 years. They wanted to advise him that his factory warranty was - oh - my - god - about to EXPIRE!!!! I was tempted to call them and ask how much they wanted to warrant a 1991 Buick owned by a dead person. I don't know if the fact that the car had gone through the car crusher long ago would have made a difference, but I ultimately resisted the temptation to call. The name that came up on my caller ID was "C.A.W.". Maybe that will help.

Some more info: if you select the option that connects you with a sales agent, you are transferred to "Certified Dealer Services". This is a company in Phoenix which operates a call center. Business must be good, because they are advertising extensively in Craigslist for salespeople (by the way, they're paying $10 per hour plus commissions if you're interested in a job which makes you the universal object of scorn and derision).

Their website is CDSWarranty.com. A WhoIs search shows the following as the registrant:

    piccerillo, louis
    certified dealer services
    7047 e green way pky
    #370
    scootsdale, AZ 85254
    US

I don't know who C.A.W. is, although it could just be a set of fictitious initials. Their are legitimate automobile-related organizations using the same acronym: Canadian Auto Workers and Canadian Auto Warranty. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that this company purposely chose these letters to mislead people - misleading is their entire business model, after all - into thinking that these calls originate in a foreign country, out of reach of U.S. telecommunications laws.

I couldn't find anything substantive on Louis Piccerillo.

Just called and hung up. Googled the number and found all of this! I have received SO MANY expired warranty calls/mailings since buying a car recently. They really do scare you into thinking that it is some imperative you go renew your warranty. I feel really badly for people getting duped by this.

Say's that "this is the last call amd my factory warranty is about to expire, press 2 to be taken off the follow up list or press one to speak to a person".  I've hit 2 several times, naturally that doesn't work so I've hit 1 to speak to a person.  They say that our number will be taken off, but I'm still getting the calls....  They've now started to call my cell phone.  How did they get that number?  I'm also getting them from phone number 301-223-0106

I get these calls at least once a day... EVERY DAY... The automated system offers to let you opt out by pressing 2, you press 2 and it say's "Thank You" and disconnects. So today I happened to be home (doesn't happen often) so I pressed 1 to speak to a representative, I told them I want the warranty, the rep. said "does your vehicle have less than 150,000 miles?" I said, "It shouldn't matter I want the warranty I can't get you people to stop calling me no matter what I've tried, and now I want the warranty, it doesn't matter what vehicle I have I want the warranty."  He hung up on me.  They won't SELL me the warranty that they are harrassing me every day about. So I called the number back, and got the message aforementioned. HOW DO WE STOP THIS !!!!!!!!! ?????

I have been getting calls from this phone number regarding the expiration of vehicle warranty expiration. I was baffled as I contacted my insurance agency to check whether it came from them and got a negative response. You are not able to call back to the same number if u try. I am sure it is a nuisance.

    Excellent work bill!

Here's Piccerillo's mortgage and title information! Perfectly legal information.
    http://recorder.maricopa.gov/recdocdata/GetRe ... t=250&res=False

If anyone knows of any services this guy can use for his house, by all means, send some mail to him at that address! Perhaps he's interested in refinancing. I see he has a mortgage and a floating rate line of credit.

Here's the link anyone can google for their cl postings:
(Kudos to Bill who originally had this one):
    http://www.google.com/search?q=cdswarranty+site%3Acraigslist.org&btnG=Search

If anyone can dig into those links somehow to retrieve the historical
craigslist post, please post here! The original links are no longer on
    craigslist.

I contacted the Arizona division of corporations and was directed to contact either the Better Business Bureau or Atty Generals Office.

Before I contact them, I'll let this stew a bit. Anyone else having information on these jokers, please post here call details and how you were annoyed.

I've received numerous phone calls from this company, always a recording.  I've pressed 2 to be removed each time they called any one of my numbers, starting more than 30 days ago so I should not be receiving these calls.  Received another one today, pressed 1 to speak with a rep, told the rep that I would like all my numbers removed from their list and I was promptly hung up on.

I've filed a complaint with the FCC form 1088 for Telemarketing at this web address:
    https://esupport.fcc.gov/form1088/1088cform.do

I gave this web address (https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-408-651-8192) to show there are more people upset with CAW, LAP, CDS or whatever they are calling themselves.

Between the FCC, BBB, Arizona Division of Corporations and the Attorney General's office, perhaps someone will listen and help.

    CDS Lou replies to bill
Hey Bill this is Lou from CDS  I NEED YOUR HELP!!!  we are not calling out!!!  Some company out there is dialing out and using disconnected numbers from different parts of the country along with our real 800 number to show up in your caller ID.  This problem started about 10 days ago and I knew something was wrong since we do not call out. I made a few phone calls and found out that anyone with a dialing system can program ANY NUMBER THEY WANT TO SHOW UP IN THE CALLER ID.  So obviously someone is trying to link us to being the caller.  Fortunately one of the people who called in here to complain gave me some very good information that led me to this website. He also gave me 3 different numbers that showed up on his caller ID.  THEY ARE ALL DISCONNECTED NUMBERS or not able to be connected to. If we want to find out who is really behind this we need to have someone who gets a call from this number to opt in and play along and pretentd they want to buy.  Tell them that your going to mail in a check and see what their company name is and what there address is?  That will be the real copmpany that is behind these calls coming from 408-651-8192.  I'm in AZ and there is no area code 408 in AZ.  There are many other companies out there that do dialing campaings just like this so it is very possible to get calls from other numbers as well but they would more than likely be a different company than the one that is behind this 408 number. The one troubling post I saw on here was the one where someone said that when they did opted in someone answered the phone " Certified Dealer Services"  I am at a loss for words for that one.  There are a number  warranty companies around the country that have very similar names so maybe the person was mistaken.  There is "Dealer Services"  "Dealer Warranty" is another.  Obviously I need to find out about this more than you do. I apologize for any inconvenience and will join along in the quest to find out who is doing this.  Feel free to call me at my office 800-713-3608 X 206  Sincerely Lou.

    Message to Lou:

If these calls are not coming from your company, you must have some powerful enemies - they're willing to use the name and intitials of your company. On one of these calls, I did exactly as you suggested, pressed the "opt-in" number, and that's how I got the name "Certified Dealer Services", which led to you. I'm not sure how your business works, but someone out there is not playing fair and I hope they get caught.

There are two obvious possibilities: one is you're an honest businessman who has been victimized by someone with a wicked grudge, and the other is that you've been trapped in a mess of your own creation. I certainly can't say which is true. I commend you for providing your phone number to the world and being willing to discuss the issue with aggrieved consumers. On the other hand a lot points in your direction. At this point the genie's out of the bottle, and we'll have to let the public decide.

n/m I see his name in the beginning. Sorry.

Lou, your mortgage information is posted on this thread. If the calling does not stop, I suspect people will be interested in 'marketing' to your home residence.

Conferring with Bill, somehow, you're connected to these events that people are being harrassed.

If the calls dont stop, forces will be mounting against you.
