They are nothing but a bunch of sociopaths, harassing a dying family member for a chunk of money that would not pay their phone bill for one day. Spouse hung up on them. They haven't called back.

And yet...another call & hangup from Portfolio Recovery. They are so annoying. Why can't something be done w/these jerks.

They're baaaaaaaackkk!  PRA has been calling this house for three years now. They "decided to cease collection efforts" in September, 2010. I have it in writing from some lawyer named Pearson, who had been forced back then to finally respond to my letters by the state Attorney General's office.

What I can't figure out is this: if they "decided to cease collection efforts," then how come they have called 185 times since then? Are they dumber than dirt, or are they merely bottom-feeding slimy pond scum, the offspring of diseased vermin?

It seems like forever that these dimwits have been calling from various numbers. The calls are always for someone else if they bother to leave a message.  I'm glad to hear they are under investigation, but aside from their calling practices they could be doing all sorts of stuff with what ever money they get out of vulnerable people. Maybe they aren't just corporate slugs.

called them back, waited until a person answered, hung up...they call me day and night and when I answer no one is there. I think they do that so you will call back. Just another one of their tactics. I admit I owe a debt, but they say they want to help you then they try to get you to give them access to your bank account so they can withdraw the money. Even though I told the llady I couldn't afford to pay off in the time she insisted on -she simply kept insisting.

Unfortunately, companies like Portfolio Recovery can get those unlisted numbers from the phone companies.  All theydo is claim that you owe them money and the phone companies will give them "all" the numbers associated to you, past and present

They call  here     3  times ado  , on different   area codes &  Numbers , same company   Portfolio   Recovery  is the name .  I wish they stop calling my  #     think they need time in Prison  !!~

These people continue to call be under different numbers. My caller ID identies them as Portfolio Recovery. I keep addng the numbers to my selective call rejection list and they call me back under a differnet number. I spoke with a woman yesterday and told her to stop calling and she was so rude. I have also reported the numbers as i am on the do not call list.

They call from various numbers.  I've gotten calls from Portfolio from PA, Florida, Nevada, Calif., Just don't answer if your caller ID is from a place that you aren't sure of.  If it's someone you know, they'll leave a message or call ya back.

Okay here it is 8:20 am and I thought that there was a law that they were not to call before 9 am. They are total jerks. Is there somewhere I can complain about them doing this??

They are calling you because they want you to give them some money.

They are running an extortion scam involving junk debt. They buy huge blocks of written off debts for which they pay pennies on the dollar, and then inflate the amounts they paid by a factor of ten or so, usually more than doubling the amount of the original written off debt, for which the banks have been handsomely compensated at taxpayer expense, and then embark on a campaign of intimidation and harassment to get you to send them a check, or better yet, give them access to your bank account.

It may or may not have ever been a debt that belongs to you, but no matter. These people are not interested in niceties like verifying the debt. In fact, they cannot comply with the law by verifying the debt. All they want is the money. The debts, even if they could be verified, are years past the statute of limitations, so they cannot take you to court. Instead, they call you four times a day from four different numbers, and hide their identity in the caller ID, and they go on for years and years.

Unless of course, you complain to the attorney general's office, then they issue a fraudulent 1099-C, claiming they decided to cease collection efforts. Of course they continue calling for years and years after that, in complete defiance of the law.

They are bottom-feeding pond scum mated with vermin, and have been made possible by the take-over of our economy by the financial interests, that began almost forty years ago. If The Best Congress Money Could Buy wanted to put a stop to these predatory a$$holes, they could do it in a minute. BYW, the outfit attached to this number, and at least a hundred other numbers, is called Portfolio Recovery Associates. They infest a suite of offices in Norfolk Virginia, a good reason to avoid any travel to that state.

Have been receiving calls past one year from Caller Company's Portfolio Recovery, they call us with different caller ID's 412-282-1422, 914-513-0443, 626-209-2244, spoke with customer care Jessica, she was very rude and abusing over the phone. Have reported to my phone company for the harassment they have caused us.
