This is the actual Duquesene Light number. But the caller is a scammer and not a Duquesne Light employee. He is likely spoofing the number. He told me that my bill was unpaid. I said that was interesting since there is no account connected with this phone number. He returned "You do have a Duquesne Light account." I said,"Sir, this is a business.... " He hung up the phone at that point. He did not even let me finish, but most likely knew that I was about to tell him that utilities are paid by the management company who leases our space. My location is in a strip mall with many businesses, The real Duquesne Light has the contact number of the management company who pays the bills.

Duquesne light 412-393-7100 just called an hung up.  It has to be a scam.  My bill is always paid on time.  If there was a problem they would have left a message.  Very suspicious.  The scammer must have spoofed the DL phone number/

Call at least twice a day and never leave a message.  If was an actual important call from Duquesne Light, why don't they leave a message?  I'm not answering EVER

Duquesne Light (and certainly not Duquesne ELECTRIC) does not take payment in GIFT CARDS.  If you're being asked to immediately pay a bill they're not going to have to go to Walgreen's and buy gift cards.

If you have any questions, pick up the phone and call Duquesne Light yourself.  You'll soon see that someone has been spoofing their number and that your electric is NOT going to be shut off today.

Now calling with a Duquesne Light spoofed number and offering a free month of electric or 15% off the bill because of all the prompt payment. They actually give a quick name at the beginning of the call-sounds like Kenza? I guess all they need is all of my personal info? I don’t know because I hung up. They did the same to my parents. Tried to report this to Duquesne Light and the FCC-no one cares. You know someone will think it’s legit because it’s the Duquesne Light number. Such garbage. Can’t the phone companies knock this crap out?

Thought the number looked familiar.  Yes, it *is* the number for Duquesne Light, but it's not them making the call.  And unlike what Barr said, they actually DO care that their number is being spoofed but they can't do anything about it (unless they were to actually change their number, which I'm sure is a major PITA for them to do).  I know because the first time around (several months ago I actually CALLED Duquesne Light and they said they didn't call my house.  This time around, just now, it was a hangup call the second the answering machine kicked in.  I wasn't picking up because my hands were covered in marzipan.  If you answer this call and it's something like what is reported (some sort of utility scam) tell them to send you stuff in the mail and then hang up before they get your name and number.  I had some slimeball company try to do this to me several years ago and eventually I wised up what was going on, and reported the company to the PA Attorney-General for violating the PA DNC list.  And then promptly forgot about it until last year -- when I got a call from some AG consumer affairs lawyer saying they'd found my complaint from 2014 (!) in their files when they got a bunch of other complaints from the same company over the next couple of years.  They took the company to court and the company settled out of court and I got $100 as my share of the settlement!  ;-).   Report stuff like this to the PA AG's Consumer Affairs people ASAP -- THEY have teeth!

This is a scam.  Duquesne Light clear states on their website:

"Duquesne Light does not call customers on the day of a scheduled termination for non-payment."
"Duquesne Light does not ask customers to purchase any type of pre-paid cards."

This is a scam and anyone who can't pronounce the Duquesne Light or know your account number and policy standards is a scam.   Duquesne Light almost never calls you without you calling them first, and even then its usually sending you an email or text to let you know the power outage is being fixed.   They will not call about your bill - they will send you snail mail.
